Chapter 216 I'm Going!

"Yes!" A fierce glint flashed in You Ye's eyes, and he immediately took out a specially made bamboo whistle from his pocket, put it to his lips and blew hard!

"Beep—beep—beep—" Three short, sharp whistles pierced through the shouts of battle and clearly echoed throughout the mansion!

This was a pre-arranged signal! Upon hearing the whistle, the guards in the southeast corner immediately understood. They deliberately slowed their resistance slightly, even "panicking" and taking a few steps back, allowing several of the most agile men in black to take the opportunity to scale the wall!

"Charge in! Find that woman!" The leader of the men in black, who had scaled the wall, grinned maliciously, slashed down a guard who was caught off guard, and jumped into the courtyard with several of his accomplices!

However, what awaited them was not the chaos and unimpeded advance they had imagined!

The instant they landed, several poisoned crossbows shot out silently from the shadows inside the courtyard wall, like ghosts!

"Thud! Thud! Thud!" Precise and ruthless! Several desperate criminals who had just gained their footing did not even have time to react before the crossbow bolts pierced their vital organs, and they fell to the ground without uttering a sound!

The leader was extremely skilled and reacted incredibly quickly. He dodged the deadly crossbow bolt with a clumsy roll, but a bloody gash still appeared on his shoulder! He was filled with shock and anger. Just as he was about to call for his companions, he realized that of the few who had climbed in earlier, only he was still standing! A chilling killing intent locked onto him from all directions!

"Oh no! We've fallen into their trap!" The leader was terrified. Knowing that he couldn't stay here any longer, he turned around and tried to escape by climbing over the wall!

"Trying to leave? Too late!" A cold snort rang out! You Ye, like a cheetah hunting its prey, burst forth from the shadows to the side! The steel blade in his hand, accompanied by a piercing whistling sound, aimed straight for the leader's back! The blade flashed like a bolt of lightning, so fast that only a blur remained!

The leader was also fierce and brave. Sensing the deadly wind from behind, he didn't turn around. Instead, he lunged forward and swung his sword backward in an attempt to block! This move, "Su Qin Carrying the Sword," was executed with extreme skill!

A piercing clang rang out as metal clashed against metal! Sparks flew everywhere!

You Ye's knife was parried, but the leader's arm was also numb from the shock, and his blood was churning! He used the momentum to rush forward, trying to create distance and climb over the wall.

However, just as his old strength was exhausted and his new strength had not yet been generated, the flat bluestone ground beneath his feet suddenly and silently flipped open!

"Crack!" A pit covered with sharp barbs suddenly appeared!

"Ah—!" Caught off guard, the leader lost his footing and plummeted into the pit with a scream! The gleaming barbs at the bottom of the pit instantly pierced his body! Blood gushed out like a fountain!

"Ugh... Heh heh..." The leader convulsed painfully at the bottom of the pit, his eyes wide with resentment, before dying.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye! The desperate outlaws outside the wall, still struggling to climb and try to provide support, only saw a few of their companions disappear into the sea after they climbed over the wall, their screams lasting only a brief moment! Meanwhile, the resistance of the guards on the wall instantly became fierce and organized, with arrows, logs, and stones raining down like raindrops!

"The boss's done for!"

"There's an ambush! Retreat!"

The desperate outlaws outside the wall were terrified; they dared not linger. With a shout, they abandoned several corpses and burning debris, fleeing like stray dogs into the dark alleyways, vanishing without a trace. Only a few embers remained, flickering in the night wind, illuminating the cold, grim faces of the guards atop the wall.

The chaos in the southeast corner of the mansion came quickly and went even faster. From the rocket warning to the enemy's rout, it took less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea.

Inside the warm pavilion, Xin Jiuwei listened as the shouts of battle outside quickly subsided, and her tense back finally relaxed slightly. She gently patted Lin Jingshu's still icy hand: "Sister, it's alright. It's over."

Lin Jingshu finally recovered from the shock, leaning against the soft pillows as if all her strength had left her, panting heavily, tears belatedly welling up in her eyes: "I was so scared... so scared... Wei'er..."

You Ye strode into the warm pavilion, still carrying a trace of gunpowder and blood, but his expression was invigorated: "Madam! There were thirty-seven attackers in total. Twenty-one were shot dead outside the wall, and seven were killed in the courtyard (including the leader). Three were captured alive, and the rest fled! We have five lightly wounded, but no one was killed! The three captured men have had their jaws removed to prevent them from committing suicide, and they are being closely guarded and interrogated by the secret guards!"

"Good!" Xin Jiuwei's eyes flashed with a sharp light. "Well done! Tell the brothers that they've worked hard and will be richly rewarded! Treat the wounded properly immediately! Make sure to pry open the mouths of the captured prisoners! I want to know who ordered this and if they have any other tricks up their sleeves!"

"Yes!" You Ye accepted the order and turned to leave.

"Wait," Xin Jiuwei called out to him, her gaze fixed on the southeast corner of the window, where the firelight still lingered. "How's the fire?"

"Don't worry, Madam. It only burned some of the surrounding bushes. The fire wasn't big and has been basically extinguished."

Xin Jiuwei nodded, took a deep breath, and said in a deep voice, "Pass down the order: the alert level within the manor remains unchanged! The enemy may retreat, but they might return with a vengeance, or launch a feint attack! No one should slacken their vigilance! Until His Highness returns!"

"Understood!" You Ye replied solemnly, and quickly left to make arrangements.

A meticulously planned night raid was swiftly and decisively thwarted by Xin Jiuwei's calm command and the iron-fisted response of the mansion's guards and secret agents, even leaving survivors. The news spread like wildfire, reaching hidden corners of the capital before dawn, causing immense shock and panic.

The following morning, as the first rays of sunlight pierced the clouds and illuminated the majestic beast head on the lintel of the Sixth Prince's residence, the gates slowly opened. Xin Jiuwei, dressed in an elegant moon-white palace gown with a silver fox fur cloak that flared slightly at the waist, accentuated her graceful figure. A hint of weariness lingered on her face, but her eyes were clear and resolute. Surrounded by You Ye and several elite guards, she stood atop the high steps of the gate.
