Chapter 5 A woman skilled in both literature and martial arts—your mother is truly a master of both! (1/2)

The rough pottery bowl in Fan's mother's hand fell onto the table.

Dazhu Ersan Sizhu swallowed hard.

"Mrs. Hu, no, Shuiqing, please talk this out. You can't just use a knife like that," Mother Fan pleaded in a trembling voice.

Sun Jinhua also realized what was happening and stammered, "Sister-in-law, we've always gotten along well for the past ten years or so. Don't do anything foolish, okay?"

She now regrets it immensely, regretting letting her husband go into hiding. Her original intention was that she thought it would be difficult to handle if he, a grown man, interfered in family matters and his heart softened when Daya cried.

To everyone's surprise, the usually timid Hu Shuiqing suddenly stood up and started using a knife.

What should we do now?

The five girls, Da Ya and Er Ya, were closest to their mother and were stunned to see her rush into the kitchen and return with a cleaver in her hand.

Er Ya asked softly, "Mom, didn't you just say that we should use words to fight, not violence, and that we should be civilized people?"

But I have to say, her mother looks really impressive holding a kitchen knife!

Shui Qing snorted through her nose. If civility were useful, who would want to be a shrew?

"Mother!" Fan Hu, the youngest, suddenly called out.

Shui Qing looked at him.

The little child whispered a reminder: "Hold the kitchen knife firmly."

Shui Qing immediately gave a thumbs up. This kid knows how to grasp the key points!

Daya asked worriedly, "Mother, should I do it?"

This whole thing started because of her, but it was her mother who was the one who rushed to the front lines...

Shui Qing waved her hand dismissively, saying, "You all step back. I'll show you what it means to be both scholarly and martial! And besides, your mother here is truly both scholarly and martial!"

In the past, the key to her success as a strong woman was not her 'woman' but her 'strength'.

She didn't want to waste her breath arguing with them about things that could be solved with words, but she also didn't want to waste her breath arguing with them about things that could only be solved by taking action!

"Dazhu, Erzhu, your aunt has gone mad! Stop her!" Sun Jinhua cried out in alarm as she watched Hu Shuiqing approaching with a kitchen knife.

Fan Dazhu stared at the gleaming kitchen knife, took a step back, and felt a growing resentment towards his mother.

Even Mother knew Auntie was crazy, yet she still urged him to rush forward!

Isn't he the eldest grandson of the Fan family, the most precious person? What if he gets injured?

Seeing his elder brother retreat, Fan Erzhu immediately retreated even further.

Unable to persuade her two sons, Sun Jinhua suggested in a trembling voice, "Sister-in-law, how about we give your two daughters half a black flour bun?"

"It doesn't really matter whether the young lady or the little girl eats at the table or not, does it?"

Shui Qing smiled faintly and said, "Since it's nothing important, then sister-in-law, don't come to the table to eat. Just squat down anywhere with your bowl and eat."

Growing up in the countryside, she preferred to eat outside with her rice bowl rather than sit at the table and eat properly.

But not wanting and not allowing are two completely different things.

Da Ya and Er Ya may not want to, but they cannot refuse!

“That won’t do. I’ve finally made it to the table to eat,” Sun Jinhua blurted out.

Thinking of the heartache she felt as a child watching her family members eat and laugh around the table from afar at her mother's house, Fan's mother pouted and said with dissatisfaction, "Every family in the countryside goes through this, why are you making a fuss?"

Don't think you're so great just because the village women sided with you after your outburst in the yard. Go ask around the village, who's going to help you this time?!
