Du Jiang knew Huo Yang was anxious, but he didn't expect him to be so anxious.
Facing the eloquent Mrs. Huo who appeared the moment she opened her eyes, Du Jiang went from shy to accepting. Looking at the betrothal gifts and gold chains in front of her, Du Jiang couldn't say a word of refusal. She could only say blankly, "Thank you for your help."
"It's not a big deal, it's the man's business." Old Mrs. Huo smiled with her teeth showing as she watched Du Jiang put away the things. "The 25th of the first lunar month is a good day. Although it's a little close, the things at home are all good and just right. If it were further away, we would have to wait until April."
Upon hearing this, Du Jiang felt the palm of his hand holding the handkerchief getting a little hot, but he still suppressed the heat and nodded, "Then listen to grandma."
"Hey, Jiang girl, don't worry," Mrs. Huo, who had received the confirmed news, stood up with a smile, "Okay, I'll go back and prepare. In the afternoon, you and Yangyang will go to the town to get the marriage certificate and take photos. The child's certificate is also ready."
"Okay, I'll listen to Grandma." Du Jiang regained her composure after her shyness faded, but the blush on her cheeks remained, showing that she wasn't as shocked as she appeared. Old Mrs. Huo saw through it but didn't say anything. "Then you can see Grandma off. I just need to go to the pigsty."
By the time Du Jiang and Old Lady Huo walked out of the room, almost everyone had gotten up after being called by the educated youth. They were squatting in the yard with their toothbrush holders, brushing their teeth and washing their faces. When they saw Old Lady Huo coming out of Du Jiang's room, everyone except Qian Meili was surprised. Guan Chuan seemed to have guessed something, and his eyes brightened a little.
After spitting out the white foam from his mouth, Guan Chuan said loudly, "Grandma Huo, it's time for a wedding."
"Haha, you kid," Old Mrs. Huo did not deny it. She smiled and led Du Jiang out the door, leaving behind everyone with different expressions.
In the pig house, Huo Yang was measuring the location with Du Siming, Dachuan and others. Dachuan wanted to build his own yard, so he just followed Du Siming's words without any objection. Du Siming, who was originally thinking about convincing the other party with words, looked at him several times and only breathed a sigh of relief when he was sure that the other party was not interested in this.
Du Siming: "Okay, Huo Yang, Li Hongjun and his family and I will be responsible for building this wall. You guys just need to work with the rest of the village to build your houses."
After hearing what Du Siming said, Dachuan, who was worried about his family, nodded without thinking and said, "Village chief, I understand. I'll go find someone right away." After that, he turned around and ran away, as fast as if he was afraid that Du Siming would go back on his word.
Huo Ze in the corner was still disheveled, with his head hung down, playing with the straw in his hand boredly. Seeing this, Du Siming gave Huo Yang a look, and Huo Yang walked out resignedly.
After Huo Yang left, Du Siming walked forward with a distressed look on his face. Seeing his good brother in such a miserable state, he wanted to let go of his outstretched hand but didn't dare. "You, how could you have gotten yourself into this state?"
With a "snap" sound, Huo Ze slapped the big hand in front of him away, "Don't seek death, Crazy Du."
Who knew that Du Siming was not sad but laughed instead, "So you care about me?"
Huo Ze didn't say anything, but just reached out and brushed away the messy hair in front of his eyes. He gave him a look that showed his understanding, then turned around and faced the wall to continue being autistic.
"It will be fine in a few days." The big palm finally landed on the top of Huo Ze's head. His master did not show any disdain for the greasiness of the messy hair under his palm. Instead, he rubbed it very gently a few times and said, "Wait for me."
Listening to the footsteps gradually fading away behind him, Huo Ze finally couldn't control his tears and fell. It took a long time before he stopped sobbing.
Huo Yang was talking to Old Lady Huo outside the door. Before he could finish speaking, he heard Du Siming's footsteps and quickly turned around. "Village Chief."
Du Siming glanced at Old Lady Huo and Du Jiang behind her and nodded, then said to Huo Yang, "Since we want to get the marriage certificate, let's go to town. Li Hongjun, Guan Chuan and the other guys will be fine in the pigsty."
After saying this, Du Siming didn't care about the reactions of the people present and immediately walked past them towards the educated youth site.
Huo Yang pondered for a moment and looked at Du Jiang. "Let's go to town, right now. Grandma, you go home and prepare first. Just cook a few tables of food on the 25th. We'll go together at the educated youth's place. As for the village, I'll take Du Jiang and distribute some candy after I'm done."
"Okay, I'll listen to you," Old Mrs. Huo did not refute, but looked at Du Jiang with an apologetic look.
Du Jiang disagreed, "Grandma, it's okay, just keep it simple."
"Oh, it's really thanks to you," Old Mrs. Huo grabbed Du Jiang's hand and patted it soothingly, "Since you want to go, then go quickly and don't waste time."
"Well, then I'll take Du Jiang to the town first." Huo Yang, who had long legs and big feet, pushed the bicycle out of the house in a short while, helped Du Jiang sit on the back seat and went to the town.
Huo Yang rode very fast along the way. The journey that would have taken nearly two hours to walk was completed in just half an hour.
Nowadays, it is very simple to get a marriage certificate. All you need is a certificate from your unit or village. As for the photo, it depends on the place. Since this place is relatively remote, there is basically no need for wedding photos. However, Huo Yang still took Du Jiang to the photo studio after getting the marriage certificate.
"No need for that," the newlyweds stood at the door of the photo studio. Du Jiang was conflicted, looking down at the patched clothes he hadn't had time to change into before going out, with a look of rejection on his face. "Forget it, I'll put on better clothes next time."
"Uh," Huo Yang looked down at his clothes after hearing this, then touched his head awkwardly, "Sorry, I didn't think it through. How about I take you to the store to see if there are any ready-made clothes."
