Chapter 93: The Old World Cub and the Devil (Part 2)
The snow was heavy and the wind was strong, the biting cold wind made Gu Rong's face hurt.
The streets were in a mess, littered with garbage and corpses, and blood had stained the snow-covered road black.
Gu Rong ran for a long time, but he had no direction at all and didn't know where to find his parents.
He clearly remembered the route of his parents' company, but after the zombie outbreak, everything changed. Looking around, everything he saw was completely different from before, and it was no longer recognizable as it was before.
Gu Rong passed by the park where she had ridden her scooter before. She stopped and took a while to recognize the park.
A patch of grass in the park was covered in corpses, forming a small pile. Each one was badly mangled, gnawed to pieces by something, and at first glance, resembled the rotten leaves trampled on at the market.
Human life is worth less than rotten vegetable leaves.
Gu Rong's little face was frozen red. Standing at the intersection, a snowflake fell on her eyelashes, it was cold, and it fell gently when she blinked.
Gu Rong didn't stop for long, and soon took another step and continued running forward.
After running across two streets, Gu Rong fell twice. Every time he fell, he would get up by himself, wipe his hands on his down jacket, and continue running forward without crying or making a fuss.
Passing by a shopping mall, Gu Rong came across a zombie gnawing on two corpses: a man and a woman, their faces still intact, their eyes wide open, as if they had died with their eyes open.
The stomach of the male corpse had been hollowed out, and the zombies were eating the liver of the female corpse, which was bleeding and steaming.
Hearing the noise, the zombie paused, turned its head stiffly, and stared at Gu Rong, the fair and tender cub, with its pupilless white eyes.
Gu Rong clenched his fists, his face tense, and he stared at the big zombie without blinking.
After two seconds of confrontation, the zombie dropped the corpse in his hand, twisted his stiff body, and pounced towards Gu Rong decisively.
Gu Rong turned and ran.
But Gu Rong's calves were not fast enough for sprinting, and the big zombie moved too quickly, and was about to pounce on him.
Gu Rong was quick-witted and knew that he could not outrun the big zombie, and his props were now malfunctioning. He glimpsed a collapsed billboard with his sharp eyes, and deftly drilled straight into it, getting to the innermost part.
The zombie had low intelligence. When it saw Gu Rong crawling into the gap under the billboard, it followed suit. The gap was very wide at first, but soon became extremely narrow.
Gu Rong was small and could easily crawl in even with a down jacket, but the big zombie was stuck.
The big zombie stretched out its hand towards Gu Rong, its face tattered and distorted.
Gu Rong looked back at it, crawled out from the other end of the billboard, and left the zombie under the billboard.
*
Gu Rong encountered several zombies along the way and easily shook them off.
The kid is very experienced in hiding from zombies. He used to live in the apocalypse and saw zombies every day.
He is a small zombie, so the big bad zombies bully him and steal his prey. Every time he can't beat the big bad zombies, he hides in a small corner so that the big zombies can't reach him, let alone bully him!
But not all zombies are bad guys, there are also many good zombies, such as zombie brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandparents, who also share their blood with others.
But the human blood was too smelly and he couldn't drink it.
After being chased by zombies for several rounds, Gu Rong successfully got lost again.
He originally came out to look for his parents, but he had no idea where to look. He wanted to go home, but he was too far away from home and couldn't go back.
Passing by an abandoned subway entrance, a rat bigger than Gu Rong jumped out of the subway entrance.
This mouse had mutated, and the fur on its body was like steel needles, sharp and hard. It used to run away when it saw people, but when it saw the human cub that was two times smaller than it, it stopped and aimed directly at Gu Rong.
The mutant mouse's mouth was moving, and the hair on its mouth was several dozen centimeters long. Gu Rong stood in front of it, like a small coal ball.
Gu Rong opened his eyes wide, opened his mouth, and raised his little head to look at the big rat. His first reaction was not fear, but exclamation: "Wow, what a big rat!"
The mouse's eyes flashed with a sly look, and its face was ferocious, as it was about to pounce on Gu Rong. However, just as it was about to get ready, for some reason, it looked behind Gu Rong in fear, as if it had seen something extremely terrifying, and even revealed a hint of pity.
Gu Rong was surprised. Before he could react, the big rat in front of him turned around and fled, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
"Huh?"
Gu Rong tilted his little head.
"Meow~"
A cat meowed behind me.
Gu Rong turned around and saw a black kitten following him slowly. Its eyes were green and when it saw Gu Rong turning around, it meowed at him again.
Gu Rong recognized the kitten at first sight, and his eyes lit up. "Kitten, why did you follow Zizi here? It was you who scared the big rat away!"
This time, the kitten didn't even meow, as if it didn't understand what Gu Rong was saying.
Gu Rong wanted to pick up the kitten, but he couldn't move it. Maybe he was too hungry and had no strength left.
Unable to hold the kitten, Gu Rong could only walk side by side with it.
Gu Rong said crisply, "Little cat, why are you following Zizi? Zizi doesn't have anything delicious to eat, and Zizi is hungry himself."
He touched his flat belly and put his mind on eating. Even though he couldn't eat, it was still good to talk about it. "Zizi wants to eat big chicken legs and big hamburgers!"
The kitten put on a very sullen cat face, turned a deaf ear, and looked noble and cold, but followed Gu Rong closely.
The kitten didn't talk to Gu Rong, but Gu Rong was a talkative cub and could chatter non-stop. But perhaps because he was too hungry, he didn't have the energy to open his mouth after just a few words.
"I'm hungry."
Gu Rong sighed like a little adult, and spread out his little hands which were white, tender and translucent but now covered with mud. His little hands were empty, with nothing in them, and he could only starve.
"Kitten, have you seen my mom and dad?"
The kitten naturally didn't answer him.
*
After wandering aimlessly outside for two days, Gu Rong came to the bottom of a bridge and was too hungry to walk.
In the past two days, he only drank a bottle of milk that he found in an abandoned supermarket. He didn't eat anything else.
After the apocalypse, all the food had been looted, and it was difficult for adults to find food, let alone a two-year-old cub.
Gu Rong's down jacket also became dirty, and his little face turned into a dirty little cat.
The snow is still falling, as if there is no end.
The underpass was filled with discarded cardboard boxes, devoid of people or zombies. Gu Rong staggered over and sat down behind a broken cardboard box in the far corner, curling up in a small ball and shivering with cold.
Gu Rong drooped his eyes weakly, and his whole body looked as small as a doll.
The bridge arch cannot completely block the wind and snow, and snowflakes are still blown in by the wind.
A three-year-old cub appeared in front of Gu Rong, looking down at him, with the hem of its black clothes embroidered with dark gold patterns hanging to the ground.
"My Lord Devil..."
The three-year-old was startled.
Lord Devil?
Why can this cub not only see Him, but also know that He is the devil.
The three-year-old cub was Lu Li, but at this point in time, he had not yet met Gu Rong.
It's the end of mankind and the devil has come to the world.
He is the most evil god in the world.
No one could see Him except this two-year-old cub.
Gu Rong saw a black hem of clothing. He looked at it for a long time and slowly raised his head, but there was no one in front of him.
It's as if what I just saw was an illusion.
There is no Devil-sama.
The black kitten snuggled up to him with its eyes slightly closed.
When Gu Rong saw the kitten, he was afraid that it was cold, so he reached out and wanted to hold it in his arms to keep it warm.
The kitten glanced at him and jumped into his arms.
Strangely enough, the cub had already been frozen into an ice sculpture. Staying in his arms, it not only didn't feel any warmth, but only felt colder.
But the kitten just curled up in his arms, not moving.
That's ridiculous.
Lu Li thought.
A kid who is about to die is still thinking about showing kindness to others.
Gu Rong huddled behind a torn cardboard box, trembling all over, his face pale.
"Kitten, kitty, I'm sleepy and want to sleep."
Gu Rong said.
The kitten opened its eyes and slowly looked towards him.
Gu Rong held the kitten in his arms, closed his eyes, and whispered in a baby voice, "Looking for daddy, looking for mommy..."
Lu Li: “…”
Snowflakes blew down and landed on Gu Rong's little face, but he himself was unaware of it.
Lu Li was stunned for a moment, then stretched out his cat paw and gently wiped away the snowflakes for him.
