Jiang Bai's gaze fell on them, his expression somewhat solemn.
"Twenty archers."
Ji Yanwen's expression also changed: "According to my intelligence, there are no archers in the team protecting the grain this time."
"So, this was added temporarily?"
He nodded, realizing something must have happened.
"We've already come all this way, we can't just go back like this..."
Jiang Bai looked at the disaster victims on both sides of the road, and many of them already had the intention to back out.
Even though there are thousands of scattered refugees here, without anyone to lead them, this group of refugees is just a mob and no match for well-equipped soldiers.
"You watch, when they get to the middle, I'll attack their archers first."
Jiang Bai gave Ji Yanwen a look, took the basket he always carried, opened it, and saw two bows and a whole basket of arrows lying inside.
"Can you shoot an arrow?" she asked him.
Ji Yanwen was slightly startled. Where did she get the bow and arrow?
But he still nodded.
Jiang Bai handed him a bow, pointed to the archers passing by below, and gave him ten, leaving the other ten for her to deal with herself.
At this crucial moment, Ji Yanwen didn't say much and just nodded.
"Let's do it."
As soon as Jiang Bai finished speaking, ten arrows shot out, each aimed at the right hand of one of the ten archers. Accompanied by ten screams that rang out simultaneously, a commotion immediately broke out in the grain escort team.
"Someone is robbing the grain."
"Protect food."
The officers and soldiers drew their swords and looked warily in the direction from which the arrows had been fired.
Ji Yanwen also fired three arrows, hitting the arms of three archers. He was so shocked to see Jiang Bai take down ten with one shot that his mouth dropped open.
"Go! Seize the grain!"
The word "food" seemed to have some kind of magic. The disaster victims, who were initially frightened by the fully armed soldiers, were awakened by the soldiers' shouts and remembered their purpose. They immediately swarmed forward.
They charged at the soldiers protecting the grain, some carrying wooden sticks and others carrying stones.
"Don't just stand there, take care of the archers first."
Jiang Bai rebuked Ji Yanwen, raised his bow and arrow again, and aimed at the remaining archers.
Swoosh swoosh swoosh.
Three arrows were fired, and three more archers fell victim to them.
Ji Yanwen didn't hesitate either, and fired a series of arrows, taking down several archers in the process.
Jiang Bai didn't dare to go all out, which meant that although the archers were injured, they did not lose their fighting ability. They were still able to kill quite a few refugees with their swords in their left hands.
The disaster victims, who hadn't eaten for days, were no match for the soldiers. Facing these frenzied victims, the soldiers killed them one by one, as easily as chopping melons and vegetables.
The people of Jiangjia Village didn't dare to rush forward immediately. Upon witnessing this cruel scene, they couldn't help but back down.
"Third Grandpa, are we really going to rob them?"
After the disaster victims rushed forward, the remaining villagers from Jiangjia Village naturally gathered together.
They were all ordinary villagers who had never done anything like this before, and the bravery of the officers and soldiers extinguished their enthusiasm.
They had thought there were only a few dozen soldiers at most, so they decided to take a gamble. But they never expected that there were hundreds of soldiers, which was far beyond what these peasants could handle.
"Let's see how it goes. If it doesn't work, let's run!"
Jiang Minxiao was the most senior among those who came this time, and seeing the situation below, he dared not let anyone rush forward rashly.
"Wait, isn't that Bai Yatou?"
Suddenly, one of the villagers pointed to a thin figure below and asked.
The others followed his gaze and, having seen Jiang Bai in his disaster victim disguise before, immediately recognized him as none other than Jiang Bai, who had rushed into the ranks of soldiers.
"That girl, she's always causing trouble." Jiang Minxiao slapped his thigh and looked around for Ji Yanwen.
Soon, they spotted him not far behind Jiang Bai.
He mingled among the disaster victims, and taking advantage of their obstruction, he somehow managed to snatch a knife and slashed down a soldier.
Jiang Bai was even more ruthless. She didn't even take out a knife; as soon as she saw the soldiers, she punched one of them, knocking him unconscious.
With Jiang Bai's arrival, the two hundred soldiers finally began to suffer casualties.
Jiang Bai's goal was clear: once he got close to the grain truck, he lifted it up with one hand and rushed out, leaving the soldiers guarding the grain dumbfounded.
She grabbed a cartload of grain, broke through the soldiers' blockade, and ran quickly towards the official road leading to the capital.
"You thief, where do you think you're going?"
The officer in charge of transporting the grain was furious. Where did this strongman come from? He was being humiliated.
He immediately disregarded the other disaster victims and led dozens of people to chase after Jiang Bai.
Thanks to his improved strength, Jiang Bai lifted the cartload of grain, weighing over a thousand kilograms, as if it were child's play.
He moved with lightning speed.
As soon as Jiang Bai made his move, the disaster victims reacted. They ignored the soldiers rushing towards them and just kept rushing towards the grain, carrying it and running away, which angered the soldiers so much that they didn't know which one to chase.
"My goodness, that...that's Jiang Bai?"
The villagers of Jiangjia Village couldn't help but swallow hard when they saw that scene.
A whole cartload of grain, a whole cartload, and she carried it away with just one hand. Is she even human?
"Don't just stand there! While the soldiers are in disarray, let's hurry and grab some."
Jiang Minxiao was also shocked, but he hadn't forgotten his purpose, so he grabbed the carrying pole and rushed down.
The villagers then came to their senses and rushed down the mountain in a swarm.
The officers and soldiers were scattered by the crowd and could only watch helplessly as the food was divided up by the disaster victims.
