Chapter Thirty-Two: Hide and Seek 2.0

Wen Zhuo lay on her back on the bed, her black hair spread out on the surface. She held up her phone, which displayed Xie Huai's reply:
[AAA Local Ghost Hunting: Wen Zhaoye told you everything? His obsession, in order to supply you, irreversibly transformed into a kind of yin energy, which is also the source of your power.]
[It's raining today: His face has become so pale lately, almost as pale as mine. Is this a side effect of this product?]
Xie Huai was somewhat surprised. Had Wen Zhaoye's body already reached this state?
He sensed something was amiss. Why was Wen Zhaoye bringing this up in front of her? He immediately changed the subject and chuckled.
[AAA Local Ghost Hunting: Really? He seems pretty normal to me. Maybe he lost too much blood.]
Xie Huai reluctantly stopped typing and called Wen Zhaoye. The other end rang for a long time without being answered, and Xie Huai snorted coldly. "If you don't answer the phone, don't blame me when your sister comes looking for you!"
He dialed again with a cold face.
The call connected quickly this time, and Wen Zhaoye's voice came through, accompanied by a jumble of background noise:
"Hey, what's up?"
Xie Huai hesitated for a moment before speaking. Wen Zhaoye, that pervert, probably knew what he and Wen Zhuo had talked about. So, he decided not to go up there and get scolded. He readily changed the subject.
He vaguely heard someone calling him "President Wen" from Wen Zhaoye's side.
"What are you doing? Socializing? Aren't you going to spend time with your sister?"
Wen Zhaoye was shrouded in a heavy atmosphere. This social engagement was added at the last minute and couldn't be canceled. The more unpleasant his expression was when he answered the phone with his assistant, the happier Wen Zhuo was.
Wen Zhuo jumped out of the closet quickly, circled around Wen Zhaoye who was on the phone twice, and then happily went back to her room to play on her phone.
Wen Zhaoye: "..." Waiting for him to come back.
Wen Zhuo didn't care about what happened next. She always liked to enjoy the happiness of the moment. She darted back, made a face at Wen Zhaoye, and just as Wen Zhaoye was about to catch her, she suddenly floated upwards.
"Hehe, go ahead and get busy!"
Wen Zhaoye stared at her funny face, and the flash went off again in front of Wen Zhuo.
Wen Zhuo: "You took pictures of me without my permission again!! Delete them now!"
Wen Zhaoye laughed out loud. The dim light reflected on his face, giving his pale skin a rare touch of color. Although no one dared to make things difficult for him, sitting there inevitably led to him drinking a few more cups. His lips quickly straightened, and he said to Xie Huai expressionlessly, "What exactly do you want to say?"
Xie Huai: "Haha, it's nothing. Just concerned about your health. Drink less, or you'll die!" He quickly hung up the phone.
Wen Zhaoye frowned and glanced at his phone in confusion. What was Xie Huai doing?
He put away his phone, turned around, and stepped back into the dimly lit room.
The lamplight flickered, the alcohol churned in his stomach, and his head began to throb in waves.
Perhaps due to excessive blood loss recently, my body has become quite weak.
"Buzz~ Buzz~"
His phone suddenly vibrated beside him. He glanced down at it but couldn't see clearly. He blinked several times, but still couldn't get a clear look. In the confusion, his finger seemed to accidentally press something, and a burst of static suddenly came from the phone. His assistant looked down at his phone.
"Sister? Mr. Wen, you have a sister?" The assistant hesitated. If he remembered correctly, Mr. Wen's sister had passed away a long time ago.
It was very noisy around him, and Wen Zhaoye couldn't hear what he said. He picked up a bottle of strong liquor that no one had touched and took a few sips to perk himself up.
A familiar voice suddenly rang in his ears: "Wen Zhaoye? Brother? What are you doing?"
More effective a sobering agent than strong liquor, he mumbled a few responses while holding his phone, and quickly left the private room.
The people in the private room looked at each other with puzzlement as he sped away.
"When did President Wen get married?"
"No, no one notified me. I was even planning to introduce my friend's daughter to me."
"Hey, Assistant Li, you're always by President Wen's side, have you noticed anything?" Someone noticed the assistant who was still in a daze and casually put his arm around his shoulder, putting his arm around him.
The assistant gave a polite smile: "I'm not with President Wen every day. I'm just an assistant. I can't be like a fan and follow the person in charge's private life every day."
The man nodded, but his expression still seemed somewhat disbelieving. The assistant didn't say anything more. He glanced at his watch, a hint of worry on his face: "President Wen has been gone for a long time. I'll go check if something has happened."
At the end of the corridor outside the private room, Wen Zhaoye leaned his head against the wall, speaking into his phone in a low, hoarse voice.
Upon closer listening, it seems that their statements don't quite match up.
"Wen Zhaoye? You've been drinking? Aren't you supposed to be a terrible drinker?" A light, melodious female voice rang out, echoing in the empty corridor at the end, making it sound even more eerie.
"Little sister, did you miss me?" He asked with his eyes closed, his words unreadable.
Wen Zhuo: "? What? I'm asking you why you drank so much?"
Wen Zhaoye: "Are you coming to see me?"
Wen Zhuo: "???"
Wen Zhuo: "Actually, you're eating hot pot at a Yunnan mushroom restaurant, right?"
"Aren't you coming to see me?" he said.
"Why haven't you come to see me yet?" His voice suddenly became very low, and it was unclear who he was talking to.
Wen Zhuo shut her mouth and stopped talking. After a while, Wen Zhaoye stopped talking to himself and told her to go see him, as if he had accepted some fact.
Wen Zhuo sat on the bed, pinching the sheets with her fingers, pulling out a bunch of wrinkles from the smooth edges. After she finished pinching, she felt a little guilty, so she covered them with the blanket and said to Wen Zhaoye opposite her in a cold voice, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Wen Zhaoye leaned against the wall, staring into the darkness before him: "Say what?"
Wen Zhuo's voice rang out again: "Is there anyone around you?"
"No, what's wrong?" he asked casually.
Wen Zhuo stopped talking. He glanced at the screen and saw that the call had ended.
Wen Zhaoye held his phone in front of him, still leaning against the wall. This was the deepest part of the corridor, connected to the emergency exit. Usually, no one passed through here. The passage was very dark, with only the exit sign faintly emitting a green light.
Suddenly, a faint chill filled the air. He lowered his eyes, his pupils, hidden by his eyelashes, trembling with excitement.
A white figure suddenly appeared out of thin air, accompanied by a thick, chilling aura that belonged only to ghosts. The female ghost had delicate features, and her fox-like eyes were wide open. She hadn't expected to be so close to Wen Zhaoye after coming out, and a trace of panic and shame flashed across her face.
"Why are you standing so close to me?!"
Wen Zhaoye hugged her, turned her over, and pressed her against the wall. Wen Zhuo seemed to be still confused about how things had developed to this point.
"Weren't you half-dead? How do you still have the strength to grab me? This doesn't make sense!"
Wen Zhaoye leaned on her shoulder and laughed: "Do you think you're scientific?"
"Of course it's science! Quantum mechanics, relativity, and all sorts of other things—there's bound to be something that can explain it all. I'm such a scientific person!"
Wen Zhaoye closed his eyes, and Wen Zhu hugged his back and patted him hard: "Why aren't you getting up? You're so heavy."
I miss you so much.
Wen Zhuo was stunned: "What did you say?"
Wen Zhaoye raised his head, revealing his dark eyes, which showed a clarity that shouldn't be there at this moment.
He looked directly into Wen Zhuo's eyes.
"I said, I miss you, I want to see you, I don't want you to be separated from me for even a minute or a second."
He stroked Wen Zhuo's head: "Why can't you become a doll forever? Stay in my pocket forever."
Wen Zhuo immediately got goosebumps. She pushed against Wen Zhaoye's chest, saying, "Stop dreaming! Let go, let go! You're so heavy!"
Wen Zhaoye pressed down on her, and Wen Zhuo felt a mountain pressing down on her. At this moment, she felt very sorry for the Monkey King who had been pressed down by the Five Finger Mountain for five hundred years.
"If it really doesn't work, try a different position. How am I supposed to carry you if you're like this?" Wen Zhuo tried to lift him up with both hands.
Footsteps suddenly sounded in the empty and quiet corridor, and Wen Zhuo's voice disappeared instantly, stuck in his throat.
She didn't understand why they were playing this hide-and-seek game all the time. She was the one playing hide-and-seek; shouldn't this be her territory?
Wen Zhaoye looked up at her, his tongue somehow licking her lips. Wen Zhuo's lips were wet from his licking, and he seemed to suddenly enjoy Wen Zhuo's helpless state.
He kissed Wen Zhuo's eyes, which were staring at him, and whispered in her ear, his deep voice carrying a slight chuckle: "What should we do? We're about to be found out."
