Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Wu Tong sat in the car looking at the sea outside the window. A bad premonition came to his mind. He patted his chest lightly, picked up the water bottle and took a sip.

The police officer assigned to guard Wu Tong noticed that Wu Tong seemed a little unwell and asked with some concern, "Counselor Wu, are you okay?"

"It's okay." Wu Tong responded.

The policeman was about to say something to ease the tension between them when Wu Tong suddenly interrupted him: "What's taking them so long?"

The policeman was stunned for a moment and replied, "Hmm... maybe there are some important clues in it."

As soon as he finished speaking, Wu Tong opened the car door and got out. Seeing this, the police immediately chased after him, still shouting at him: "Advisor Wu, Captain Xiao said you should stay in the car..."

Wu Tong turned around and smiled at him: "Then you can go with me."

Police: “?” Okay.

Then he and Wu Tong went to the lighthouse together. The policeman kept talking all the way. At first, Wu Tong responded to him politely, but later his patience ran out. He only said "hmm" occasionally and didn't say much.

The police officer continued, "Captain Xiao said you and he are friends. Is that true?"

Wu Tong: “…”

Fake, it’s my boyfriend.

Arriving at the bottom of the lighthouse, the police came forward and said a few words to his colleagues, and they let Wu Tong in. On the way upstairs, Wu Tong felt something was wrong, and as soon as he stepped into the door, he was pulled over by a hand. Before Wu Tong could see clearly, he was pushed against the wall. Wu Tong was startled and looked up to see Xiao Yuncheng's face half hidden in the darkness.

The surroundings were eerily quiet. Wu Tong couldn't see clearly, but he felt that Xiao Yuncheng's breathing was very rapid. He tentatively touched his arm and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

"Why are you here?" Xiao Yuncheng's voice was hoarse.

Wu Tong replied: "I see you guys have been out for too long, I can't sit still."

Xiao Yuncheng slowly let him go and turned on the flashlight. There was no one around. Wu Tong was a little surprised: "Are they all out?"

"Well, we've almost finished checking everything." Xiao Yuncheng took his hand and pulled him in front of a wall. Wu Tong looked up at Xiao Yuncheng, but couldn't see his emotions clearly.

Wu Tong's bad premonition grew stronger and stronger. He tried to break free from Xiao Yuncheng's hand. Xiao Yuncheng sensed Wu Tong's resistance and turned around to ask, "What's wrong?"

"I was just wondering what's wrong with you." Wu Tong looked at Xiao Yuncheng with a puzzled expression. He asked, "What did you see? Why are you so abnormal?"

Xiao Yuncheng lowered his head, and darkness engulfed his face. From Wu Tong's perspective, Xiao Yuncheng's face could not be seen at all.

Xiao Yuncheng said in a deep voice: "What is the relationship between Xu Ze and you?"

Wu Tong was confused: "Didn't I tell you everything about my relationship with him?"

Xiao Yuncheng said nothing more, silently flicking on the flashlight and shining it onto the wall. Wu Tong followed the beam, and the scene on the wall unfolded before his eyes. How could he not recognize the person on it? That was the painting he'd done when he was 18, that was what he looked like.

Wu Tong stood there in a daze. Xiao Yuncheng walked up and pointed to a sentence engraved under the graffiti. Wu Tong looked over and saw the words clearly.

He didn't expect Xu Ze to be so paranoid about him... Wu Tong let out a long breath. He looked at Xiao Yuncheng, his voice trembling: "You... don't believe me anymore?"

Xiao Yuncheng wavered for a moment, staring straight into Wu Tong's eyes. After a long while, he shook his head and said, "No, I believe it."

Wu Tong gave a bitter laugh. He walked towards the wall and raised his head slightly. The graffiti and reality faced each other. For a moment, Wu Tong returned to that rainy night when he was 18 years old. He sat quietly in front of the drawing board, holding the palette in his hand. There was no other sound around except the sound of rain, and only the subtle sound of him taking the paint and stirring it. The moonlight was dispersed by the rain, and the light that came in was not even enough for Wu Tong to see what color was on the palette.

He just mixed the color he thought looked best based on his feelings.

Wu Tong walked out of his memories and returned to reality. He looked at Xiao Yuncheng and shook his head silently. Xiao Yuncheng understood what he meant, and just took a step forward, took him into his arms, and whispered "I'm sorry".

Wu Tong knew that it was not his fault. Xu Ze designed it for him to see. He still shook his head and couldn't say anything.

"Captain Xiao, we've packed up all the evidence. Shall we go back now?"

The police's voices came from outside the door. Xiao Yuncheng said "Okay" loudly. He took Wu Tong's hand and said gently, "Let's go."

Wu Tong couldn't see Xiao Yuncheng's face clearly now, but he knew that Xiao Yuncheng must be very handsome now. He was the freedom that was out of reach but within reach for him.

Back at the Municipal Bureau, everyone gathered in the evidence room and placed all the evidence they found on the table. Wu Tong stood next to Xiao Yuncheng, looking through all the evidence while listening to their conversation.

"This is the powder from the burning of blue tea, and these are a few tubes of used paint we found at the scene..."

Paint tubes? Wu Tong looked up and saw the paint tubes.

But if he remembered correctly, the graffiti on the wall only used one kind of paint, so why were there five kinds of paint tubes here?

Xiao Yuncheng noticed him staring at the paint tubes in a daze. He asked softly, "What's wrong? Did you find anything?"

Wu Tong came back to his senses and said to Xiao Yuncheng, "I want to see those paint tubes."

Xiao Yuncheng asked someone for gloves and handed them to Wu Tong. Wu Tong put on the gloves fluently and took out the paint tubes one by one. Wu Tong carefully distinguished the colors of these paints. When he recalled the graffiti at the lighthouse, he suddenly looked up and asked Xiao Yuncheng: "What color was the graffiti at the lighthouse?"

Xiao Yuncheng recalled and replied, "Blue, what's wrong?"

Wu Tong nodded after hearing this, and handed a paint tube to the trace examiner, saying, "Please cut it open, thank you."

The trace examiner took it immediately and quickly cut open the paint tube, only to find faint words inside. He said, "There seems to be words inside!"

"Clean the paint." Wu Tong said to the trace inspection personnel.

But the trace investigators were stunned for a moment. You know, if you clean the paint tube directly, it is very likely that other traces and clues on the paint tube will be washed away. If you don’t find any useful clues after washing, it will be a big loss.

But when he looked up again, he met Xiao Yuncheng's affirmative eyes, so the trace inspection personnel did not hesitate any longer and directly washed off the paint, wiped it clean and brought it back. Everyone came forward to read the words inside, which read:

Cobalt blue PB28————The eighth word in the second paragraph of "Tumi Bridge".

"'Tumi Bridge'? What is that?"

Wu Tong lowered his eyes and said, "It's a nursery rhyme from my diary when I was a child."

Xiao Yuncheng asked again: "Do you still remember what you wrote?"

Unfortunately, Wu Tong shook his head, indicating that he didn't remember either. But Wu Tong added, "I have kept that diary. It's at my house. I'll go back and look for it now."

He was about to turn and leave when Xiao Yuncheng took his hand and said, "I'll go back with you."

Wu Tong looked at him and raised the corner of his mouth: "Okay."

The two got in the car, Xiao Yuncheng reminded him to fasten his seat belt, and drove Wu Tong out of the city bureau. Wu Tong's state was not right along the way, and he looked a little depressed. Xiao Yuncheng secretly glanced at him several times, and finally couldn't help asking, "Tongtong, what's wrong with you?"

Wu Tong glanced at Xiao Yuncheng sideways. He didn't answer him immediately, but just stared at him intently, making him feel a little uneasy. Xiao Yuncheng began to doubt himself: Did I say something wrong? Why is Tongtong unhappy? Could it be because of what I did to him at the lighthouse that he was upset? Yeah, that was probably the case.

Xiao Yuncheng, who had finally figured it out, was about to turn around and apologize to Wu Tong, but Wu Tong stopped him: "Xiao Yuncheng, do you feel sorry for me?"

"Ah?..." Xiao Yuncheng didn't expect to hit him, so he suddenly asked this, and he didn't know how to answer him for a moment.

Wu Tong leaned back in his chair, his hand gradually touching his stomach, and he laughed helplessly: "I know what Xu Ze means, but I am a little unwilling."

Xiao Yuncheng suddenly felt that Wu Tong was so fragile. He was like the white jade-like Tu Mi, so pure, but forced to be stained with blood and then burned mercilessly. The beauty only existed at that moment and disappeared randomly.

Xiao Yuncheng stopped the car on the side of the road. Wu Tong was wondering why he stopped the car suddenly, but as soon as he turned around, he was hugged by Xiao Yuncheng. Xiao Yuncheng's warm breath hit the back of his neck. Wu Tong's movements stiffened, and he stared with his eyes wide open, at a loss.

Xiao Yuncheng held Wu Tong's face in his hands and kissed her carefully, as if he was carefully protecting his own baby. His eyes were full of tenderness and cherishment. He opened his mouth and said, "Tongtong, everyone's arrival in this world is not decided by anyone. It is your arrival. There is no regret. It just depends on whether you are willing to understand these knots in your heart."

"Tongtong, I know you endured a lot of injustice and pain as a child, but people should not only remember the past, but also look forward. Dwelling on the past will only lead to more regrets. So, don't be afraid."

"I'm still with you."

I will accompany you and accomplish everything you want to accomplish.

Wu Tong was stunned for a moment when he heard what he said, and he almost didn't react. He just stared at Xiao Yuncheng blankly. Xiao Yuncheng kissed him gently on the lips and pressed him into his arms again. The warmth of his lover's arms wrapped around Wu Tong's cold body, and the temperature gradually flowed into his body and into his heart.

Wu Tong chuckled and raised his hand to hug Xiao Yuncheng back. He rested his face on Xiao Yuncheng's shoulder, feeling his heartbeat. He said, "Thank you."

Wu Tong withdrew from his embrace and looked at Xiao Yuncheng with a smile, but her eyes were already misty: "Thank you, brother."

You are my only light in this world.
