Chapter 13 A Feast

Jiang Bai stepped forward, knocked the two unconscious with one hand each, then led them out of the Jiang family's old house, and, in the dark, went up the mountain and placed them in front of Jiang Anliang's grave.

She bowed respectfully to the protruding mound of earth, then returned to the Jiang family's old residence and used the same method to bring Jiang Anlin up as well.

Even the sleeping hen couldn't escape the fate and was taken up the mountain by her.

The fingers pressed on the acupoints on Wang's body. Wang, who had fainted, only felt pain in her neck. She slowly opened her eyes. In the dim light, she saw a high mound of earth in front of her. She subconsciously propped herself up but felt that the feeling under her hands was wrong. The cold and wet feeling made her shiver. She subconsciously opened her mouth to shout, but no sound came out.

"Grandma, please don't shout, it wouldn't be good if you woke up my dad."

The girl squatted in front of the grave mound, turning her head to look at her. In the firelight, her face was covered in blood, her eyes were sinister as she looked at her, and her tone was hollow and eerie.

She opened her mouth wide and cried for help, but no sound came out.

It's a ghost.

Ghost!

That night, they guessed that Jiang Bai was possessed by a ghost, and in the blink of an eye, they saw a person. Wang was terrified.

It can only be said that people with a guilty conscience are more afraid of ghosts than anyone else.

At this moment, she could move her upper body, but had no strength in her lower body.

Her eyes darted around frantically, and the more she looked, the more familiar it seemed. This was a graveyard, overgrown with weeds. In front of Jiang Bai was a new grave, the unburnt paper money casting a faint glow, making the surroundings seem even darker.

Under the firelight, the blood-soaked face was terrifying.

"Grandma, do you want to talk?"

"Then you tell me."

Jiang Bai leaned closer and pressed his hand against her body. Even through her clothes, Wang Shi could feel the coldness of his hand.

"You...you...you are...are you a human or a ghost?" Wang's teeth chattered incessantly, clearly terrified.

“Me? Of course I’m a person, Grandma.”

"Feel it, I'm still warm."

Jiang Bai tilted his head in confusion, put his hand on Wang's neck, and said that he was warm, but only Wang could feel that his hand was like an ice block, stiff and hard. Wang was covered in cold sweat and her teeth were chattering.

"You...you want to...do...what do you want to do? I...I am...your grandmother." Wang Shi held on tightly, even though she was terrified inside, she still spoke with a tough tone.

Jiang Bai grinned.

"My father and I just miss you. Please come down and keep us company, Grandma."

"Ah... I don't want to, I don't want to, get out, all of you get out."

"You son of a bitch, you worthless bastard."

"A money-losing product."

"You heartless ingrate."

"Get away from me, all of you, get the hell away from me."

"Otherwise, I'll smash your grave, you son of a bitch, and crush your bones."

"You unfilial dog."

Wang was terrified. She remembered that if she encountered something unclean, she should curse it. If she cursed it until it was scared away, it would leave. But after cursing for a long time, Jiang Bai in front of her not only did not disappear, but his face darkened.

"Grandma, you're being disobedient."

After saying that, he reached out and started pulling out her hair, strand by strand, which made her scream in pain. At first, she didn't feel anything, but later she couldn't take it anymore.

"I'll listen, I'll listen, die... Da Ya, don't pull it out, don't pull it out."

"How much silver did you sell my mother for?"

Wang felt a throbbing pain in her scalp and was in a daze. She subconsciously answered, "Ten taels."

"You sold her into the lowest social class?" Jiang Bai's voice suddenly dropped several octaves. He grabbed Wang's hair and pulled hard, causing her to let out a scream.

"It's her own fault for not being a virtuous woman and for seducing men indiscriminately."

Jiang Bai keenly sensed something amiss in her words. He grabbed Wang's collar, pulled her close, brought his face near hers, narrowed his eyes, and asked in a sinister tone, "What do you mean by that?"

Being so close, Wang couldn't see Jiang Bai's face clearly, only a pair of cold eyes. Startled, she blurted everything out.

Jiang Bai loosened his grip slightly, then used a knife to knock Wang unconscious. He repeated the process, interrogating Jiang Minchang and Jiang Anlin as well.

It was eventually learned that Song had been bought by a matchmaker surnamed Chen.

The day after Jiang Anliang died, Chen the matchmaker approached the people at the old house and hinted that Song Shi had been taken by someone and they wanted to buy her back.

They immediately offered a high price of eight taels of silver.

Wang was immediately enraged, feeling that Song, that shameless woman, dared to seduce men everywhere after her third son had just died. She went home and told her husband and eldest son about it.

After they finished speaking, the two women asked Wang to find the matchmaker and asked her to raise another two taels of silver, making a total of ten taels.

They really sold the Song family, into the worst possible social class.

There are only two places for someone of low social status: a concubine or a brothel.

Wang didn't know where Song had gone, only that Chen the matchmaker was Ji Laoliu's wife from Qianshan Village.

She recalled that Wang had cried to her, saying that the whole family in the old house had run out of food and couldn't survive.

Song herself is not self-disciplined, but they are doing it for her own good. It is her good fortune that people are willing to spend ten taels of silver to buy her.

Jiang Bai was furious upon hearing this, but it was true that the old house was about to run out of food.

Jiang Bai splashed half a bowl of chicken blood mixed with water onto the faces of the three men, then placed them face down in front of Jiang Anliang's grave. Jiang Bai then returned to the old house and retrieved the silver that Wang Shi had obtained from selling Song Shi from the location obtained during the interrogation.

Besides the ten taels of silver, there was also an exquisitely designed but somewhat old-fashioned longevity lock in the earthenware jar.
