Chapter 126: For Qing'er, Stop Interfering
The front desk relayed the monitored conversation word for word. There was no sound on the other end of the phone and it was hung up after two or three seconds.
The secretary stood by and asked, "Do you want to bring her here to ask?"
Yan Baiqing took a sip of tea to moisten his throat, "Jingyan has already been interrogated, is there any need for me to ask again?"
"Miss Wei didn't tell the truth. She was the one who did it. You didn't get involved. But when Mr. Jiang heard it, it got distorted."
"I said it from the beginning, this woman is too shrewd."
The secretary hesitated, "Do you have any plans?"
Yan Baiqing closed his eyes and savored the aroma of the tea without saying a word.
He rushed to the performance hall ten minutes after the rehearsal began.
There was a figure standing in the last row of the audience. The secretary reminded him in a low voice. Yan Baiqing paused and walked over.
"There are seats in the front row." He played with his phone, walking at a leisurely pace. "Qing'er's show is the third one."
Jiang Jingyan put his hands in his pockets and said, "It's quite spectacular. There will be more people visiting the Yan family in the future."
Facing the stage, scattered lights swept across, making his face flicker, unable to tell whether he was happy or angry.
Yan Baiqing stood shoulder to shoulder with him and said, "It's all for the future and for the honor of the family. It's okay to meet. Unlike Uncle Jiang, my mother loves making friends."
"It seems that Senior Brother has inherited Director Yan's love for making friends."
He had a hidden meaning. Yan Baiqing raised an eyebrow slightly, "Jingyan is talking about me and Qing'er?"
Jiang Jingyan's lips were tightly pursed and his face was gloomy.
"We are friends, for sure." Yan Baiqing chuckled calmly, "Qing'er treats me the same way."
"If she knew that my senior brother was secretly recruiting the remaining members of Qingyoufuyuan, she might not consider you a friend anymore."
"Who would say that, you?"
Jiang Jingyan said nothing.
Yan Baiqing stood with his hands behind his back, speaking confidently, "You won't tell me, Jingyan. You're afraid it will remind Qing'er of the past and make her sad and afraid. You wish she'd never hear about Qingyoufuyuan again in her life. But you can rest assured. I won over those people only for business, not for anything else. If it weren't for Aunt Jiang, Qing'er probably wouldn't have met them."
"Brother, you should be careful about your reputation. Doing business with scumbags, aren't you afraid of getting burned?"
He glanced sideways, a hint of absurdity flashing across his eyes. "Without orders from above, it's not your turn to investigate me. I advise you, for Qing'er's sake, you should stay out of these matters."
Jiang Jingyan and he made eye contact, and the situation became tense for a moment.
Lian Zhuo reminded from behind, "Mr. Jiang, the time is up."
Yan Baiqing raised his chin slightly, his smile still gentle, "Since you are busy, I won't keep you here."
…
Before the folk music show went on stage, Wei Yin arrived backstage and seemed to be normal.
Yan Baiqing was in the middle of the third row. His eyes passed over her for two or three seconds and then moved to Chen Qing.
In the back row were Director Zhang and the association's members, who were full of praise from beginning to end, but for different purposes. The person who wanted to organize a folk music band for the opening ceremony and Director Zhang were from two different factions, with different opinions and perspectives. If Chen Qing and Wei Yin joined the association together, they would be destined to be in opposition.
The rest of your life is determined in some way.
Yan Baiqing ignored those words and concentrated on watching the show.
After leaving the stage, Director Zhang took his people to the backstage. He called his secretary and whispered a few words to him.
Halfway through the performance, Yan Baiqing returned to the reception room and Wei Yin was already waiting there.
"Well done." He took off his coat and threw it aside. "Miss Wei is so wounded. It's really admirable."
Wei Yin's eyes were still red. In fact, she had made a mistake in the song just now. The ultimatum given by Jiang Jingyan really made her feel uneasy.
Yan Baiqing asked his secretary to leave, and only two people were left in the room.
"It's not appropriate for Mr. Yan to meet me at this time." Wei Yin stared blankly at her palm, which had red marks from the soup.
"Miss Wei, are you ready to back out?"
"I couldn't win against Chen Qing, and even letting Miss Zhang run into you and meet her privately didn't work. Mr. Jiang didn't believe me."
Yan Baiqing had an expected look on his face, "Just because he doesn't believe you doesn't mean he's not afraid of rumors."
"He knows about those photos in the theater. No matter how big the rumor is, he still keeps Chen Qing by his side. What can I do?"
He shook his head, a hint of joking in his smile, "Miss Wei vowed at the beginning that the success or failure depends on you. Now that you have just lost a round and are saying such things, it is really unspirited."
Wei Yin's eyes were bloodshot, and her clenched fists trembled in her lap. "One round is enough to make me disappear. He knows the inside story of the kidnapping!"
"So, you don't plan to continue?"
"Even if I want to continue, I have to solve the current problem first." Wei Yin was a little anxious. "If Mr. Yan is here to watch the show, don't waste my time."
After a long silence, Yan Baiqing smiled and said, "Miss Wei is a smart person, very calculating. She is capable of planning a kidnapping, so how could she not think of other things?"
"What do you mean?"
"Jingyan doesn't mind the rumors about Qing'er and me. You made a wrong move." Yan Baiqing ran his index finger across the rim of the teacup, the scorching heat scorching through it. He remained unmoved. "What he cares about, what he's worried about, is something else."
Wei Yin calmed down considerably, and his fists loosened. "Mr. Yan is saying that Chen Qing—"
She didn't say anything else.
The man blew away the cool air, causing the water surface to turbulently splash out a few drops. "You've experienced Miss Zhang's temper. The most urgent thing is to find a backer for yourself."
Wei Yin suddenly realized, his back completely relaxed, he leaned back in the wheelchair and breathed a sigh of relief.
…
Chen Qing did not stay in the B&B at night. After Jiang Jingyan finished his work at Huasheng, he came to pick her up in person.
The leaders left in the second half of the performance, and the students took a rest. Chen Qing informed the teacher in charge and trotted to the gate.
There was a short horn sound behind her, and she turned around. It was Yan Baiqing's car.
The car window rolled down, and he poked his head out, his brows gentle. "Going home?"
Chen Qing was a little embarrassed and hummed, "He came to pick me up."
Yan Baiqing looked forward and saw a black car parked low-key under a tree in the night. On one side of the car window was a black cuff of a man's bent arm.
He looked away and smiled faintly, "See you tomorrow."
"Will you come tomorrow?" Chen Qing asked curiously.
Yan Baiqing didn't reply and looked at her meaningfully, but her mind was on Jiang Jingyan and she didn't care.
The two cars intersected.
The driver slowed down, and Jiang Jingyan turned his head sideways without moving, staring at the gap.
The rear window closed quickly, and he didn't have a chance to notice anything unusual in the other car.
Half an hour later, Yan Baiqing asked the driver to stop the car. Wei Yin stood up from the gap between the seats. He was wearing black clothes and a black hat. At first glance, he blended into the night.
She looked around and said, "Thank you, Mr. Yan."
"No need to thank me." The man brushed off his trouser legs. "Miss Wei, seize the opportunity and don't let me regret it."
A business car drove up from the side road. Wei Yin turned and smiled, her upturned eyes full of confidence. "Mr. Yan chose me, so I will naturally do my best. Wait for my news."
She got out of the car quickly and disappeared at the end of the road in a moment.
