Chapter 4 Qi Huaiyu sows discord between the sisters

Xin Jiuwei refused: "No."

Unexpectedly, she refused, and Qi Huaiyu was somewhat displeased. "This hairpin is of great significance to Yingxue. Don't be so selfish."

Young Master Chen also said, "Yes, yes, why doesn't Miss San do me a favor?"

Xin Jiuwei coldly said, "What do you take my flower-viewing banquet for? One minute it's for the wet nurse, the next it's for Miss Xue who didn't even participate."

"They were carefully selected and brought here by others, how can you treat them with such contempt?"

Qi Huaiyu frowned. "Why do you have to be so rude?"

Xin Jiuwei remained silent, but Miss Ye, who had brought the hairpin, timidly spoke up.

"Since it's such a special thing, then... let's give it to Miss Xue."

Xin Jiuwei paused for a moment, then came to her senses. "Now that the things are mine, of course I have the final say."

Miss Ye was gentle by nature, and lowered her head uneasily upon hearing this. Her friend, seeing this, said with dissatisfaction, "She is only sympathizing with Miss Xue, why are you being so aggressive?"

Xin Jiuwei asked in surprise, "What did I say?"

"Xin Jiuwei," Qi Huaiyu said, suppressing his anger, "none of them have offended you. You shouldn't be so rude."

Xin Jiuwei said, "Is it not rude of you to force people to do things against their will?"

"Enough." Xue Yingxue finally spoke, raising her slender neck. "I have no interest in women fighting over this hairpin. I don't want it."

Xin Jiuwei scoffed: "It wasn't yours to begin with, so why are you asking whether you want it or not?"

Xue Yingxue's expression stiffened slightly. She glanced at the hairpin a few more times before looking away. "I don't want to argue pointlessly. I'd rather use this time to do something meaningful."

"Huaiyu, Young Master Chen, let's finish discussing the article."

"Very well, very well," Young Master Chen quickly replied. "Miss Xue is so magnanimous."

Xue Yingxue was most pleased with this kind of praise. She smiled modestly, glanced at Xin Jiuwei, and walked away, lifting her skirt.

Xin Jiuwei watched her leave with a cold eye, but she wasn't in a hurry.

Now that Xin Jiuwei has been given a second chance at life, she naturally wants to deal with Qi Huaiyu, this ungrateful wretch, first.

She wanted to see if Xue Yingxue would still be eager to marry him once she found out that Qi Huaiyu was just a wet nurse's son.

The group returned to the men's section, with Qi Huaiyu being the last to leave. Before leaving, he said to Xin Jiuwei, "You were so inconsiderate today."

The noble ladies at the table had different expressions.

Many of them envied Xue Yingxue's carefree and generous nature, and in this situation, they also felt that Xin Jiuwei was a bit stingy.

Xin Jiuwei didn't care what they thought. She called over Uncle Xin, who was in charge, and said, "It's getting late. Let's call it a day. We'll see the men out as well."

Uncle Xin hesitated, "It seems that things aren't over with Young Master Qi yet."

"Whether they get married or not is none of my business," Xin Jiuwei said. "There are plenty of restaurants outside; why must we discuss such sensational topics here?"

"Or is it that, Uncle Xin, as the steward of the Xin family, you only listen to Qi Huaiyu and not to me, the third young lady of the Xin family?"

Uncle Xin was speechless after being rebuked by her words, and could only lead his servants to see the guests off.

Whenever the Xin family held a banquet, Qi Huaiyu would talk so much that he would never pay attention to the time. No matter how late it was, Xin Jiuwei would wait until they finished before having someone clean up the mess.

If they were to leave now, Qi Huaiyu would definitely not be happy. But does Xin Jiuwei even care whether he is happy or not?

Sure enough, after the guests left, Xin Jiuwei was stopped on her way back to her own courtyard.

Qi Huaiyu's face was icy cold. "What do you mean?"

Xin Jiuwei tilted her head. "What do you mean?"

"You've been incredibly inconsiderate today," Qi Huaiyu frowned. "Ying Xue only wanted her mother's belongings, and you're being so stingy in front of everyone. What will outsiders think?"

"And my mother didn't do anything wrong, so why did you embarrass her in public?"

As he spoke, his eyes revealed undisguised disgust, "How will you be a good wife and daughter-in-law in the future if you act like this?"

Xin Jiuwei found it amusing; Qi Huaiyu had been pampered in the Xin family for too long, and he really thought of himself as a son-in-law.

She had just turned 18 that year, and they hadn't even gotten engaged yet.

"Now you know she's your mother, so why didn't you dare acknowledge her earlier?"

Qi Huaiyu's expression was somewhat unpleasant. "Of course I have to consider the overall situation."

Xin Jiuwei scoffed, "Mr. Qi's grand vision is something most people can't handle."

Qi Huaiyu frowned, "Why are you saying such awful things today?"

Xin Jiuwei had just been reborn and was eager to see her family, so she had no energy left to get entangled with Qi Huaiyu.

"If you don't want to hear anything worse, then leave." Xin Jiuwei raised her chin, her eyes naturally revealing the arrogance of a noblewoman. "Don't forget your place."

After saying that, she stopped looking at him and turned to leave.

"Xin Jiuwei!"

Qi Huaiyu frowned and stopped her.

Suddenly having her wrist grabbed, Xin Jiuwei tried to shake it off. This action only enraged Qi Huaiyu, whose anger intensified.

"What's wrong with you today?!"

He asked with such confidence that Xin Jiuwei felt annoyed but couldn't break free.

"What are they doing now?"

A familiar yet unfamiliar voice rang out, and Xin Jiuwei's nose tingled with emotion. She turned around abruptly, "Sister!"

The owner of the voice slowly walked over from a distance.

She had beautiful eyebrows, phoenix eyes, a face as white as jade, and a graceful figure.

She was none other than Xin Xiyao, the eldest daughter of the Xin family, who died in her previous life due to a failed marriage.

Xin Xiyao was just passing by. When she saw the two of them struggling, she didn't go any closer. She just frowned and looked over with some disdain.

"In broad daylight, if you're going to pull or shove, at least find a secluded place. What kind of behavior is this?"

She had always looked down on Qi Huaiyu, feeling that her younger sister had been bewitched ever since she fell for him. In previous conflicts, Xin Jiuwei had always sided with Qi Huaiyu. Xin Xiyao found the two of them annoying and eventually stopped caring.
