Yu Xiangnan nodded.
The other guard quickly turned around, pushed open a small door on one side of the ice crystal door, and disappeared into the cold mist behind the door.
A moment later, he hurriedly returned and said, "Lord Fu Meng has agreed to see you. Please come with me."
Yu Xiangnan didn't say anything more and followed the guard into the ice crystal gate. The ice crystal gate closed behind her with a crisp clanging sound.
Yu Xiangnan entered a thick fog, his vision obstructed. But in the blink of an eye, the fog vanished.
A figure appeared before them.
It is... Fu Meng.
Fu Meng hadn't changed much since the last time they met; her thick, dark brown curly hair cascaded down her back, and she wore a long red dress.
"I didn't expect you to come looking for me so soon." Fu Meng turned around, smiled slightly upon seeing Yu Xiangnan, a complex look flashing in her eyes. "But it's perfect timing. I've been preparing for this for a long time; it's time to tell you about it..."
Yu Xiangnan was slightly taken aback.
Fu Meng, so you've already recognized her?
Her gaze fell on Fu Meng's casually waving hand.
In the blink of an eye, the flower branches on both sides seemed to come alive, quickly stretching and intertwining, blooming with pale purple flowers. The petals of these flowers swayed gently in the air, emitting a faint fragrance.
Then, a circle of illusory scenery slowly unfolded between the two of them.
Like a flower in a mirror or the moon in water.
Looking at the illusory scene, Fu Meng said, "These flowers are just illusions, but the truth they carry is real. Like flowers in a mirror or the moon in the water, they seem illusory, yet they reflect the deepest doubts and desires in our hearts."
"Just as the world has rumored, the [Dragon Totem] is a top-tier artifact left behind by the second reversed position of the previous generation, granting the ability to travel through time and space..."
"However, what they don't know is that the real name of the second reversed card in the previous generation, or the planet it came from."
Yu Xiangnan's pupils dilated in shock.
Almost simultaneously, a clear human figure gradually materialized from the previously illusory image. His figure solidified, holding an ancient scroll in his hand.
The scroll slowly unfurled, and in an instant, a blinding burst of light erupted, revealing countless complex characters that resembled oracle bone script.
A somber and oppressive atmosphere permeated the air.
Fu Meng looked at the figure above, her voice low and slow: "Actually, the real name of the second-ranked player in the previous competition was Long Ze. He came from Blue Star. The [Dragon Mu Totem] has the power to allow players to escape this endless game world and return to reality."
“He kept trying, and it seems he really succeeded—he went back.”
Yu Xiangnan immediately gasped.
The second reversed card...from Earth?!
How is that possible? When Earth was invaded, weren't the eight reversed positions already in existence? Moreover, at that time, the [Dragon Totem] had already been broken into eight fragments.
The timing just doesn't match up...
Fu Meng's tone turned serious, and she continued, "Just a few months after his disappearance, the [Dragon Mu Totem] suddenly shattered into eight pieces and then vanished without a trace. And Long Ze never appeared again. The position of the second reversed position has been vacant ever since, and everyone believes... he is dead."
"The Dragon Mu Totem is the beginning of everything. As for whether it is the end, or whether there will be an end, no one can say for sure."
Yu Xiangnan pursed his lips and remained silent for a long while.
"None of this makes sense."
Fu Meng's lips curled slightly as she looked at the complete [Dragon Mu Totem] displayed above the illusion. "But if we possess it, wouldn't everything make sense?"
"......"
Yu Xiangnan asked, "Do you think... if you had such an opportunity, you would be willing to return to the real world?"
Fu Meng was silent for a moment, her voice carrying a hint of weariness and deep contemplation: "It's been too long... If we want to go back, we need not only the courage to adapt, but also the determination to abandon everything. None of us can be sure that we won't lose all our power after we go back."
Yu Xiangnan lowered his eyes slightly, his long eyelashes casting a shadow beneath them.
After a moment, she asked again, "But the second reversed position in the previous session chose to do that, didn't it?"
Fu Meng nodded, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
"Although I can't fully fathom his intentions, I can sense that... he carries a burden far greater than we can imagine."
She suddenly seemed to remember something, and her tone softened: "Oh, right, this friend of yours is here today too. Would you like to meet him?"
Before the words were even finished, the air and the surrounding flowers began to tremble slightly.
Yu Xiangnan suddenly turned his head.
Ya Ni's figure appeared in the cold mist.
Upon seeing Yu Xiangnan, Ya Ni quickly approached her, knelt on one knee, clasped her hands together in front of her with her palms facing upwards, and her forehead almost touched her clasped hands.
Just like when we met at the holy site of Ranize last time, we performed some kind of supreme ritual.
"Master, it's been a long time."
A hint of surprise appeared in Yu Xiangnan's dark eyes. "Ya Ni, it's a pleasure to see you again."
As the two were talking, Fu Meng had already returned to her seat, propping her head up with one hand and gently waving the other, and the previously tightly closed ice crystal door opened silently and automatically.
She asked, "You can go downstairs and talk things over. However, I have another question—what are your plans next? Do you intend to synthesize the [Dragon Mu Totem]?"
Yu Xiangnan's eyes gleamed with determination: "Yes, since we've chosen this path, we can only keep looking forward. If we give up halfway now, we'll truly become a coward."
