Chapter Seven: Stepping Forward

"Buzz~~"

BMP-1 continues its journey.

The security at the entrance has been taken care of; now they need to confirm the safety of the entire villa area, since wealthy people can afford to hire private security.

As for firepower, it's at most a few pistols and a few AKs, which is just a tickle to an infantry fighting vehicle.

What about the excavator, which weighs almost twice as much as this infantry fighting vehicle?

"Buzz~~"

A more powerful diesel engine roared up, and a yellow figure was seen walking at a speed of 5.4 km/h towards the BMP-1.

"Bang! Sizzle!"

With its poor visibility, the BMP-1 had no time to react and was knocked several tens of centimeters away by the flat ground, its tracks screeching as they rubbed against the concrete.

It's a pity. If it were a dump truck, it wouldn't have been a problem to tip it over. It's just that the excavator's walking speed is too slow!

Seeing this amazing scene, the two black men outside were stunned for a few seconds before they realized what was happening.

"Da~da~da da~~"

A burst of 7.62mm bullets swept in.

The distance to their faces was so close that it was impossible to trace the outline anymore; at least half of it fell onto the driver's side window.

The once colorless and transparent glass was instantly marked with countless white bullet marks.

Even focusing thousands of joules onto a single point and releasing them couldn't break through the upgraded tortoise shell. The only thing that could breach the excavator's defenses was the 73mm cannon of the BMP-1, but the crew inside were still dizzy and unable to operate it to retaliate.

Ignoring the two black guys who posed no threat, Xia Yu drove forward, ready to take down the BMP-1 in one fell swoop.

"Buzz~~"

Perhaps having recovered, the BMP-1's chassis began to rotate.

The intention was to use the main gun to blast this civilian excavator, which was used in a cross-disciplinary field, into a fireball.

Coincidentally, Xia Yu, who was also adjusting his posture, had the same idea.

Although he couldn't deal effective active damage against the equally resilient Iron Turtle, he could use his passive damage to take it out in one go!

The excavator body turned again, and the robotic arm stretched straight out towards the opponent's short, thick cannon barrel.

"Click~~"

The bucket teeth, made of ductile iron, struck the lowered front armor of the infantry fighting vehicle, while the gun muzzle, which had just turned, slammed into the central axis of the bucket-forearm-boom.

You offer yourself up and get kicked out? Is there really such a good thing?

Upon seeing the excavator so close in the scope, the black-bearded gunner flashed his big white teeth.

He didn't even bother to switch to armor-piercing rounds; he fired the shaped charge round directly from the chamber.

"Boom~ Boom~~"

With a loud bang, the excavator didn't explode into a fireball, but the barrel of the 73mm smoothbore cannon opened up like a trumpet.

BMP-1 dealt a fatal blow, but the fatal blow was delivered to itself.

Xia Yu, in the driver's seat, shook his head. He had some tinnitus, but it was all worth it.

Since its development and equipment were first introduced in the last century, the BMP-1 has been opened in various ways, but this is the first time it has been destroyed by a civilian excavator.

But now is not the time to be happy. Xia Yu opened the door, raised his gun, and fired a burst.

"Da~ Da da~~"

The rebel closest to him fell instantly. By the time the other rebel came to his senses and tried to retaliate, it was too late; he was hit in the chest with just one bullet.

"Zhu Zi, stay in the car and don't open the door for anyone."

After reversing the excavator, which was still able to move, a little further away, Xia Yu finished giving instructions and closed the car door.

Because he wasn't an infantryman, he had virtually no tactical skills. He ran as fast as he could on his two legs to the first fallen rebel and took off the two F-1 lemons hanging on his vest.

This thing is even older than the BMP-1 next to it, but that doesn't stop it from being useful today.

He pulled out the pin, threw a "finishing shot" into the open top hatch of the BMP-1, and ran quickly toward villa B02.

"Boom!"

A real man never looks back at an explosion. Xia Yu was propelled forward by the scorching blast wave. The remaining shells inside the vehicle exploded, with the force of a 155mm bullet – enough to lure the snakes out of their holes.

As expected, the rebel soldiers inside the villa stopped searching for valuables and came out one by one with their guns raised to see what was happening outside.

"Da~da~da~~"

Xia Yu aimed the furthest rebel at the red dot and took his life with three bullets.

In Afica, sights are much more expensive than the gun itself. He's just a jackhammer operator, not some iron sights expert, so it's understandable that he'd spend more money to improve his accuracy.

This stirred up a hornet's nest, and bullets began to rain down on him.

The good news is that this isn't the North American region. Rifle bullets can pierce through wood and paper like they're nothing against cast-in-place reinforced concrete.

Xia Yu smashed the villa's window with the butt of his rifle, climbed inside, and prepared to change positions. There were still seven opponents left.

Xia Yu pulled out the magazine and weighed it in his hand, but couldn't tell how many bullets were left. He couldn't even remember how many shots he had fired. Without even looking at the observation port, he simply replaced it with a new one.

This was just a precaution, because he might not need the gun much in the upcoming battles, so he planned to use cheat codes instead.

Releasing tanks out in broad daylight could easily lead to leaks, but storing HCBT (NSV) 12.7mm heavy machine guns mounted on tanks inside bunkers is still acceptable.

After confirming that the room was safe, Xia Yu quickly went to the window facing the enemy and released the heavy machine gun with a hand gesture.

The newly printed machine gun reeked of gun oil, and each ammunition belt contained only fifty rounds. He took out all six ammunition belts that had been replenished.

"Splash~~"

Xia Yu pulled the trigger, his index finger resting on it. Outside the window, the seven rebels split into two groups and gathered together, clearly unaware that death was imminent.

"Thump~ thump~ thump~~"

The dull thud of a 12.7mm bullet rang out, and Xia Yu began to focus fire on the four-man group on the left, resulting in a gruesome scene.

It might be a bit inhumane, but if you're going to use a machine gun, you should use a smaller caliber. However, coaxial machine guns are harder to disassemble than exposed heavy machine guns, so we had to make do.

After firing a belt of ammunition, Xia Yu coughed a little from the gunpowder smoke.

After he changed his ammunition belt, the remaining three people in his field of vision, except for one who threw down his gun and lay prone, the other two ran away into the distance without looking back.

But can a human really outrun a bullet?

"Thump~ thump~ thump~~"

With guns put away and work over, the crisis was temporarily averted.

He was preparing to lead everyone on their way, since no one knew if other armed forces would come.

Xia Yu opened the door and ran out of the villa, gun pointed downwards, to meet up with the others.

My heart ached again when I passed by the excavator. The machine itself could still be driven, but the entire robotic arm was practically useless.

The repairs were expected to take at least 10 man-hours, which would only worsen Xia Yu's already difficult financial situation.

Those damned rebels, what kind of skill is it to bully us foreign civilians?

After venting my frustrations, I grabbed the pillar and got off the bus. Now's not the time to recycle it; I'll wait for another opportunity!

The father and son returned to the construction site in Zone C, where the crowd that had been lying down stood up to welcome their hero's return.

"Xia, you...you...you must be a special forces soldier!"

Old Li's teeth chattered as he spoke, his eyes filled with shock.

He knew that Xia Yu had served in the army before, but based on his twenty years of watching domestic dramas, only Yan Shuangying could match his performance today; even Xu Sanduo was somewhat lacking.

In reality, they didn't see many scenes.

Lying on the ground, all that could be heard was the clattering of metal, and Xia Yu swiftly dispatched the group of men as if chopping melons and vegetables.

"Let's not talk about that for now. Kong Lujia looks like he's going to be in trouble too. I'll take you back to the construction team first."

Xia Yu quickly called everyone to get on the bus.

Since the motorcycle was no longer suitable for riding, he and Zhuzi got into the back of Lao Li's pickup truck, so they could fight back if anyone chased them.
