Chapter 231 Xiao Jiang, Xiao Chen
During dinner, Chen Qing did not mention Li Xiangli. Jiang Jingyan waited until the restaurant was empty, reached under her chair, and pulled her towards him.
"We're still going through the process. Don't worry. Once the arrest warrant comes out, you can go to school."
"I'm not in a hurry." Chen Qing poured him a bowl of soup and handed it to him. "I made it myself. You didn't drink much."
Jiang Jingyan raised his hand and drank every drop. "No hurry?"
Chen Qing didn't reply, his eyes widened, "Drinking so fast, can you taste it?"
The man licked his teeth. Seeing this, she poured another bowl and said, "Drink."
"What kind of soup do you have to drink all of it?"
"Aphrodisiac."
Jiang Jingyan's gaze shifted from the bowl to her face, and he suddenly realized, "So Qing'er thinks I'm not working hard enough."
Chen Qing chuckled, "You are so shameless, thicker than the sound box of the erhu. You are not ashamed of anything you say."
"It was you who hinted at me." He finished the second bowl, put it down, and carried it upstairs.
Chen Qing buried her head in his chest, her voice urgent and embarrassed, "Sister Qin saw it!"
"You think she didn't guess?"
Jiang Jingyan took big steps, three steps at a time, entered the bedroom, kicked the door shut with his toes, and walked towards the bathroom while kissing her.
Chen Qing didn't let him turn on the light. She put her hands on his neck and kissed him back passionately.
The surroundings were quiet, and in her palm was the man's pulse beating through flesh and blood. She held her head high, and the tears in her eyes fell into her hair without him noticing.
"Let's take a shower together?" Jiang Jingyan was breathing rapidly, and his lower back was trembling and twitching slightly.
There was an ice-cold sink under Chen Qing's buttocks, and his knees pressed against his waist and abdomen. "I've already taken a bath. I'll help you run the bath water. Soak for a while to relieve your fatigue."
Jiang Jingyan just thought she was shy, and touched the switch with a sullen smile, "Okay."
The moment the light came on, Chen Qing wiped the tears from her face, jumped to the ground and cleaned the bathtub.
While Jiang Jingyan was taking a shower, he put his cell phone aside and checked messages and made calls from time to time. Chen Qing sat by the bed, listening to the magnetic and calm echo from the phone, his ten fingers twisted so tightly that not a trace of blood turned pale.
She found Wan Lihong's confession in the safe, walked out of the bedroom and went to the piano room.
About half an hour later, Jiang Jingyan came out of the shower and found a bulge on the bed.
He lifted one corner of the quilt, revealing Chen Qing who was sleeping soundly inside, with his hair covering half of his face.
"You have no conscience." Jiang Jingyan laughed, reached out to push it away, revealing the entire forehead, and gave it a light kiss.
Chen Qing woke up with a start, tugged at his hand in a daze, "Where are you going?"
"I have some official business. I'm going to the study."
"No." She snatched the phone and threw it on the bedside table, "Sleep with me."
Jiang Jingyan glanced at the time. It was just past ten o'clock.
Chen Qing didn't let go, but put his arm around his chest.
Soft like the touch of water waves.
Jiang Jingyan pulled her out of the bed and leaned close to her. Chen Qing muttered vaguely, "I'm tired."
He restrained himself, laughed out loud, and bit her earlobe, "You did it on purpose."
"I'm really tired and my waist is sore. Rub it for me." She turned over and faced away from him.
Jiang Jingyan was helpless. He sat down cross-legged and exerted force with his palms. "Here?"
"Hmm." She squinted her eyes in pleasure and hummed praise, "Xiao Jiang's cooking skills are good. I'll order you next time."
"Xiao Jiang?" The man's tone was serious.
Chen Qing shuddered and rubbed the back of his hand flatteringly, "Isn't it enough for me to call you young?"
“It’s the first time I heard it, it’s quite fresh.”
"I don't believe it. You just graduated. Do you think people will call you Mr. Jiang?"
No one has ever called him that. Before 'Mr. Jiang', he was 'Mr. Jiang'. In the army, regardless of family background, those who are close to you are called brother, and the rest are called by their positions.
Jiang Jingyan didn't bother with her and changed his hand to continue rubbing.
Chen Qing was drowsy and babbling, "From now on, your child will be Xiao Jiang."
"Couldn't it be Xiao Chen?"
"With my last name?"
"Um."
Hearing his tone that didn't sound like a joke, Chen Qing turned his head with an incredulous look in his eyes, "Mrs. Jiang will scold me to death."
"I have the final say." Jiang Jingyan held her in his arms, rubbing her waist while looking at the moonlight outside the window.
Chen Qing felt suffocated. The Chen family was practically destroyed, and her only relative had moved away with his family, unwilling to get involved. Apart from her, there was no other blood relative in the province. Jiang Jingyan wanted to use the Jiang family's glory to continue the Chen family.
He even considered this...
Chen Qing leaned back, and the man's iron chest poured almost all its strength into her, comforting her empty and illusory first half of her life.
…
The next morning, Jiang Jingyan did not go to Huasheng. The Municipal Bureau notified him to cooperate with the case of the Nanhong bracelet.
That night he pretended to leave the province, and the task force wasted their time checking flights and records. They were resentful and turned around to trouble him.
It just so happened that he needed to keep an eye on Li Xiangli's arrest warrant, so it was no big deal for him to make a trip.
The car was about to arrive at the Municipal Bureau when Lian Zhuo called.
"Mr. Jiang, something is wrong in the city."
Jiang Jingyan frowned, "What's wrong?"
"News from Wuhen Village: Li Xiangli's wife was handed over this morning. According to your instructions, the Municipal Bureau should have taken over, but she's been sent to the Provincial Department. Wan Lihong is being watched over by someone, and nothing's wrong for now. There's one more thing." Lian Zhuo calmed his breath and spoke with difficulty, "An arrest warrant has been issued, but the target isn't Li Xiangli, it's Mr. Jiang."
“Who issued it?”
"I haven't seen it yet. Our plan is indeed moving forward, but the report they received wasn't from you, but from someone else."
Jiang Jingyan shuddered, remembering that when he was about to leave, Chen Qing stood on the second floor and waved to him again and again, saying that she would not see him off, and then chased him to the door and told him to take the medicine on time.
He noticed it at the time and pinched her face to examine her, but she just said that it was because she heard him coughing intermittently last night.
Jiang Jingyan's knuckles crackled, veins bulged on his forehead, and his heart felt like it was being torn apart.
He asked the driver to change the route to the provincial government office. Forty minutes later, Lian Zhuo arrived at the same time and caught up with him. "The investigation team has come to Jiang's house."
The man walked with a brisk pace and his face was pale, obviously angry.
Lian Zhuo didn't dare to breathe, and tried his best to comfort her, "Daliang is guarding the Imperial Palace, and Miss Chen is safe and sound."
Jiang Jingyan ignored everyone's greetings along the way, glanced at Jiang Zhongyi's secretary, and walked straight into the meeting room behind him.
"Mr. Jiang! You can't—"
Jiang Jingyan pushed the door open and saw two leaders sitting at the conference table, including Mrs. Jiang.
His brows darkened, and his tone was cold, "Who did it?"
Mrs. Jiang frowned, "Do you still respect the distinction between seniority and inferiority?"
The man took a step forward, his aura intimidating. "I have something even more ridiculous. You're teaming up with outsiders to force me, right?"
