Lin Hai is not good at things like killing.
In previous wars, this kind of work was mostly done by sworn brothers. The only smell of blood that could be smelled in the rear was probably the wounded soldiers from their own side. However, Lin Hai knew that it was impossible for him to stay clear of blood forever.
Lin Hai is now filled with the smell of blood.
The fighting broke out in the afternoon.
According to Lu You's investigation, the enemy had at least two hundred people, and it was obvious that the last robbery was only a part of their force. Fortunately, there were only about thirty or forty of them who could fight, and the rest were refugees who were forced to flee.
The so-called mountain stronghold across the way was actually just a few thatched huts and some fences halfway up the mountain. Outside the fences, there was some cultivated land, scattered with wheat and vegetables. There was also a small paddy field at the foot of the mountain, and a few pigs and a flock of chickens were raised in the fenced area up the mountain.
When Lin Hai and Lu You conducted their second close-range reconnaissance, they could clearly see two pigs lying lazily in the sun at the gate of the fence. A small group of chickens went in and out of one straw shed and kept digging at the pig manure everywhere in the village with their claws, trying to find some undigested food. The pig manure particles flew everywhere and were eventually trampled by passers-by and carried to various places in the village.
Lin Hai looked at this messy village and felt that at least the village had achieved unity in smell.
Not far away, there was a man who looked like an old farmer, collecting pig manure with a wooden shovel under the scorching sun, and throwing it forcefully over the fence into the vegetable field outside.
Well, land that can hardly produce any food, pigs that can't make 20 kilograms of bacon, three chickens that can fill a pot, skinny old farmers, bandits who are almost all asleep, and a stronghold that looks completely defenseless.
This is the result of Lin Hai and his team’s last reconnaissance.
Perhaps those capable fighters and the supplies they looted were in the largest thatched house behind the village, but Lin Hai and his men had no intention of sneaking in to investigate. After confirming that there were no traps at the village gate, Wang Liang ordered: "Raise our flag and attack!"
The first to issue an early warning was the pig at the village gate.
When Wang Liang rushed into the village gate with a ring-handled knife, the old farmer who was still slowly spreading the pig manure suddenly knelt on the ground with lightning speed, kowtowed violently, and buried half of his head in a pile of fresh pig manure. Then he pointed his left hand to the side and back, pointing to the thatched house that Lin Hai and others had long suspected. He didn't say a word the whole time, and shivered in the pig manure.
However, the pig at the door, upon seeing a large group of people rushing in, instantly jumped up and ran towards the village, alarming quite a few people. Unfortunately, even if a pig really got into the largest thatched house, only a loud shout could be heard from inside: "Old Liu, keep an eye on my pigs, or I'll feed you to them."
The battle was over fairly quickly.
Several of the sworn brothers cast iron hooks and snagged the roofs of several thatched huts. Lin Hai ordered the militia to pull hard, burying most of the enemy's fighting force. A few figures finally emerged from the grass, but before they could be seen clearly, they were shot like hedgehogs by arrows. The rest of the militia, under the guidance and cover of their sworn brothers, moved the beams and weeds to pull out those who were still alive and those pretending to be dead.
After an inventory, the harvest was not small.
There were only about a dozen bandits still alive, all wounded. One of them, a fearless man with a scar, tried to resist. Lin Hai commanded the militia, who surrounded them with a dozen spears. The scarred man, armed with a machete, knew he had no chance of survival. His face was ferocious and he roared and yelled things like, "Drag someone down with me," "My martial arts are unparalleled," and "Come on if you dare." Although his sworn brothers considered his words barely a desperate struggle, more of an entertainment show than a cornered beast, they still managed to frighten the militia. The fact that he could frighten a dozen people by himself was a highlight of the scarred man's life.
Of course, Lin Hai doesn’t think it would be a pity if life ended at the most glorious moment of life.
So Lin Hai walked behind a militiaman and kicked him hard on the back.
The militiaman, who was so nervous that he was sweating profusely, held his spear tightly. He was caught off guard by Lin Hai's kick and fell forward. With a "puff", the spear pierced steadily into the scarred man's stomach.
"Okay, well done. You can choose a chicken for yourself later. It's up to you whether to eat it or raise it." While the militia was still in a daze, Lin Hai praised loudly from behind, and then gave Wang Liang a look.
Wang Liang felt like he had added another responsibility... After giving Lin Hai a look that asked, "Why is it always me?", he said loudly, "Not bad, you're a good candidate. After some training, you can work with me."
Getting a chicken is a great reward.
There are only about ten chickens in the entire village, not enough for everyone to share.
Soon the militiamen came to their senses. He had already been stabbed once, so he wouldn't blame me if I stabbed him a few more times.
After comforting themselves and preparing themselves mentally, the militiamen glanced at the flock of chickens next to them, and stabbed their spears into the body of the scarred man one after another, until they could not stab him any further in the stomach or chest. The last one aimed at the face of the scarred man lying on the ground twitching, gestured for a long time, and finally stabbed him.
Ding, headshot achievement achieved.
Just as the last man gasped and looked at the chicken beside him, Lin Hai said quietly, "Only the first one to poke the chicken in will get the chicken. You guys are just whipping the corpse at best, not really meritorious service. However, whoever pokes the chicken out will get a bag of the recovered food."
Well, at least it’s some psychological comfort.
A scarred man, with dozens of spears sticking out of his body like yellow broom branches, lay on the ground, soon dead. Lin Hai walked over to the scarred man, as if he was tired and needed something to hold on to. He held onto one of the spear shafts on his body and said to the hundreds of people kneeling in front of him, "I have some questions to ask. Who of you can answer them? If you answer well, you can live."
