Ever since Du Siming and Huo Ze came to visit last time, Du Jiang and Huo Yang started to clean up. Unlike Du Jiang's shelves, Huo Yang's ranch could only hold poultry, prey, and vegetables, which couldn't fit into some cabinets. Du Jiang's shelves were not very big, and they were filled with a lot of food, herbs, gold and silver jewelry, calligraphy and paintings, leaving no room for anything else.
Looking at the large and small bags on the ground, Du Jiang and Huo Yang sighed in unison. They had underestimated the things in the house. They had not thought there were much in the past, but when they cleaned up today, they found that they had bought so many belongings over the years, including various cabinets, beddings, bicycles, radios, and all kinds of pots and pans.
"This is too much. If I carry all of them, it will probably be troublesome on the road." Du Jiang was a little overwhelmed as he looked at the seven or eight large bags at his feet, even if they were simplified. "Just getting in the car will be troublesome."
"That's true. Why don't you just bring bedding? As for food, put it on your shelf first, and then take it out after the car arrives." Even though Huo Yang could carry two or three at a time, he was still overwhelmed. "Can you see if you can squeeze these pots and pans onto your shelf? As for the stove, I'll go ask anyone in the village if they want it?"
"Why don't we put them here first? Dad has to deal with the house, so we can leave them to the buyer." Du Jiang didn't want to cause a sensation and quickly stopped Huo Yang's proposal. "Pots and pans are worthless in the village. Why not treat them as a favor?"
"That's fine," Huo Yang said without comment. "The train tickets are for tomorrow. We'll have lunch at the educated youth camp this afternoon. We'll all go our separate ways from now on, so this can be considered a farewell."
Du Jiang nodded, turned around and went to the kitchen to take down the two dried chickens hanging from the beam, then turned around and shouted towards the house, "I'll go over first, you bring Xingle over later."
"Okay, I understand," Huo Yang replied from inside the house. Then when the courtyard door rang, he went into the house and pulled Huo Xingle up from the bed.
Looking at Huo Xingle's face full of tiredness and reluctance, Huo Yang didn't feel sorry at all. He immediately put his cold hands on his back. Huo Xingle jumped up instantly, "Dad, what are you doing? I want to tell my mom."
"Wake up, it's so late and you're still sleeping." Huo Yang didn't indulge Huo Xingle at all. He immediately put her on the bed and said, "Hurry up and get dressed. We'll go to the next room for dinner. We'll leave tomorrow as a family."
"Next door, is that Uncle Guan's house?" Huo Xingle's eyes lit up. Compared to Du Jiang and Huo Yang who were not good at speaking and socializing, this little guy was even better than them. He loved walking around the streets and alleys. Who knew who he looked like?
Watching Huo Xingle getting dressed excitedly, Huo Yang folded his arms over his chest and leaned against the door frame behind him without saying a word. He just watched quietly, occasionally giving some pointers when Huo Xingle did something wrong, but otherwise he just watched quietly.
Huo Xingle was not surprised by this. Compared to his mother who did everything herself, his father was cold most of the time, but he would never ignore him.
After putting on the last sock, Huo Xingle jumped out of bed and put on the cotton boots that had been placed beside the bed. Then he looked up at Huo Yang and said, "Dad, I'm done."
"Well, let's go," Huo Yang said concisely as always, and he took the lead to walk out of the house, leading the little tail behind him and walking towards the educated youth point.
The educated youth site was exceptionally lively today. Of course, there was also a hint of loneliness, but it was negligible in the overall environment. Perhaps it was because they would go their separate ways soon. Even though Luo Yue and the others were in complicated moods, they all smiled. Du Jiang even brought two chickens over. Even if they were sad, who would care when good things happened? Of course, everyone avoided the topic of grades and school, and all the topics revolved around whether they would go home for the New Year and the local specialties.
When Huo Yang brought Huo Xingle over, a big pot had been set up in the yard, and chopped chicken pieces were placed in a basin next to it.
As soon as Huo Xingle came in, he ran to Guan Chuan's side in a familiar manner, "Uncle Chuan, Uncle Chuan, I want to help fetch water too."
Unfortunately, before he could stretch out his hand, Guan Nian and Guan Liang pulled him aside.
Guan Nian even stuffed two candies into Huo Xingle's hands and coaxed him, "Be good, the edges of the pond and well are slippery and unsafe."
Guan Liang on the side nodded in agreement, "Indeed, just follow your uncle and play here."
Qian Meili, who was peeling potatoes in the corridor, looked at Huo Xingle's fair and tender smile with envy. She felt indescribable envy in her heart. He Jiefang knew what she was thinking and immediately patted her shoulder. Then he took the knife and potatoes from her hand, fearing that she would be distracted and hurt her hand.
Yu Chunxiao, who was standing in front of the stove, had already made way just in time when Huo Yang approached, and led the absent-minded Luo Yue and the others back to their rooms. Seeing their unwavering expressions, Yu Chunxiao sighed and soothed them, "It's okay. If it doesn't work out this year, there's always next year. Besides, aren't you supposed to go home for the New Year? If it really doesn't work out, find an excuse to stay home and study for a year, or wait for the exam."
Yu Chunxiao's words gave them a new idea. While they were lost in thought, Yu Chunxiao left quietly, leaving them with only a quiet space.
By the time Du Jiang's pot of chicken came out of the pot, Luo Yue and the others had almost thought it through. At least after they came out, their complexions looked much better than in the morning and the previous few days. As for Bai Yongjun, although he failed the exam, with Guan Chuan's introduction, he would probably be able to become an elementary school teacher, so the atmosphere was harmonious.
Perhaps they would never be able to gather together like this again. Everyone at the dinner table was silent. Finally, Guan Chuan stepped forward to liven up the atmosphere. "Well, even if we weren't in the same place before, we're still family. What's more, we all know each other's addresses, so communication isn't a problem. If that doesn't work, we can call. Don't be so dejected."
After a pause, Guan Chuan continued, "Guan Nian and I will be going with Big Brother Huo and his family. I've already said hello to Principal Yu at the elementary school. Luo Yue, you and Brother Bai will go together. Now that the elementary school teachers have all left, I'm afraid they're going to have to make some big moves. You'll be fine. If you want to go, go ahead. If you don't want to go, don't bother. Just make your own decisions."
"Yes," He Jiefang, another elder brother from the educated youth camp, also stood up. "Thank you all for your care over the years. If you need my wife and I in the future, you're welcome."
"We are all a family." Compared with Guan Chuan and He Jiefang, Huo Yang's words were much simpler, but perhaps because he gave people a very calm impression, although his words were simple, they also made people feel warm.
As the meal ended, Yu Chunxiao, who was the most emotional, burst into tears. Although the others did not burst into tears, they all had red eyes, and Du Jiang was no exception.
