After finishing their business, Song Qingliu stared intently at Lin Xiao.
After a long silence, she said, "Lin Xiao, I saw you at the banquet that night."
Lin Xiao raised an eyebrow, paused for a moment, then smiled lightly and said, "Yes. I saw Qingliu too."
"So, what is your relationship with Uncle Feng? Why did he suddenly invite you to his birthday banquet and even seat you at the head table?"
What do you think?
Song Qingliu remained silent for a long time before finally saying, "I asked you because I didn't know. Is this question that complicated? Why are you avoiding the question?"
"You'll know in time. I can't say for sure right now."
Song Qingliu looked at Lin Xiao speechlessly and said reproachfully, "What do I do now that you've said that? You wouldn't happen to be Uncle Feng's illegitimate son, would you?!"
Lin Xiao lowered his eyes, concealing the expression in them.
Damn it.
He hated being a child born out of wedlock.
However, this was not a matter he could decide.
It seems that he didn't have much control over his own life.
Seeing Lin Xiao's strange expression, Song Qingliu smiled awkwardly and changed the subject, but she was secretly surprised. She never expected that Lin Xiao and Feng Qi were actually half-brothers!
No wonder they look alike.
After dinner, Song Qingliu invited Lin Xiao to play a few rounds of billiards, but Lin Xiao politely declined.
"No, Qingliu. I have some things to do at school, so I'll head back now. Bye."
Song Qingliu was somewhat disappointed, but she didn't say much. She saw Lin Xiao into the car and watched him drive away before turning around and going inside.
Lin Xiao listened to folk songs, driving with a blank expression, feeling somewhat agitated.
He took a few deep breaths and then slowly exhaled.
Stop thinking about it.
Compared to being homeless, starving, and watching his aunt die, his life is already much better now.
There's nothing to complain about.
After parking the car, Lin Xiao caught a glimpse of that familiar figure again.
It's Bai Youyou.
Lin Xiaomo's dark eyes flickered. Is it really such a coincidence?
The silly female student comes here for a walk every night at this time?
He got out of the car and strode forward.
Lin Xiao stared intently at Bai Youyou, who was running towards him, his face expressionless.
Bai Youyou raised her fair face and said breathlessly, "Hi, senior, what a coincidence."
Lin Xiao pursed his lips, too lazy to expose her, and simply nodded slightly, "Junior, are you taking a walk here alone again?"
Bai Youyou nodded, "Mm!"
Lin Xiao opened his mouth, wanting to tell her not to waste her time on him, that he wasn't worth it, but then he felt it was unnecessary.
What she does is her own business. She's not stupid; she just doesn't like socializing.
"I'll be going now. Bye."
After saying that, Lin Xiao strode away.
Bai Youyou chased after it for a few steps, then stopped, her eyes suddenly welling up with tears.
The senior has changed.
He became indifferent.
He no longer smiled at her, nor did he show her any warmth.
She crouched down, hugged her knees, and stared blankly at her own shadow, her eyes blurry with tears.
Although Lin Xiao left resolutely, a thought did flash through his mind: was this a bit too much? Would the silly junior sister be able to handle it?
So, despite his cold exterior, he glanced back casually as he turned the corner.
I didn't see anyone.
He paused without realizing it, and looked closely.
Bai Youyou was squatting in place, the dim light casting a shadow on her.
The nights in Jiangcheng in late November were already getting chilly.
What if that silly kid catches a cold from the cold wind?
He was utterly helpless. He took two steps back, then stopped.
Lin Xiao ultimately did not turn back to find Bai Youyou.
What's the point of him going back?
If the silly boy misunderstands again and thinks he likes her, and she continues to pester him?
Then it went on and on, causing their relationship to deteriorate and ultimately end in tragedy.
There's absolutely no need for that.
If you're going to cut ties, cut them off completely.
A moment later, Sang Ting ran up to Bai Youyou and pulled her up. "Youyou, why are you squatting here? It's so windy, you'll easily catch a cold. Want some roasted sweet potato? I'll treat you to some!"
Bai Youyou had been squatting for too long, and perhaps because she had cried too hard, her brain was lacking oxygen when she stood up, and she felt dizzy and lightheaded.
Fortunately, Sang Ting supported her, preventing her from falling.
"Sang Ting, I feel dizzy."
"Take it easy for now. Don't move."
Sang Ting patted Bai Youyou's thin shoulders and back, and sighed, "Youyou, don't come here to wait for Lin Xiao anymore! He's a bastard! He's not worth your sadness!"
Bai Youyou didn't say anything. She took out a pack of tissues from her pocket, pulled out a tissue, blew her nose, and then threw the tissue into the trash can.
Sang Ting took Bai Youyou's hand and continued to persuade her, "Come on, Youyou. Let's go eat some fragrant roasted sweet potatoes. It'll warm our stomachs and our hearts too."
Bai Youyou walked in silence the whole way, her eyes red-rimmed, and the grievance and confusion in her eyes were still visible.
After buying the sweet potatoes, Sang Ting broke open a yellow-fleshed sweet potato and handed it to Bai Youyou, saying, "Youyou, have a taste, it's very fragrant."
She took a big bite, the scalding heat making her tongue dance wildly in her mouth, but she didn't spit out the sweet potato she had eaten.
That's such a waste.
Bai Youyou took a small bite, seemingly without any appetite.
The two walked back to their dormitory side by side.
Bai Youyou remained silent for a long time before suddenly saying, "Sang Ting, it seems that senior really doesn't like me."
Sang Ting paused in her sweet potato-eating motion, her gaze towards Bai Youyou hesitant, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
Just now, Lin Xiao sent her a message asking her to go find Youyou.
