Chapter 356 The Mother-in-Law is Gone (2/2)

They dealt with dozens of bandits, only wounded and not killed. If Fan Qian and Fan Dazhu hadn't been lazy and come back, those bandits wouldn't have been able to get in.

Even if they forced their way up, and poured lime and itching powder down like they did at Mancang, there probably wouldn't be anyone injured by now!

Fan Dazhu regretted bringing trouble upon himself, but since things had come to this, he could only stubbornly insist: "It's because nothing happened before, and even if we were there, we might have been killed by the bandits long ago. It would just be adding two more lives to the list."

"Very well, very well indeed, it's just that it's not your life that's being added now!" Li Wu felt a surge of fire in his chest and couldn't help but sneer.

Fan Erzhu lay on the ground groaning in pain, pleading, "Stop making a fuss, I'm in a lot of pain, quickly call Uncle Ding to bandage me up."

At the mention of his injuries, everyone except Fan Sizhu cried out in pain and asked Ding Heli and Qin Yilin to come and apply medicine.

"Shuiqing, something terrible has happened! Grandpa Zhao is gone, and Old Master Zhao and his wife are also dying. All the young men and women in the Zhao family are injured!"

"Grandma Sun is gone, and many people in the Sun family are injured! Both families urgently need medicine. Uncle Ding and Aunt Ding said they don't have enough hemostatic powder, and they don't have enough gauze either. You should go and discuss what to do!" Wang Guifen shouted as she ran over, before even entering the door.

Upon entering the main room, they were taken aback by the sight before them.

The people inside the room, upon hearing Wang Guifen's words, looked at Fan Qian and Fan Dazhu with eyes that seemed to want to skin them alive!

The Fan family members who had been groaning and wailing, shouting for Ding Heli and Qin Yilin to come and bandage them, were now silent and shrank back.

Wang Guifen, too lazy to look at the family, anxiously asked, "Do you think we should send someone to the prefectural city now or wait until dawn?"

If we go too early, the city gates won't be open yet, and either way, we don't know if we'll make it in time.

Shui Qing had an idea in mind and immediately said, "I still have some hemostatic powder at home, and I bought a lot of gauze before. I'll go get it."

Wang Guifen quickly said, "I'll go with you to get it."

“No need, someone can’t leave here. Wait for me, I’ll bring it over as soon as I find it.” Shui Qing didn’t agree.

She wanted to buy things at the mall, but it was inconvenient to bring her sister-in-law Guifen along.

She looked at Fan Jin again, who nodded silently to her. Without further hesitation, Shui Qing turned and ran back.

She could tell that her mother-in-law was failing, so she decided to bring all the children over when she got home, as a way of sending their grandmother off on her final journey.

While waiting for the medicine, Wang Guifen looked at Fan Jin's mother, who was barely breathing in his arms.

Li Wu muttered a summary: "These bandits were killed directly by the elderly, while the young and strong were all injured."

Seeing that Fan Sizhu was unharmed in the corner, he added, "Weren't the younger ones all unharmed?"

Hearing her brother-in-law's words, Wang Guifen thought about it for a moment and realized it was true. She hurriedly said, "Now that you mention it, it's true! The older members of the Sun and Zhao families were all killed with one knife each, chopping at their necks without holding back! They were gone on the spot."

Compared to others, Fan's mother was fortunate; at least she didn't die on the spot. But this kind of good fortune didn't seem so bad either, because the longer the delay went on, the more she suffered.

"The young and strong are all broken in the arms and legs, but not all of them. The younger ones and children are not affected. What is the reason for this?"

She didn't think it was because those bandits were kind-hearted and couldn't bring themselves to harm the children; there must be a reason.

"No need to guess, we'll find out when we interrogate those bandits!" Wang Laoba said through gritted teeth.

Upon hearing that the bandits had been caught, Fan Dazhu cried out, "I'm going to kill those villains! To avenge my grandmother!"

Mother Fan's eyes widened, her lips moved for a long time, but she couldn't utter a single word. Then, the hand that had been pointing at her eldest son fell limply to her side.

Fan Dazhu burst into a loud wail: "Grandma! Don't leave us!"

The room was immediately filled with the sound of weeping.
