Song woke up earlier than Xuan Yi had expected.
The Gu worms on her body were self-inflicted. When Xuan Yi used Gu to suppress the Chaotic Soul Gu, she could clearly feel that the Gu worms on her body were still there, only briefly waking her up.
As her memories from before she lost consciousness returned, her face paled slightly.
She felt little joy as the Gu worms in her body disappeared.
She hadn't suffered much hardship since childhood, and after getting married, Jiang Anliang protected her.
After being sold by Wang, she thought she would be sent to a filthy place, but instead she was sent to a dungeon.
At first, she didn't understand why she was sent there after being sold.
Later, those people tortured her and forced her to hand over the token.
She then realized that these people were not simple.
Fearing she wouldn't be able to withstand the punishment and would reveal that she had left the items at home, she seized an opportunity to release the Gu worm hidden in her earring and inflict it on herself.
Since then, she has lived a life of confusion and aimlessness.
"Mother, you're awake?"
When Jiang Bai entered the room, he found Song Shi sitting against the headboard, staring fixedly ahead, as if in a daze.
Hearing her voice, she turned her head and her gaze fell on Jiang Bai.
She stared at her intently.
Memories of the time she was suppressed by the Gu worms flooded her mind, and Song forced a smile and nodded.
"Da Ya, where are we?"
The person in front of her could not possibly be her Daya. Daya had been raised delicately by the couple since childhood and had never learned martial arts.
But the girl in front of him, who looked exactly like Da Ya, was highly skilled in martial arts and had a resolute gaze.
They have the same appearance, but different temperaments.
Furthermore, with the Gu worms in her body removed, Song was extremely uneasy, fearing it was a conspiracy by those people.
So when she heard Jiang Bai call her, she didn't refute anything, but just went along with what she said.
"This is our temporary residence."
"It's good that you're awake. We'll head back to Jiangjia Village first thing tomorrow morning."
Jiang Bai naturally noticed Song's unease and vigilance, and she never intended to hide her identity.
If Jiang Lu could see it, there was no reason why Song Shi, her own mother, couldn't see it.
"good."
Upon hearing the familiar place name, Song's fingers, which were resting on the quilt, tightened instinctively. A sharp pain brought her back to her senses, and she smiled and replied, "Okay, whatever you say."
"Then I will order someone to prepare a carriage."
Seeing Song's nervousness, Jiang Bai fed her the meat porridge he had brought and then went to make arrangements.
After Jiang Bai left, Madam Song finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Raising my hand, I saw that all ten of my fingertips were wrapped in white cloth. The stinging pain I had just felt was because I had pressed my fingers against the wound.
She frowned slightly, a sense of worry creeping into her heart.
I wonder what happened to her children after she was sold.
Given her mother-in-law's temperament, she probably wouldn't treat them well.
Song's heart clenched, and she couldn't help but laugh at herself.
Did they really think that fake Da Ya could take her back to Jiangjia Village?
Believe it or not, it really can.
When the carriage stopped outside Jiangjia Village, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar place before her, Song felt a pang of sadness welling up in her heart.
Zhang and Jiang Anshan were busy in the fields when they saw a horse-drawn carriage parked at the village entrance, so they went over to it.
Overjoyed, Zhang exclaimed, "Da Ya, is that you back?"
Before Jiang Bai left, she said that if Zhang's family could build greenhouses on all fifty-odd acres of land after she returned, she would send her youngest son to school.
Upon seeing the carriage, they quickly came to greet it.
Song was originally a bit plump, but after being tortured, she became much thinner, and from a distance, she looked somewhat like Jiang Bai.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Song felt as if she had been transported to another world. Turning her head, she saw Zhang, who looked travel-worn.
Song's head had many white hairs.
As Zhang got closer, she noticed something was wrong. When she turned around, she froze on the spot.
"Sister-in-law?"
Her expression was complicated, and she felt a sense of panic. Her eyes quickly swept over Song Shi and soon noticed the abnormality in her fingers. Zhang Shi's throat tightened.
They thought to themselves, "It's over. Jiang Bai probably won't let them off the hook."
She stood there, unsure whether to move forward or backward.
He just stood there, stunned, too heavy to move.
Song was also taken aback, not expecting to see the people from the old house as soon as she arrived in Jiangjia Village.
She frowned, turned her head away with a hint of disgust, and ignored Zhang's words.
"Mother, what's wrong?"
Jiang Bai had just gotten off the carriage to retrieve his cloak when he saw Song Shi standing there. Her eyes, which had been filled with surprise and excitement, had become as still as a deep well.
"Why is Second Aunt here?"
Jiang Bai draped the cloak over Song Shi before turning to look at Zhang Shi.
Zhang had originally intended to bring up her son's schooling, but now that she had seen Song, she dared not mention it again.
There wasn't even time to run.
"I'm just passing by, just passing by."
After saying that, he ran away in a flash.
She dared not stay any longer; if she did, she was afraid Jiang Bai would beat her up.
Seeing that she was sensible, Jiang Bai looked away, took Song's hand and asked, "Mother, would you like to go back to the old house first?"
Upon hearing the words "old house," Song instinctively refused.
"don't want."
"Alright, let's go straight to the new house then."
Jiang Bai raised his hand, and a disguised guard in black robes led a horse over.
Song looked at Jiang Bai with a puzzled expression.
My heart, which had just relaxed, jumped again, and I nervously gripped my sleeve.
She wondered if these thieves had deliberately created a Jiangjia Village to deceive her, and even invited people from the old house.
