People in the world are busy with their lives, welcoming and seeing off people.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter passed year after year, and the four seasons rotated. Even though Du Jiang and Huo Yang took good care of them, the lives of the old couple of the Huo family eventually came to an end. This year was the fifth year that Du Jiang and Huo Yang came to this village, and it was also the first year that Huo Xingle was born.
New life comes and old life passes away, as if it is a reincarnation. Du Jiang follows Huo Yang silently, holding the child. In front of the grave, Huo Ze cries heart-wrenchingly, his face covered with tears. He wishes he could die in place of the person in the grave. Du Siming holds his shoulders tightly, the veins on the back of his hands burst, but he cannot lift the person from the ground.
"Aze, it's a happy funeral for the elders, don't be like this"
Unfortunately, no matter how many words of comfort he offered, they were blocked out by the other party. Immersed in pain, Huo Ze could not hear the words of the people around him. His mind and eyes were filled with the small mound in front of him. He didn't understand why his parents, who were smiling yesterday, were sleeping in this soil today.
"Dad, Mom~" The mournful voice was full of pain, so heartbreaking that Du Jiang couldn't bear it and looked away.
Huo Ze put his arms around his wife and children, his silent face also filled with sorrow. Among the five people present, only the child in Du Jiang's arms had no knowledge of birth, old age, sickness and death, and was even sleeping soundly with his eyes closed.
From sunrise to sunset, Huo Ze seemed to want to shed all the tears of the first half of his life at once, and no one could persuade him.
Finally, Du Siming couldn't bear it any longer and struck the other person on the back of the neck. He then took the person back. Before leaving, he did not forget to instruct Huo Yang, "Huo Yang, take good care of Du Jiang. She just came out of confinement and her mood should not be too volatile."
"I know, Third Uncle, I'll leave my uncle to you."
Du Siming nodded silently, turned around and left carrying Huo Ze.
After watching the two disappear at the intersection, Du Jiang walked back silently, holding the child. Huo Yang was very worried along the way. He wanted to take Huo Xingle from Du Jiang's arms several times, but Du Jiang refused. "No, I'll hold him. You've been tired this month, taking care of me and grandpa and grandma."
"Du Jiang, let me do it. You just came out of confinement. Don't get tired."
Seeing Huo Yang's persistence, Du Jiang stopped resisting and carefully placed Huo Xingle, who had just turned one month old, in Huo Yang's arms. "Be careful, the child is weak."
"I know." Looking back at the road they came from, there seemed to be two old people standing there. Huo Yang was dazzled for a moment. He tightened his arms holding the child slightly. Knowing that the child was groaning in discomfort, he hurriedly turned back and adjusted carefully, and then walked home side by side with Du Jiang.
When passing by the educated youth site, Du Jiang looked at the worried faces and smiled. He wanted to say that he was fine, but his voice choked as soon as he opened his mouth. Du Jiang could only smile and say that he was fine.
Yu Chunxiao and the others were extremely worried, but they didn't know what to say, so they could only go forward and hug Du Jiang to comfort her.
After thanking him repeatedly, Du Jiang and Huo Yang slowly walked home together.
Du Jiang was completely exhausted when she returned home, and slumped in a chair. Seeing this, Huo Yang first placed the child in the house, then came out and helped Du Jiang into the house. "Jiang Jiang, lie down for a while. I'll make you some soup. You've been standing for too long today. How about making some mutton soup?"
"Don't," Du Jiang grabbed Huo Yang's arm and stopped him. "Although there are no taboos about funerals now, it's better not to do so. The smell of mutton soup will be bad for the neighbors, not to mention that you haven't been to the mountains recently. So, let's not do it."
"Then I'll make you a cup of malted milk." Looking at Du Jiang's pale face, Huo Yang was extremely worried. "You look too bad. How about I go to town and bring back something?"
"No, wait until you go back to work in a couple of days," Du Jiang waved his hand again, "Besides, it's not safe at night. Maybe he's been standing for too long. I want to lie down for a while. You can go to Third Uncle's house later. I'm worried that my uncle's body can't take it. Bring him two stalks of the ginseng we planted earlier."
"I understand. Don't worry about it." Huo Yang helped Du Jiang lie down slowly. "Go to sleep for a while. I'll come back and make you something delicious."
Du Jiang was really tired today. When her head hit the pillow, she had no mind to think at all. She subconsciously listened to Huo Yang's words and closed her eyes. Fatigue, pain, and fatigue swept over Du Jiang, making her fall asleep.
Looking at Du Jiang, who had a frown on his face even when he was asleep, Huo Yang sighed, reached out to cover Du Jiang with the quilt, and then moved Huo Xingle inside further in. After making sure that Du Jiang would not crush the child by turning over, he turned around and left quietly.
At Du Siming's house next door, Du Siming was also feeling overwhelmed. He felt distressed when he saw Huo Ze sleeping on the bed with his brows furrowed even when he was asleep.
"Third Uncle"
"You're here. Jiang Jiang, I've settled everything." Du Siming knew it must be Huo Yang without turning around. "Why are you here?"
"How is my uncle? Is he okay?" Huo Yang looked at Huo Ze lying on the bed, feeling a bit overwhelmed. "Grandpa and grandma's passing was so sudden. My uncle must have been unable to accept it. Third uncle, why don't you let my uncle stay with me first?"
"No need," Du Siming refused without a second thought. "It's fine for him to live here. He was reported because of a book. I've already gathered all the information. The policy has been relaxed recently, so I guess the result will be out soon." Speaking of this, Du Siming couldn't help but sigh again. "I wanted to give the old couple a surprise, but who knew it would be so sudden."
Huo Yang pursed his lips when he heard this, "Then I'll trouble you, Third Uncle. Du Jiang asked me to send two ginseng roots to my uncle, so I'll be in trouble for you recently."
