Chapter 159: Step by Step
Chen Qing left Qingjumanlou at one o'clock in the afternoon.
She had guessed correctly. It was Director Liu who had helped Wei Yin resolve the situation. He had deleted the theater's surveillance footage, copied it for himself and hid it at home, and bribed the staff present at the time, including the hospital. The senior who had fallen from the building suffered a loss, and Wei Yin and him had been lovers for forty days.
Chen Qing was almost molested by him in the lounge of the charity dinner. Jiang Jingyan beat him up and handed him over to Yan Baiqing for treatment. This unintentional act allowed Wei Yin to end that dark time early and also gave her the opportunity to control Wei Yin.
Chen Qing clasped his hands in front of his chest, his heart beating wildly.
It was too dangerous. If she miscalculated, this trick would not work at all. Besides, Zhang Yun was not easy to fool, so she was only allowed to record a short clip with her mobile phone. When they separated, she was warned that if she acted on her own before the matter was settled, today's conversation would become evidence that she was harboring Wei Yin.

Chen Qing leaned his head against the car window and said in a sullen tone, "Is there still no movement in the city?"

As the car drove out of the city, dark clouds suddenly covered the sky and it became gloomy.
Chen Qing huddled in the back row and dozed off, dreaming vaguely of the two years when Jiang Jingyan was at his most glorious and dazzling. During those two years, he only returned to the Luo family six times, and he was not able to meet her every time.
Those days were not so difficult as to say the least. Her only way to entertain herself was to sit in the garden with Mr. Luo and listen to him talk about how Jiang Jingyan was able to make wise decisions and how he upheld justice.
Jiang Jingyan used to be in the army and was a pillar of anti-corruption. Those characters wearing hypocritical masks were more insidious than desperadoes. After hearing the end, she always had to ask in a petty way: Are you hurt?
Mr. Luo just smiled and said that being injured was the least of his worries. After a few rustling noises, there was the sound of a door closing. Wei Liang asked cautiously, "Excuse me, who is this?"
"Director Wei, right?" Daliang leaned forward, watching Chen Qing type as he spoke. "Wei Yin got into trouble outside, and you still have the heart to do charity work?"
Wei Liang denied it almost instantly. "Impossible, you're just trying to be mysterious. Who are you? If you don't tell me, I'll call the police."
It was this attitude that made Chen Qing certain that he was unaware of the situation.
So she seduced Wei Liang step by step according to his personality.
"Don't worry about who I am." Daliang was so vulgar that he really looked like a gangster. "Call the police and find out why Wei Yin left the theater. Stop pretending to be such a jerk."
"Yinyin was ostracized."
"Excluding her? She was the one who excluded him to the point of jumping off a building! He's still in the ICU. Are you two trying to deny your responsibility?"
"Jump off the building?" Wei Liang lost his composure and sounded panicked. "You're talking nonsense!"
"Your sister had someone delete the surveillance footage, and we finally found it. If that's your attitude, then we'll see you in court."
Daliang followed Chen Qing's instructions and hung up the phone decisively.
Within two minutes, Wei Liang called again, his voice trembling, "Let's settle it privately. As soon as I'm done here, I'll go to the hospital immediately. We'll pay for the medical expenses—"
"Who wants your money? I want her to confess. Do you know what this is called? This is attempted murder!"

Daliang suddenly fell silent, and Wei Liang's breathing became rapid, obviously he couldn't sit still anymore.
