Chapter 29 A Warm Trap

Lin Xiao paused, stroking the leather goods in his hands, and looked down at the woman kneeling in front of him.

His eyes were dark and unfathomable.

She wore a burgundy off-the-shoulder fitted dress made of fine silk, with the hem reaching her knees.

She was wearing a pair of exquisite high heels in the same color.

Her makeup was exquisite, but slightly pale, and her lip color was a subtle mauve.

Her long, flowing hair, with slightly curled ends, cascaded over her shoulders, giving her a casual yet elegant look.

The second hand of the dark gray wall clock ticked endlessly.

Like the sound of water dripping.

The sound landed on Lin Xiao's eardrums, deafeningly loud.

He raised the weapon in his hand, but his thumb trembled uncontrollably.

Damn it.

She has a mental illness; does he have to become a madman like her?

Ji Ran pursed her lips and lay motionless on the ground.

She didn't even dare to breathe too loudly, for fear of disturbing Lin Xiao.

When will the sword of Damocles hanging over our heads finally fall?

At this moment, she completely abandoned her dignity as a renowned piano professor; she was simply a humble woman admitting her mistake.

In the past, she used Lin Xiao as a substitute for the student Feng Qi, and she didn't hold back when she smoked him.

She thought that doing so would not lead to any serious consequences.

After all, he was just a stand-in who was bought with money.

However, she was wrong.

When she discovered that Lin Xiao had rejected her order and blocked all her contact methods, she was in a state of panic.

Even her breathing became heavy and painful.

He wanted to escape from her.

Just like how Feng Qi disappeared completely from her life without any warning.

She went through her chat history with Lin Xiao over and over again, trying to find any evidence that he cared about her.

But no.

The fanatical look in Feng Qi's eyes was at least genuine.

But Lin Xiao's respect and consideration for her were all fake.

She felt empty inside, like trash that Lin Xiao had carelessly discarded, utterly devoid of any sense of value.

She told herself to be carefree.

Don't care about people who don't care about you.

Let him be.

However,

Whether it is late at night or when all is quiet,

Or when she was teaching students during the day,

But uncontrollably, moments of being with Lin Xiao kept flashing through her mind.

These memories replayed like scenes from a movie until her heart was completely consumed by regret and pain!

She thought,

When Lin Xiao was in the piano classroom, he would always give her a gentle and harmless smile.

That smile was warm and innocent, yet it also revealed a firm strength.

She used to think that smile was just part of his persona as a substitute, but now she understands that it was his unique tenderness.

She remembered,

On one occasion when she felt extremely tired, Lin Xiao quietly poured her a glass of warm water. The naturalness and thoughtfulness with which he handed it to her made her feel a sense of warmth from being cared for.

And another time,

She asked Lin Xiao to play a piece on the piano, deliberately making things difficult for him by choosing an extremely complex piece.

However, Lin Xiao did not back down. Instead, he focused intently on playing each note.

That persistence and dedication are now deeply etched in her mind, becoming a source of lingering regret.

And that time,

The two were standing very close to the piano. When Lin Xiao accidentally touched her fingers, she felt a strange heartbeat.

At the time, she only felt that something was wrong, but did not investigate further.

Now, recalling that moment of excitement, she realizes that Lin Xiao's influence on her has long been ingrained in her bones, and she can't extricate herself from it; only he can pull her out.

She's ruined.

She cannot live without Lin Xiao.

It took her a week to finally come to terms with this reality.

So she personally discarded the dignity she was most proud of, and for the first time in her life, she submitted to a man.

She needs him.

I need his presence, his eyes, his smile, his thoughtfulness, everything about him.

At this moment, Ji Ran was lying prostrate on the ground.

My cheek pressed against the soft cashmere carpet.

Her eyes trembled slightly, and a few teardrops seemed to still cling to her eyelashes.

Those once calm and composed eyes are now veiled with confusion and pleading.

Her lips were slightly pursed, appearing dry and pale, and occasionally trembled involuntarily, as if she were suppressing inner pain.

Although she tried to keep her face calm, the fine beads of sweat on her forehead betrayed her inner anxiety and unease.

Her cheeks flushed slightly, a mixture of shame and helplessness.

Her breathing was light and rapid.

After a moment of silence, she finally couldn't help but plead softly, "Do it, Lin Xiao. This is what I deserve."

Lin Xiao looked at the proud woman before him, his dark eyes flickering.

The snake's shadow, which had been hovering in the air, finally fell down with a snap.

Ji Ran's delicate body, wrapped in a wine-red silk dress, trembled.

However,

The expected pain did not come.

It is a long-lost warmth.

Lin Xiao pulled her into his arms from behind.

Ji Ran's body trembled slightly, and she relaxed almost instantly.

Her breathing became rapid, and her eyes involuntarily welled up with tears.

The warmth and sense of security emanating from Lin Xiao's embrace seemed to melt away all her defenses and pain in an instant.

Her heart raced uncontrollably, tears welled up in her eyes, and she finally couldn't hold them back, they slid down her cheeks.

She felt Lin Xiao's arms tightly encircling her, firm and strong, as if he wanted to piece together all her broken pieces.
