Chapter 156 He Raised Me

Chapter 156 He Raised Me

Director Hou spoke cautiously and solemnly, "Are you looking for me about Mr. Jiang's matter today?"

"Yes." Chen Qing left some room for maneuver in his words. "You don't need to ask about the details. What I'm about to do is quite risky. He's currently stuck and might need you to do something at any time. I don't want you to get involved."

After half a minute of silence, Director Hou pulled out his phone and sent a message, "I can't be with you. In five minutes, please go to the entrance of a hot pot restaurant one kilometer north. Someone will meet you."

Chen Qing stood up and said goodbye.

"Ms. Chen," he suddenly called out, his tone probing, "Mr. Jiang has been accused. You know who is behind this."

Her eyelids twitched slightly, "Clear."

"Excuse me, I'm helping Mr. Jiang, so naturally I'm keeping an eye on him. You and Mr. Yan are entangled in a complicated situation, so I can't fully trust you."

Chen Qing frowned, "What do you mean."

"You will be accompanied in all your subsequent actions."

The first time Director Hou met Chen Qing was when Jiang Jingyan took her to dinner at a resort. At that time, intimate photos of her and Yan Baiqing had just been leaked, and he felt that she looked familiar. Later, he inquired about it privately and found that their relationship was indeed unusual.

He was suspicious, and Chen Qing was speechless, so he said, "It's up to you, follow me if you want."

The man sent by Director Hou was tall and strong, and looked like a thug.

"Miss Chen, you can just call me Daliang."

Chen Qing was dumbfounded. "You must be two meters tall, right?"

Daliang huddled in the back seat, feeling a bit cramped. "1.97 meters."

She clicked her tongue, "What's the difference..."

Half an hour later, the car stopped outside the city bureau gate.

Yuan Hui leaned over in the passenger seat and asked, "Isn't it too obvious that you're here to question someone?"

She put on her mask, "Like this."

Daliang opened the car door and said, "Miss Chen, I'll go explore the road first. Please come in later."

"good."

After a while, he came back and nodded.

Chen Qing put on Yuan Hui's coat and got out of the car. The dress You Meng lent her was a suspender dress, which was too tight-fitting and would be too conspicuous to wear in such an occasion.

She didn't dare to look up along the way, but no one noticed. She turned a few corners and arrived outside a meeting room.

Daliang knocked on the door. After two or three seconds, a male police officer came out in a neatly dressed uniform and stepped aside to let them in.

He poured a glass of boiled water and asked Chen Qing to sit down. "Miss Chen, what do you want to ask?"

"Mr. Jiang rescued a hostage at the Sihanoukville terminal over a month ago. I'd like to know the details."

"You don't know about this?"

Chen Qing pursed her lips in embarrassment. She really didn't ask much afterwards. She was always caught up in the emotions brought about by Wei Yin and neglected it.

"This concerns Mr. Jiang's innocence, so please keep your words short."

The man studied her for a long moment, then took off his uniform jacket and hung it on the hanger. "The accomplice we captured insisted that Zhang Zhao was the mastermind. Mr. Jiang had doubts, but after several interrogations, his confession remained unchanged. Later, he tracked down his accomplice's brother and learned some new information that seems to be related to the hostages. However, that brother wasn't involved in the case, so we have no right to detain him."

"Now someone is accusing him of having a connection with the cargo at the Westport terminal. Can't this case help him prove it?"

The man stroked the outside of the large teapot, his tone meaningful, "Zhang Zhao was arrested and turned himself in. He said that the kidnapping was indeed orchestrated by someone."

"He said Mr. Jiang ordered it?"

"That's right. There's money in Zhang Zhao's account that should have been the ransom, but Mr. Jiang didn't mention it when he reported the case. Now, the money has become a bribe. He confessed that Mr. Jiang used the fake kidnapping to deceive people and achieve the real purpose of smuggling."

Chen Qing gasped. Jiang Jingyan thought it was her who was kidnapped at that time, and he must have failed to make any arrangements beforehand, which is why he fell into someone else's trap.

"Besides this evidence, is there anything else?"

The man avoided answering.

Chen Qing clasped the edge of the table tightly and said solemnly, "I won't ask about your identity. Once I leave this door, I won't tell anyone who I've met or what I've heard."

Time passed minute by minute, so long that her breathing stopped.

The man sighed and leaned forward. "In addition to Zhang Zhao's confession, there's also another person, a supplier and legal representative of an offshore company. They testified that they worked alongside Zhang Zhao, and that there were recent signs of Mr. Jiang's involvement in the company. These two points alone, combined with the footage captured at the dock, essentially confirm Mr. Jiang's suspicion of using a shell company to transfer goods."

"But it's true that he rescued a hostage. Didn't you take a statement?"

"It's useless. According to Zhang Zhao's confession, the hostage was kidnapped without his knowledge. To avoid any mistakes, Mr. Jiang deliberately had the hostage wear his own women's clothes to prove his alibi later."

"So, in other words, as long as we can prove that the kidnapping was not planned by Mr. Jiang, that will be enough?"

The man leaned back as a sign of agreement.

Chen Qing had an idea in mind. Since the captured accomplice said that he was related to the hostages, with Wei Yin's methods, she was used to directing and acting in her own plays. As long as she found a breakthrough, she might be able to break the deadlock.

"Thank you." Chen Qing stood up and said goodbye.

The man stared at her, "What are you going to do?"

"I have never met you, so you naturally don't know what I am going to do."

He laughed, "The girl is very thoughtful."

Chen Qing didn't reply. Just as she was about to hold the door handle, the man called her.

"Write down my phone number. You can contact me anytime if you have any trouble."

She looked at him suspiciously.

The man put his hands in his pockets and said, "I've heard of Mr. Jiang's deeds. He was my role model during my student life. I believe this incident was framed. If I can help, I will do my best."

Chen Qing felt a pang of sadness in his chest and bowed slightly. "I won't trouble you any more. You've already helped me a lot by being willing to see me. There are many people behind this matter, so it's best to stay out of it to avoid any misfortune."

The man paused, stood at attention and saluted, then watched her leave.

Daliang followed closely behind Chen Qing and laughed.

"What are you laughing at?" she wondered.

"Your voice is shaking."

Chen Qing stopped and looked at him.

Daliang suppressed his smile and said, "But you have a strong aura. I've done business with Mr. Jiang before, and you look a bit like him."

The thick darkness of night enveloped the long street in the distance.

Chen Qing wiped his face with the back of his hand, "He raised me."
