There was a strange metallic smell in the air.
The man covered his nose and walked down the mine tunnel until he came to a bright room that was out of tune with the dilapidated surroundings.
A straight figure was standing in the middle of the room, admiring something in the light of the wall.
Hearing the voice, he turned his head and gave a friendly smile.
"Long time no see, Duke Owen."
Owen, the Hereditary Duke and shareholder of the Tree of Life, lowered his hood and said, "I'm going back to Messiah."
"So urgent?" The man only glanced at Owen, then turned his head again, holding a piece of glittering mineral between three fingers and slowly turning it under the light.
"Even under the artificial lighting of the appraisal level, it is still so perfect..."
"What is this?" Owen looked at the ore in his hand warily.
"A small trophy." The man looked at the ore with fascination. He took it out of the light, put it to his lips and kissed it gently. "Don't be so nervous, Your Excellency."
"You still have the mood to buy ore!" Owen lowered his voice.
"Do you know that something happened at the Golden Casino? The entire Tree of Life is blocking the news! Even I don't know what happened!"
"I just received a message from the agent that the Queen is waiting to summon me at the Imperial Court. Anyway... I have to go back to Messiah to deal with the rest of the matter."
"Really?" The man was still nonchalant, smiling casually, as if he was listening to something that had nothing to do with him.
Owen put his hood back on and warned, "Be careful of that Chen Que."
"oh?"
"He's the Queen's lackey."
"A useless lackey?" the man asked.
There was a warm glow on his bronze skin, and his golden eyes revealed a hint of playfulness and ridicule.
"Even a disabled dog can bite!" Owen warned him, "You haven't seen what he looks like when he has psychic powers. He's terrifying."
Lingyu smiled and said, "How do you know I haven't seen it?"
Owen was stunned, but before he could ask, Lingyu shrugged: "Don't worry, I will be careful."
Owen pulled his hood tighter: "You better be!"
He turned to leave when he heard Lingyu call out, "Wait, Duke."
Something was thrown from the air and Owen reached out to catch it.
It's a beautifully packaged chocolate.
"What's this?"
Lingyu curled the corners of his mouth and looked straight at Owen.
"Something to make you happy. You're so nervous, Duke. Relax a little."
Owen avoided the man's eyes. For some reason, every time he looked into his eyes, he felt a creepy feeling as if he was looking into the eyes of a beast.
Without looking back, he put the chocolate back into his pocket and hurried out of the mine.
