Chapter 100 Aftermath

A series of events have honed Lin Xiao's psychological coping abilities to be even stronger.

He realized something.

Since he chose the path of a professional sycophant from the very beginning, he can never go back to being the innocent person he once was.

In his mind, making money takes precedence over other options.

Then he won't care about those trivial matters anymore.

To hell with other people's guesses and ideas.

Everyone has their own philosophy of life, and his philosophy was to make enough money and then live his life freely.

He's acting like a sycophant right now so that he won't be a slave to working for others for the rest of his life after graduation.

He doesn't harm anyone; he trades his time for money. It's a mutually agreeable arrangement, and he doesn't care what others say.

Therefore, this incident did not have a significant impact on Lin Xiao.

He even accompanied Bai Youyou to the second canteen for stir-fried dishes, and she had a good appetite.

After escorting Bai Youyou back to her dormitory, Lin Xiao went back to his dormitory for a half-hour nap.

When I woke up, I found a message from my aunt.

[Hey Xiao, you're dating that girl who gave Auntie the diary? Bring her over next time so Auntie can see it. Auntie should give her a red envelope as a gift for meeting her future in-laws. Good manners are essential. (Happy emoji)]

Lin Xiao exhaled a breath of stale air and typed: [Who told you that, Auntie? Was it Chu Yingying? It's not true. It's a misunderstanding. I'll explain in detail next time we meet.]

My aunt didn't reply immediately; perhaps she was undergoing hemodialysis.

Lin Xiao looked at Chu Yingying's profile picture and remembered the AJ sneakers she had given him last time, as well as the mango mousse cake she had made herself. He wanted to explain a few things to her.

After typing a few lines, I felt it was unnecessary and not worth explaining.

Although his relationship with Bai Youyou wasn't real, his relationship with Chu Yingying wasn't real either.

The explanation is unnecessary.

So he deleted it again and put the phone aside.

Chu Yingying kept opening her chat window with Lin Xiao, repeatedly going over their conversation.

Upon seeing the message "The other party is typing...", my heart skipped a beat.

This isn't during service hours, yet Lin Xiao is contacting me. Is he going to explain that his relationship with Bai Youyou is fake?

My heart jumped into my throat.

But after a short while, no information came from the other side.

There is no longer a "typing..." message.

Her heart suddenly felt empty and she felt very lost.

She wanted to ask him if he had something to say, but in the end she didn't.

She bit her lip hard, clenched her fingers, her eyes brimming with tears, and remained motionless, like a statue, looking down at a medical book open on her desk.

But I didn't see a single page turned for a long time.

Wu Chi came in from outside, walked to Chu Yingying's side, and, not noticing her unusual behavior, spoke in a somewhat unpleasant tone.

"Chu Yingying, you don't need to follow me anymore. I'm not that cheap to have to put up with your attitude as an intern."

The other interns looked at Chu Yingying with surprise.

Chu Yingying tried hard not to let her tears fall and said calmly, "I understand, Dr. Wu. You didn't have to say it twice."

She didn't even look up at Wu Chi.

Wu Chi frowned, his face darkening.

He remained silent for a moment.

Wu Chi snorted coldly, "I'd like to see which doctor you can find to mentor you in the nephrology department."

Chu Yingying said coldly, "There's no need for Dr. Wu to worry about that."

She maintained her original posture.

Wu Chi's lips twitched with anger, he snorted coldly, and turned to leave.

The office door slammed shut.

The shock made the other interns tremble.

After they saw Wu Chi leave, they all gathered around to show their concern for Chu Yingying.

Are you alright?

"Wow, you're really something, daring to talk back to your supervising doctor. Aren't you afraid he'll make things difficult for you?"

"I heard Dr. Wu has a bad reputation. Did he... touch you inappropriately?"

...

Chu Yingying took a tissue, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, blew her nose hard, and then looked up.

"I'm fine. Thank you all for your concern. Everyone, go back to your work," she said with a smile.

The voice was calm, with a touch of composure.

Unaware of this, Lin Xiao continued working on his graduation project and drove to the Rose Garden to meet Ji Ran when the time came.

This time, Ji Ran behaved differently than usual; she was very calm.

She poured Lin Xiao a cup of tea and casually mentioned that she had been seeing a psychologist for the past week.

"It's quite useful. I feel like the obsessive-compulsive part of me is decreasing."

“I feel much more relaxed, and my relationship with my mother has also changed.”

Lin Xiao was delighted to deal with the client so easily, and laughed, "That's wonderful. Your mother knows she can't control you, so she's given up on disciplining you?"

"You could say that. In fact, all these changes were because you enlightened me."

"Thank you, Lin Xiao," Ji Ran said sincerely.

Lin Xiao nodded. "I am honored."

Ji Ran cooked dinner herself. Her cooking skills were average, but Lin Xiao still ate quite a bit to be polite.

Ji Ran watched Lin Xiao eat with relish, her eyes revealing satisfaction and relief.

After dinner, the two went for a walk in the neighborhood downstairs.

As they parted, Ji Ran smiled broadly and said, "Lin Xiao, aren't you going to give me a hug?"

Lin Xiao nodded, "Of course."

He pulled Ji Ran into his arms and smelled the jasmine scent in her hair.
