He closed his eyes and dozed off for a while, but before he had fallen asleep for long, he felt Jiang Lu get up.

Jiang Bai scooped two large bowls of water into the bowl, took the gourd ladle from Jiang Lu's hand and poured it in, then added water to rinse it.
Jiang Lu's eyes almost turned green when she saw it.
"Sister, this is too much."
The little girl reached out to snatch it several times, but Jiang Bai pressed her hand back each time.
“I’ve heard from the villagers that we might be facing a drought here, so we need to be careful with our food.” In the world before Jiang Bai’s reincarnation, Jiang Lu would have been a primary school student, pampered by her family. But here, she was already worried sick about making ends meet.

After persuading the person to stop, Jiang Bai put two bowls of rice into the pot, added water, and cooked them. He then added firewood to keep the fire burning steadily. Only then did Jiang Bai sit down next to Jiang Lu, looking like he was sharing something good. He took out some silver from his purse and showed it to Jiang Lu.

"Silver?" Jiang Lu's eyes widened, her hand trembled slightly as she touched it, then picked up a piece, took a bite, and grinned, "It really is silver, sister, where did you get it?"
There was no scale, and we didn't know exactly how much silver there was, but it looked like it weighed three to five taels.
