Chapter 11 Do you have a woman?
Tao Siran is a qualified female companion. She obeys arrangements, knows how to relax and is not arrogant.
Even though Jiang Jingyan rarely took the initiative during these dates, she responded appropriately when Mrs. Jiang asked about it.
She really meets Mrs. Chiang's standards for choosing a daughter-in-law.
Jiang Jingyan rarely stayed at home tonight. Mrs. Jiang was happy and pulled him aside to chat. "After the Spring Festival, there will be a charity auction. You can accompany me to it."
He stretched his legs and put them on the edge of the sofa, "What am I going to do?"
Mrs. Jiang was dissatisfied. "Have you ever appeared with me in all these years? If I didn't know what was going on, everyone in the circle would think this son was a deranged figment of my imagination. I must go, and take Si Ran with me."
Jiang Jingyan lowered his eyes, raised his cheek, and said nothing.
The servant interrupted them at this time, "The old man is back."
Jiang Jingyan's father, Jiang Zhongyi, is the most important figure in the city. As the year draws to a close, he has been busy visiting and inspecting and has not been home for more than half a month.
Mrs. Jiang came to the entrance, took the coat and handed it to the nanny, "Why didn't you say hello? There's nothing prepared at home."
"No need to prepare, I ate on the way."
Jiang Jingyan stood up respectfully and greeted, "Father."
Jiang Zhongyi has been working hard in recent years and most of his hair has turned white, but he is still in good spirits and has sharp and bright eyes.
He stepped over, "Jingyan is back."
The father and son are both busy with their own things. Jiang Zhongyi is a workaholic, and so is Jiang Jingyan. It is really hard for Mrs. Jiang, as she doesn't see her husband and son all year round.
"Yes, it's a rare day to be reunited." Mrs. Jiang smiled happily.
Jiang Zhongyi fiddled with the tea lid and asked a few questions about Jiang Jingyan's work.
He was relieved about his son.
This group of young men have all caused trouble for their families to a greater or lesser extent. Jiang Jingyan has always been committed to his duties since he was a child, and after being tempered in the army, he is a man of iron will and passion. He abides by discipline and rules, and has never done anything absurd.
"I heard from your mother that you met Miss Tao recently?"
Mrs. Jiang clapped her hands fiercely, "They're getting along! I thought I'd find a day after the New Year when you're not busy and invite Si Ran to come over. You can also check it out."
"Don't worry." Jiang Jingyan put down his teacup. "We just met. There's no need to bring him to see father."
Jiang Zhongyi also thought it was a bit too fast. He knew the Tao family well and they had a strong family tradition. The rest would be left to the younger generations to develop naturally.
In this case, Mrs. Chiang had nothing to say.
After sitting for a while, Jiang Zhongyi got to the point, "During the Spring Festival, I have to go to the districts and counties."
Mrs. Jiang paused, then her expression straightened. "When are we leaving?"
"The day before New Year's Eve."
"Okay, I'll prepare it."
This kind of thing is quite common. Last year, some areas suffered from floods. Jiang Zhongyi went to the scene in person and only returned home after the Lantern Festival.
Although Mrs. Jiang privately complained that he was devoted to his work, she was clear-headed when it came to serious matters and accompanied him when he was outside so that she could take care of him.
Jiang Zhongyi stretched his arms and stood up, "Where's Jingyan?"
"I'm going back to Zhounan."
"Return to the troops?"
Jiang Jingyan hummed, calm and composed, "I'll visit Mr. Meng by the way."
Jiang Zhongyi nodded and went upstairs to his bedroom.
He has always trusted Jiang Jingyan and has never asked too many questions.
Mrs. Jiang sighed, "I was originally thinking of asking you to take Si Ran out for a walk to improve their relationship."
"What are you in such a hurry for?"
"How can I not be anxious! After the New Year, you'll be 32! Mrs. Wang's son is the same age as you, and she already has two grandchildren!"
Jiang Jingyan grabbed his bag and ran away.
Mrs. Jiang suddenly trotted over, grabbed him, and lowered her voice, "Jingyan, tell me honestly, have you kept any mistresses outside in the past few years?"
He raised an eyebrow, "What do you think?"
Mrs. Jiang said nothing.
At such an age when he is full of vigor and vitality, without a woman, she becomes even more anxious, thinking that he may have a hidden illness.
"No matter what kind of woman she is, you must have a sense of propriety in your heart."
Jiang Jingyan showed a hint of impatience between his brows, responded vaguely, and went upstairs.
Mrs. Jiang ran after him and shouted, "After the New Year, when your father is done with his work, I will arrange a formal meeting with the Tao family. Before that, you should finish what you need to do!"
He slammed the bedroom door.
Mrs. Jiang was annoyed by her son's attitude, so she turned and went downstairs. Out of a woman's intuition, she made a phone call.
