Chapter 212 Who Can't Love a Knife? (1/2)

Since it was a welcoming banquet, a sheep was slaughtered to show the hospitality and importance of the occasion.

There are more than 30 people inside and outside the house. If we were to raise chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry, we would have to slaughter a lot of them. It would be uneconomical to slaughter those that are raised to lay eggs. However, we can't finish eating the sheep when there are fewer people, but they come in handy when there are more people.

The sheep raised in the clear water have a low muttony smell and a high meat yield. The dozens of kilograms of mutton are not eaten in one meal, but are divided into two meals, lunch and dinner.

First, fry the fatty mutton from the sides of the belly until the fat is rendered, then add star anise to sauté until fragrant. Next, add the lean meat and stir-fry together until fragrant. Then, pour in boiling water and simmer over low heat until tender and flavorful. Finally, add diced radish.

The radish absorbs the oil and broth from the stewed mutton, acquiring a rich meaty aroma.

The 30-plus kilograms of mutton shrank considerably after cooking, but with radishes and broth, it still filled three large basins.

After cleaning the lamb offal, stir-fry it with pickled peppers. Three bowls of appetizing and delicious spicy lamb offal are served separately.

Although it wasn't cost-effective to slaughter chickens, ducks, and geese, we didn't, but we still had enough eggs.

I cooked three large bowls of chive and egg pancakes and stir-fried loofah with eggs.

I made two kinds of potatoes: one was braised potato chunks, which tasted delicious and soft; the other was stir-fried potato shreds with green peppers, which was crisp and refreshing.

The cold dishes are smashed cucumber and vegetarian mixed shredded vegetables.

Then, whatever's in the vegetable garden, we'll make: stewed green beans, steamed eggplant, steamed edamame...

No matter what dish it is, three portions are prepared.

The feast was set up at three tables: two for the men and one for the women and children. The dishes on each table were identical in style and quantity.

Zhou Yu, Zheng Yan, and Li Dani stared at the food on the table in disbelief, hesitating to sit down.

"Sit down, sit down. Although there are more people at our table, it's quiet, and we don't have to fight with the men." Mrs. Hu smiled and waved to the five people.

The five men recognized her as the lady's mother, the "Old Madam."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Hu got goosebumps all over and felt extremely uncomfortable. She quickly corrected, "No, no, just call me Aunt Hu, it's more friendly!"

She was happy when they called her "daughter" or "madam," but why did she feel a jolt when they called her "herself"?

I guess she's destined for a life of hardship, not fit to be an old lady!

Li Dani and the other four were in a dilemma, and looked up at Shui Qing.

Shuiqing knew that her mother really didn't like it and was uncomfortable, so she smiled and said, "Just call me whatever my mother says. Come on, sit down, dinner is about to start!"

The five men were filled with trepidation and chose to sit down in the lower seats.

They need to be observant and polite, even when dealing with a host.

After sitting down, the aroma of the food on the table became even stronger, so strong that the five people's hands trembled slightly as they held their chopsticks. Their eyes were fixed on the food on the table, and they felt that everything looked delicious!

Moreover, there are several kinds of meat and eggs! Each one is very generous in portion.

In the large bowl in front of them was a bowl of glistening, white rice, emitting a fragrant aroma. Everyone at the table had rice, including the five of them.

Once the meal officially began, they noticed that the host's family members were slowly and leisurely enjoying the delicious food on the table, while the girls were hurriedly swallowing their food, one bite after another, as if they were fighting over it.

The five of them blushed slightly and deliberately slowed down their eating pace.

"The rice is served in the wooden buckets behind you. Help yourselves when you're done," Shuiqing reminded them.

These are people who do physical labor; how could one bowl be enough for them with such large appetites? These women are clearly just embarrassed to ask for more rice.

She added, "You need to be well-fed to have the energy to work."

Li Dani and the other four were indeed not full. They were about to put down their bowls and chopsticks, but after hearing Shui Qing's words, they got up to get more rice.
