Chapter 400 Ling Ran's Mother Has Arrived (2/2)

As Shui Qing exited the hanging flower gate, she saw a large group of people surrounding a rich and noble carriage. She narrowed her eyes slightly.

Such a ostentatious carriage must mean trouble!

The two carriages stopped, and servants immediately placed footstools next to the carriage frames. Two other people brought over a roll of thick cloth and spread it from the footstools all the way to Shuiqing Courtyard.

The villagers had never seen such behavior before and were immediately stunned.

Shui Qing was used to this in China and didn't show much emotion.

Isn't it similar to a red carpet? She walked on it many times during opening ceremonies, and even when it rained, many shopping malls would lay one down to prevent slipping.

Sang Rou slowly climbed out of the carriage, stood on the frame, and looked down at the shocked villagers below. As she expected, a mocking smile appeared on her lips.

The mocking smile froze when he saw Shui Qing's expressionless face.

How could she not be surprised and envious? She was just a country woman.

Shui Qing looked up at the woman on the cart.

She was about the same age as me, and because she took good care of herself, she looked much younger than the women in the village who worked in the fields under the sun. However, her age was still there, and for some reason, she had applied too much makeup today. These days, cosmetics don't adhere very well, and the makeup was very noticeable.

She stood there looking delicate and frail, as if a gust of wind could knock her over—but she wasn't really that delicate. Years of pampered living had made her waist anything but slender, which made Shui Qing frown.

Do all men love innocent, feminine women? Or is it just that Ling Ce is attracted to this type?

Sang Rou looked at Shui Qing and saw that instead of envy, Shui Qing frowned, her heart filled with doubt and uncertainty.

She also took a closer look at Shuiqing, and found that this country woman did not look older than herself, and even looked a little younger!

How could that be? They spend all year under the scorching sun, doing housework, washing clothes, cooking, and farm work. Their faces and hands are cracked and chapped beyond recognition, and their backs are so hunched that they can't straighten up. Yet the woman in front of me doesn't have any of that!

Shui Qing had no idea that Sang Rou was primarily concerned with these things. If she had known, she could have simply said something like, "How about some skincare products? How about some tonics? We can provide calcium and energy supplements, and then who's better than whom?"

"Madam, please slow down, let this old servant help you!"

The old nanny stepped forward, reached out to help Sang Rou down slowly.

Shui Qing: ..... The last time I was this speechless was last time.

Aunt Li, Aunt Zhang, and Wang Guifen: ...This doesn't seem like a kind person.

And what's going on? This woman looks to be about the same age as the governor, so the governor can only marry older women?

"Mother, let me help you." The boy who rushed from the back carriage pushed away the old nanny's hand and stepped forward to support Sang Rou's arm.

The boy had a fair complexion and a rather thin build. He was about fifteen or sixteen years old, and he was being called "Mother" by this woman!

The group of villagers from Shanshui Village who followed were stunned.

Whoever helps, it doesn't matter. Is it necessary to push them away and then find someone else? Why can't they understand?

And didn't Ling Ran's mother die when he was very old? I've never heard of him having a younger brother, so who is this boy?
