The villagers used to carry buckets to fetch water from the river, but the weather dries up quickly these days. Often, they would spend the whole morning carrying water, only to water a small portion of the fields. By the afternoon, when the sun got strong, the water would be dried up in no time.
As the temperature rises, more and more people are drawing water from the river, and the water in that ditch is getting shallower and shallower.
Jiang Bai had the strength, but didn't want to spend too much time carrying water.
