Chapter 251 Wow, you're a mage?

He forced himself to remain calm, relying on the acting skills he had honed over ten years of hard work in Hengdian, and casually strode forward to greet them, his face beaming with a delighted smile, as if he had won the lottery: "Ah, great, I've finally met a living person!"

As he spoke, he exaggeratedly patted his chest and let out a long sigh of relief.

Then, his gaze swept back and forth between Su Yao and Professor Zhang, and he asked in a friendly manner, "Hello, are you here to explore too?"

Su Yao and Professor Zhang exchanged a puzzled glance.

Su Yao's gaze fell on the staff in his hand, and her curiosity was piqued. She couldn't help but ask, "Hello, we are indeed here to explore the Xisha ruins. Your appearance is quite unique. Is that staff some kind of prop?"

Upon hearing this, his smile instantly froze on his face, and a hint of panic flashed in his eyes.

Oh no, I forgot I was holding a weapon.

No wonder they were suspicious... What normal person carries a staff around all the time?!

Just as the player was about to explain, Yu Xiangnan's lips curled up slightly, and he added, "Could it be true? Wow, you're a mage?"

"No, it's not..."

Upon hearing this, the player's face turned pale and then red. He gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and laughed awkwardly twice: "Oh my god, I... I have a bit of a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome). I just like holding this thing. It makes me feel really cool and gives me a great sense of security. Please don't be offended!"

Upon hearing this, Su Yao and Professor Zhang were stunned into silence, their faces filled with disbelief.

Several seconds passed before Su Yao came to her senses and exclaimed sincerely, "It's okay, everyone has their own little quirks... Your staff looks so real, and the material looks quite good too. You must have put a lot of thought into it, right?"

As she spoke, she immediately raised the recording equipment in her hand and carefully filmed the staff from various angles. The lens swept from the crystal at the top of the staff all the way to the exquisite staff body, and the flash kept flashing.

The player shrank back awkwardly, his eyes full of anticipation, his gaze shifting back and forth between the three. "Since we've met by chance, can we act together?"

Su Yao and Yu Xiangnan both looked at Professor Zhang. Professor Zhang pondered for a moment and nodded.

Having received permission, the player immediately followed behind them.

Not far along, the player caught a glimpse of a furry figure out of the corner of his eye. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a round, plump corgi following behind the group.

Wait, how come there's a dog in these ruins?

He tensed instantly, his pupils contracted sharply, and he immediately shouted, "Watch out, something's fishy! Watch this!"

As he spoke, he quickly spread his arms to shield Su Yao, Professor Zhang, and Yu Xiangnan behind him, striking a pose as if he were bravely going to his death.

【Bula】: ?

[Bula]: Tsk, foolish humans from Earth.

Yu Xiangnan: "......"

Su Yao couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing. As she laughed, she waved her hand and said, "Oh dear, don't be so surprised. This is Xiang Nan's corgi, named Bu La. It's very gentle and won't bite!"

The dog that Xiang Nan keeps?

The player looked at Yu Xiangnan with a confused expression, and when she nodded, his face turned bright red.

But Bula keenly caught the praise in Su Yao's words. Its tail, which had been drooping, stood up high, its chest puffed out, and its short legs stretched straight. It walked back and forth in front of everyone with a majestic air.

Yu You, who had been feeling extremely frustrated the whole way and had been forced to remain silent, really wanted to complain.

What an arrogant dog.

They're even more arrogant than the guard dogs of the underworld.

Although there was a minor hiccup along the way, thankfully everyone didn't dwell on it. Before long, the four of them regrouped and set off again, continuing their journey along the winding passages of the ruins.

Zhao Gang and his group, who were leading the way, had already taken advantage of the fact that everyone else was still exploring the entrance and quickly ventured deeper into the ruins. Now, the two sides had already put a considerable distance between them.

Su Yao and Professor Zhang might not have a direct sense of it, but Yu Xiangnan was different. She keenly realized that the distance between them and Zhao Gang had now increased to at least three hundred meters.

[Yu Xiangnan]: Fei Duo, if the distance is more than 500 meters, don't worry about those three people, come back quickly.

[Fei Duo]: Good

Before long, the four of them arrived at a stone gate. The player glanced at the other three, then stepped forward and braced himself against the stone gate with both hands.

With a dull creak, the stone door was slowly pushed open.

As the group entered the stone gate, the dim light severely limited their vision, allowing them to barely make out the outlines of their surroundings.

The main hall floor is paved with huge stone slabs, which are covered with densely packed mysterious symbols. The surrounding walls are covered with colorful murals, which, despite the erosion of time, still reveal their exquisite beauty and awe-inspiring presence.

Yu Xiangnan stopped in front of one of the murals.

This mural depicts a grand sacrificial scene, with people dressed in gorgeous costumes, wearing strange masks, holding sacrificial utensils, kneeling and worshipping devoutly, their eyes full of awe and piety.

Just as they were carefully examining the murals on the wall, without warning, the sand beneath their feet suddenly began to shift violently.

"Oh no, it's quicksand! Everyone get out of the way!"

Professor Zhang shouted.

The once solid ground rapidly transformed into a massive vortex of quicksand, spinning at an incredible speed, threatening to engulf everything in its path.

Professor Zhang and Su Yao panicked and fled in all directions, only to find that their escape route had been blocked by quicksand.

Upon seeing that scene, Su Yao's expression froze instantly, as if struck by frost. She stood there dumbfounded, unable to utter a single word.

Yu Xiangnan reacted quickly, grabbing a stone pillar to maintain his balance and pulling Su Yao next to him.

She looked toward the center of the vortex, where ancient phantoms faintly appeared, resembling a group of ancient people in long robes, their mouths opening and closing as if telling some secret.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the phantom's gestures seemed to be pointing to a certain spot on the ruins wall.

Yu Xiangnan quickly weighed various options in her mind. After a brief moment of thought, she grabbed Su Yao's arm, pulled her to the pillar, and said, "Stay here, hold onto the pillar and don't move. I'll be right back."

Su Yao was already tense because of the unknown dangers around her. When she heard Yu Xiangnan say this, the color drained from her face and she turned as pale as a sheet.

Her voice trembled slightly: "Wait, where are you going? This place is strange and too dangerous!"

However, before Su Yao could finish speaking, Yu Xiangnan suddenly pushed off with his feet, his body drawing a clean arc in the dim light, leaping more than ten meters away and landing steadily on another pillar.

Su Yao stared in shock, her eyes wide and her mouth agape.

Is this something a normal person could do?
