In order to build a civilized Gotham, the Gotham City Council decided to build Arkham City and create a Sheriff position through a vote by all Gotham citizens, so as to supervise and punish criminals and ensure the safety of Gotham citizens' lives and property.
Game progress: The council releases a list of serious criminals, with Batman at the top of the list of criminals awaiting arrest.
The Arkham Knights bribed political figures to become one of Gotham's sheriffs, thus taking over Gotham.
[Previous Game Background: After your persistent entanglement and the sacrifice of Batman, you were finally taken in as a subordinate by your chosen boss, and you were overjoyed.]
But you wouldn't believe that your boss only wants to observe you and control you.
In his eyes, you are like a ticking time bomb.
But you don't care, you continue to show your determination (licking the boots), making the boss realize that your loyalty is reliable (not really).
Finally, your efforts paid off, and your boss lowered his guard—taking you on as his underling.
A sycophant, a sycophant, eventually gets everything, and after half a year of this, you become the boss's trusted right-hand man (80%).
Adrian fell silent upon seeing this. Why would someone have 80% of their hands?
If you have both left and right hands, how can you not have both left and right hands?
Feeling an itch in his brain, Adrian skipped over the internal struggle.
[The game has entered a crucial plot point; the ending will affect you. Enjoy the game!]
...The game map hasn't been fully explored, and the side quests haven't been fully collected, yet we've already reached the key plot points?
It feels like I've been offline for half an hour, not just half an hour! What happened to saving my progress?!
The game's customer service representative, who always plays against bots, said that I needed to be transferred to a human operator.
Then the line is busy, please be re-broadcast later...
Before Adrian could even berate the game company, the perspective shifted, and he officially logged into the game.
Unable to distinguish between day and night, the dazzling lights stung the players who suddenly opened their eyes.
The no longer dilapidated starting point signifies a change in the player's status. Although it's not exactly luxurious, and it sounds rather miserable, being able to order takeout can at least be considered a form of wealth.
When Adrian spotted the pizza box sticking out of the table, he knew the system wasn't lying. It seemed "he" had been quite successful in ingratiating himself with the Arkham Knight.
That's a deluxe pizza from the Iceberg Restaurant!
Adrian was relieved that this time when he logged in, he wouldn't be starving and eating grass in the game, nor would he faint from hunger on the street and attract everyone's attention. That was quite a miserable past event.
Adrian propped himself up on his arms, the old iron bed creaking as he got up, sounding like an old man working beyond his years. Adrian knew that the iron bed was actually sturdy and tough, and the "Strength Buff" hanging at the head of the bed was impossible to ignore.
The wall opposite, covered with celebrity posters, was slightly damp. The most eye-catching thing was the photo of the model in the middle with the familiar Wayne.
[Privacy-1]
Adrian stared at Wayne's blue eyes in the color-printed newspaper for a while and came to the conclusion that they weren't as good-looking as in real life.
When I stepped barefoot on the floor, I found that the soles of my feet were empty aluminum cans that had been carelessly discarded after I had been drinking.
[Privacy-1]
There was also miscellaneous household garbage. Adrian watched with a cold face as the system erratically reminded him of his privacy -1-1-1...
Silence is required here.
The sudden ringing of the bell shattered the silence of the room and reminded Adrian that he was currently in a game.
They're all games.
They're all two-dimensional characters.
It's all for the sake of the plot.
The number that appeared on the phone screen was labeled "Arkham Knight" by the system. Adrian answered it quietly and attentively.
A good henchman should neither make his boss take the initiative nor let his boss think that his initiative is out of guilt or a desire to curry favor.
"Go to the airport to pick him up in an hour. He will be in charge of everything. Keep your eyes and mouth shut."
Before Adrian could say anything, all that was left on the boss's phone was a beeping tone.
“Yes, boss,” Adrian silently finished his reply.
【Arkham Knights: The Beginning of the Siege】
[Gotham Time 1:00pm]
Adrian, who was playing a supporting role, picked up a strange man from the airport. The man was burly and imposing, a strong man no less than an Arkham Knight.
He possesses a reserved demeanor yet harbors a hidden sharpness, and always carries a samurai sword.
Who is he? Adrian wondered, as there was no one like him around his boss.
Could it be someone the boss knew before he came to Gotham?
The term "acquaintances" implies equality but disregards everyone else, as if to say that everyone present is trash.
Adrian: Okay.
Don't let him find any fault with him.
They remained silent the entire way.
When Adrian jumped out of the carriage, the Arkham Knight was tending to his beloved weapon, one of the few times he could have some peace.
But there are always people who can't stand to see others doing well. They rush around and work themselves to the bone to pick up the person, while the culprit who sent them is leisurely and carefree.
"Boss, I've brought back the person you asked for!" Adrian shouted at the top of his lungs, eager to announce to everyone that he had completed the task assigned by his boss.
Disturbed, the Arkham Knight slammed the magazine shut, his face expressionless beneath the Domino's mask, and barked:
"Shut up! You're yelling at me like I'm going to meet God!"
Adrian quickly admitted his mistake: "I was wrong, boss."
"...Go find the scarecrow, and don't show your face in front of me if you can't find it!"
Adrian took the task seriously and earnestly sought external assistance.
"Pino, have you found any trace of the Scarecrow?"
The hacker, being urged, said: "...The exact location has not yet been found."
And then there's the question, "Your skills are probably no worse than mine, so why don't you investigate it yourself?"
"I've already paid."
Adrian, who outsourced the task, felt no remorse; he only wanted to know if his money was well spent, and besides, he was no longer the penniless newbie in the game he once was.
He was currently tracking his boss, who was quietly doing big things. Adrian, watching the two talking, suddenly asked, "Pino, do you know anyone who likes to wear orange and black bodysuits? He carries two knives on his back."
The tapping of the keyboard paused for a moment. "Orange and black two-tone bodysuit? As far as I know, there's only one Deathstroke."
Fearing his employer might not trust him, he explained, "Deathstroke is the undisputed number one mercenary in the world; no one dares to impersonate him."
The implication is that anyone who dared to impersonate him is already dead.
"Deathstroke, I didn't hire you to lecture me. I just want to know if you accept this or not!"
The Arkham Knight's icy voice rang in Deathstroke's ears. Deathstroke crossed his arms and said, "Jason, this isn't about whether I support you or not. It's about whether you know how to back down after you've brought the Legion into Gotham."
Why did his most prized student insist on fighting Gotham and Batman to the death? He had rarely seen anyone who wanted to fight back after seeing the world, but none of them troubled him as much as Jason Todd.
He initially went to see Talia just to get Batman's bird, and besides, how interesting it would be to train a bird that had come back from the dead. Now he's fallen into a trap with someone named Jason Todd.
Slade looked back on the painful past.
"I don't regret the good or the bad. Batman and I have to have a resolution!"
Only now did Jason begin to shed his Arkham Knight persona. Has anyone ever experienced being consumed by jealousy and hatred day after day? He was being consumed by it.
Slade hesitated, then said, "I accept your employment, but you must..."
Words of concern always stuck in his throat; they would come out as commands but then fall silent. Slade thought he had already lost many children, and he didn't want Jason to suffer the same fate.
His most outstanding student.
Slade couldn't just leave Gotham without a care in the world; he knew that those who stayed would suffer the most, and this time he didn't want to be the one who suffered.
Slade looked into the eyes of the Arkham Knight: "You must live."
