Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Next Day
29
Xie Huai answered the phone, his gaze sweeping over the other end, revealing an indescribable expression.
Wen Zhuo had a premonition that something bad was going to happen. Although she felt no guilt about leaving without looking back, she was even regretting that she hadn't slapped Wen Zhaoye a few times before she left.
Leaving aside what he did last night, when she woke up today, a dormant memory suddenly resurfaced for some reason.
She then realized why Wen Zhaoye had been making more and more inexplicable intimate gestures lately, and she also knew what he was angry about the next morning.
Xie Huai looked at her increasingly ferocious expression: "Here's your brother's phone number. You didn't even tell him before you came?"
Wen Zhuo took two big steps back, his gaze wandering aimlessly in the still empty room: "Why should I report to him where I go? Please respect my damn right."
Wen Zhaoye on the other end of the phone vaguely heard some of it. He ordered Xie Huai to turn on the speakerphone. Xie Huai's curiosity grew stronger and stronger, and he quickly turned on the speakerphone.
A cold, somewhat distorted voice suddenly rang out in the room:
"Wen Zhuo, aren't you going to take responsibility for what happened yesterday?"
These few words were like a thunderbolt. Although Xie Huai had some guesses, he was still shocked when the person himself confirmed it.
"The world is going to the dogs," Xie Huai shook his head.
Wen Zhuo's wandering gaze fixed on Xie Huai's phone, scanning the surroundings warily before finally settling on it.
Although she was indeed the one who initiated this whole thing, this person ignored her when she tried to stop it! Why are you pretending to be wronged?
Wen Zhaoye's voice was still a little hoarse. Wen Zhu guessed that it was because he kept calling her name last night, calling Wen Zhu's name in different ways, but responding didn't work and not responding didn't work either.
After waiting for a long time without her response, Wen Zhaoye's lips curled into a cold smile: "Little sister, be good and go home."
His voice was somewhat muffled, as if wind was blowing into the phone, and Wen Zhuo's hair stood on end instantly: "Where are you right now?!"
As soon as she finished speaking, a knock sounded on the door. Wen Zhuo's scalp tingled, and she immediately darted out like a rabbit released from a bow, leaving only a white afterimage in the air.
"Click." The door opened, and a man appeared, wearing only a simple white shirt with a few buttons casually fastened. There were obvious red marks on his fair neck, and several teeth marks were imprinted on his deep collarbone.
A red thread suddenly appeared, straightened, and Wen Zhuo's steps at the other end of the thread were forcibly stopped.
Wen Zhaoye didn't immediately grab her back. His face was flushed, as if he had rushed over in a hurry. He glanced at Wen Zhuo and saw her tremble. He guessed she was cursing him again. He smiled and turned to Xie Huai: "How is she?"
Xie Huai said briefly, "It's a blessing in disguise. Now not only is my soul healed, but I can also run around on my own."
Ignoring his teasing gaze, Wen Zhaoye continued to ask, "Will this method continue to work afterward?"
Xie Huai was taken aback, frowned, and looked at him as if he were a ghost: "Are you in such a hurry?"
Wen Zhaoye ran his fingers along the ethereal line, not understanding what he meant: "The broken parts of her soul have been repaired, but the wounds are still there. Can't we continue to heal like this?"
"Oh, I see. Then this scar can't be removed."
Wen Zhuo faced the wall without speaking. She didn't understand how things had suddenly turned out this way. She should have known better than to ask. Anyway, Wen Zhaoye was going to ask, and it would only make her feel awkward for a while longer.
Wen Zhaoye is really something, why didn't he say he was coming sooner? She wouldn't have had a chance to escape!
She kept her head down, banging it against the wall, her head sinking into the wall and then constantly pulling it out.
No, does Wen Zhaoye have other ways to find out her whereabouts besides this line of communication? Otherwise, how could he have arrived so quickly? It couldn't be that Xie Huai secretly passed the message to him, could it?
That's possible.
She huddled in the corner, shaking her head, unaware that the room had fallen silent and one of the two people who had been chatting had left. She was still in a state of collapse.
It's all Wen Zhaoye's fault for not telling her beforehand! Ugh! So annoying!
She had her hair all tangled up, and with one hand she took her fingers, untangled the strands of hair that were caught between them, and skillfully combed her hair with her fingers.
"If you keep catching them, it'll turn into a chicken coop."
Wen Zhuo: "..." Why is he so natural?
He bent down and hugged Wen Zhuo, resting his chin on her head. He then grabbed Wen Zhuo's chin with his other hand, pinching the flesh of her face as he asked her questions. The vibration of his voice came from the top of her head, making her ears numb and her head spin. Wen Zhaoye talked for a long time, but Wen Zhuo didn't hear anything.
She hunched her shoulders and pressed her head hard against Wen Zhaoye's chin, leaving him speechless for a moment.
"Let go, let go, let go of me!" Wen Zhu struggled frantically.
Wen Zhaoye's temples throbbed with pain from her beating, but he still entangled himself with her limbs: "Are you still going to renege on your debt?"
Wen Zhuo did hear this: "What debt am I denying? I don't have any debt at all!"
“Little sister, you climbed on top of me first.” Wen Zhaoye pulled up her still struggling hand and pressed it against the bite mark on his collarbone, stroking along the texture of the teeth marks. “The evidence is still here.”
Wen Zhuo continued to deny it: "You have no evidence!"
Wen Zhaoye wouldn't be that perverted, would he?! Installing surveillance cameras in his own room?!
"There are security cameras in the room. Would you like me to check them?"
Wen Zhuo: "..."
Wen Zhaoye lowered his head again, bending over in a strange posture to look at her expression: "Why aren't you saying anything? Don't you know I've installed a lot of surveillance cameras?"
Who knew you'd install it in your own bedroom?!
Is that correct?
Wen Zhuo was speechless; she surrendered: "Then how do you want me to take responsibility?"
Wen Zhaoye turned her over and carefully examined her. Wen Zhuo's skin was now almost like that of an ordinary person, fair and rosy. He pinched it for a long time without leaving a mark. He grabbed Wen Zhuo's earlobe and rubbed it, but Wen Zhuo tilted her head back to avoid it.
She still couldn't quite accept it.
Wen Zhaoye frowned, his fingers, which had missed their mark, pressed against the back of her neck, pulling her forward. His dark eyes stared directly at her: "Wen Zhuo, you're avoiding me again."
His words fell like a hypnotic chorus: "I am your closest brother, why are you avoiding me?"
"Don't hide from me, don't hide from me."
"Wenzhuo, Wenzhuo, don't hide from me, my dear sister."
Stop reading, stop reading! Wen Zhuo felt the tight band around her head was already squeezing her neck.
Considering that she was indeed in the slightest bit of the wrong, she decided to reluctantly back down and hide away to calm down as soon as she got home!
Wen Zhuo held her breath and pulled his other hand back, placing it behind her ear and looking at him with a blank expression.
Wen Zhaoye smiled and rubbed her earlobe. Wen Zhuo's neck went numb from his rubbing, and she suppressed the urge to break free.
"Sweetie, lift your head up so I can kiss you."
