Little Sweethearts 04

Little Sweethearts 04

"It's so late now. She'll be frightened and nervous. She has to get up early tomorrow." Xu Cheng'an paused. "I won't play any jokes on her."

Jiang Qixin picked up the dishes from the corner and put them back in the kitchen, then returned to the room in her slippers.

Lying in bed, she stared blankly at the ceiling. The air conditioner in the room seemed a little too cold. Jiang Qixin rolled over in bed and tucked herself in under the quilt. This room was indeed cooler on normal days.

Jiang Qixin rented the house in the spring of this year. At first, she thought the cold wave had not yet dissipated, so it was normal for the house to be a little cold.

Although it was already midsummer, there was still a gloomy feeling in the house, which made her feel that even without turning on the air conditioner, the indoor temperature was still suitable for sleeping.

The security in the area was also very good, and she had never heard of any bad things happening around here, so she didn't think much of it.

She covered herself with the quilt, placed one hand on her belly, and held a medium-sized doll in the other hand. She sniffed the familiar scent of the quilt and soon fell asleep.

Occasionally, you could hear the sound of water flowing through the bathroom pipes, and the sound of one or two drops of water dripping from some faucet.

The room was very soundproof. Jiang Qixin lay on her side while sleeping, and heard a banging sound next to her eardrum which was pressed against the pillow.

That was the sound of her heartbeat.

Jiang Qixin fell into a deep sleep with the sound of his own heartbeat as his pillow.

Xu Chengan sat in front of her, just looking at her sleeping face, quiet and peaceful. She was most relaxed only when she was asleep.

Fabricating dreams would drain a lot of his energy, but the only way he could make Jiang Qixin see him was to make her remember his dreams. So Xu Cheng'an would try again and again to enter her dreams, trying to fabricate a happy dream for her.

But Xu Cheng'an didn't know why each of his dreams always ended in tragedy. He also didn't know why Jiang Qixin couldn't remember the dreams she had with him.

Maybe this is God's test for him.

Xu Cheng'an sighed, reached out and gently touched her head. He could feel her presence, but Jiang Qixin couldn't.

He sat down beside her as usual and lay down silently, hugging her from behind through her thin quilt.

She seemed a little tired today and hadn't had any dreams. Xu Cheng'an felt her body temperature, which was much hotter than his, and spent a quiet and ordinary night with her.

Finally, it was Friday. Because Jiang Qixin's project team had recently successfully completed an important task, to celebrate, the project leader suggested leaving get off work early in the afternoon and going to the sixth floor of the company for a barbecue.

The sixth floor of the office building where they were located was a place for employees to rest and relax. There was an entertainment room, a gym, and a large open-air sightseeing balcony, which was perfect for barbecues.

Although Jiang Qixin didn't like socializing, she had no reason to refuse as it meant she could cook one less meal in the evening.

In the past, Xu Chengan always cooked for her. Since she started living alone, she picked up her cooking skills which she had lost for ten years and learned to cook many dishes that Xu Chengan had taught her before.

However, she doesn't like cooking, and she has to work part-time at her side job many nights. Jiang Qixin often just finds a restaurant with suitable food in the mall to have dinner that day.

Sometimes I eat too early and feel hungry again when I get home and get ready for bed, so I just beat an egg and cook a bowl of noodles, or just make a bucket of instant noodles.

She lived this simple but not rough life alone for more than four years.

When the colleague in charge of food purchasing brought the food over, the sky was still bright and clear.

After the barbecue grill was set up, one could vaguely see a layer of golden light covering the horizon.

"Do you want some grilled oysters? I'll get them for you." Song Jing looked up and glanced at them for a few seconds, then turned to Jiang Qixin and said.

She nodded softly.

"Thank you, Sister Jingjing." She took the grilled oysters and a skewer of grilled chicken wings handed to her by Song Jing.

Jiang Qixin looked up at the horizon. The city at night was still noisy and disturbing. Even though she was not on the lower floors, she could still hear the sound of cars passing by. She moved a chair to sit in a corner and ate quietly.

She has a good temper, high education and strong working ability, so she is popular. However, Jiang Qixin is a bit dull and doesn't like to talk much. To put it bluntly, she has some social anxiety.

However, her colleagues were familiar with her and knew her personality, so they did not disturb her and she immersed herself in her own world.

Song Jing joined the company a few years earlier than her. Jiang Qixin was even trained by her for a month when she first joined. In addition, their workstations were close to each other, so she and Song Jing had a good relationship and they could even chat sometimes.

However, after Song Jing helped her pass food several times, she suddenly had something to do and left temporarily.

Jiang Qixin looked back at Song Jing's departing back and seemed to see Director He at the elevator door.

Is there still work to do so late at night after work? Jiang Qixin pouted and leaned against the wall to gnaw on the last chicken wing in her hand.

She put down the plate in her hand. She seemed not to be full yet. However, the meat on the grill was still uncooked and could not be eaten yet. Jiang Qixin looked around and locked her eyes on the soda on the table.

"Want some soda? I'll pour it for you." She had just stood up to look for a disposable paper cup when Lin Wenle's voice came over.

She raised her head and looked at him, then said a little embarrassedly, "Okay, thank you for your trouble."

"What trouble are we talking about?" He laughed and poured her a glass of soda and handed it to her.

Jiang Qixin pursed her lips and subconsciously said thank you. In the department, the person she was most familiar with was Song Jing, and the second was probably Lin Wenle.

She and Song Jing were actually in charge of different areas and majors. However, Lin Wenle was her direct senior, two years ahead of her, and like her, had been working here since graduation.

However, he was transferred from the headquarters to the branch only a year ago.

When he was a graduate student, he had taken her and other students to participate in projects and competitions. So Jiang Qixin was naturally more familiar with Lin Wenle than with other colleagues.

Although they hadn't crossed paths in the year after he graduated, they reconnected when he transferred to this department.

He moved a chair and sat next to her, "It's quite cool on the balcony." Lin Wenle looked around but couldn't find the wind vent where they were.

"Maybe it's the north wind blowing at night?" After hearing him say that, Jiang Qixin felt that it was indeed not that hot now.

"It's not good to stay in an air-conditioned room all the time. It's good to breathe some fresh air more often."

Jiang Qixin raised her head and took a breath of air, only to be intoxicated by the fragrant smell of cumin in the air. She lowered her head and drank some orange juice to satisfy her craving.

Lin Wenle quickly understood her expression and said, "What do you want to eat? I'll grill it for you. I remember you like spicy food."

Jiang Qixin looked up at him. Actually, she didn't like to trouble others, but before she could think of how to refuse, Lin Wenle helped her bake some food, put it on a new plate and brought it back to her.

He picked up the kebab on the plate and handed it to her.

"Thank you." Jiang Qixin took it, and her fingertips unconsciously stroked the back of his hand. Lin Wenle seemed to pause.

But now Jiang Qixin's attention was attracted by the barbecue, and she didn't see his expression at all.

The setting sun in the sky became completely dark, and the lights on the outdoor balcony also lit up, but Jiang Qixin was sitting in the corner, and the light was not as good as outside.

Just when she thought Lin Wenle was going to sit back in his previous seat and eat with her, he suddenly knocked over the juice on the table. Fortunately, there was no one around, so the juice simply spilled on the table and the floor.

Orange juice gathered along the table and dripped from it.

Lin Wenle looked back at her a little embarrassedly and said, "I'll go get a rag to clean it up. You can eat whatever you want on the plate. It was originally baked for you."

"Oh, okay, thank you." Jiang Qixin glanced at the orange juice that had been placed on the table. She clearly remembered that the last person to pour the orange juice was Lin Wenle.

And she was sure she saw him screw the cap back on, he had just put the barbecue plate on the table and ended up spilling the orange juice.

She shook her head. Maybe someone poured juice later but she didn't see it.

Jiang Qixin looked up at the sky. Night had fallen but not a single star could be seen. The stars in the city were becoming increasingly harder to see.

The temperature this morning was over 30 degrees Celsius, but now it was exceptionally cool, and it seemed to be getting lower and lower. Jiang Qixin touched her arms, which were exposed to the air because of her short-sleeved shirt, and thought that she would go home after eating a few more bites.

By the time the barbecue dinner was over, it was already dark. Those with cars dropped by to take those who lived alone home. Jiang Qixin drove herself, said goodbye to Song Jing and the others, and then went to the company parking lot to go home alone.

Because she often worked part-time at night, she often returned home in the dark, so she was a little bolder. However, recently she usually did not work on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This was the time she reserved for herself to catch up on sleep.

It was a rare day when she got home before eight o'clock, but Jiang Qixin was used to getting ready to wash up as soon as she got home. Tonight, she changed into slippers as usual, put away her clothes and prepared to wash up.

By the time I finished drying my hair, it wasn't even nine o'clock yet.

There was no sound in the silent room. Jiang Qixin felt a little bored. She didn't seem to have any way to relax and entertain herself. She would occasionally play some single-player games or watch some TV series. Apart from that, she was either working, eating or sleeping.

It was just too early, and she couldn't sleep. Jiang Qixin remembered that she had collected several movies last month, but had never had time to watch them. Coincidentally, one of them had a supporting role played by her friend. Thinking it would be a good way to kill time, she turned on the projector in the living room and sat on the sofa.

The rental house was quite a distance from the main road, but there were many side streets nearby, and a lot of cars passed by. She walked to the balcony in her slippers and closed the door, leaving only a small gap. Then she sat back on the sofa and started watching a movie.

Although there is a friendship filter for her friends, this movie is really boring, and Jiang Qixin watched it for a long time without finding any shots of her friends.

She was originally sitting upright on the sofa, but then she began to sway from side to side, and now she is just lying on the sofa.

The sofa was a new one she bought when she moved here. It was very soft and comfortable. She fell asleep on the sofa, with the evening breeze blowing in from the gap in the balcony door and the continuous lines of the movie actors in her ears.

-

The scene in front of me is a little hazy.

Are you dreaming?

Jiang Qixin felt as if his eyes were covered by a layer of fog.

She now sat on a chair, looked down at her feet, and found a lot of toys and building blocks.

Jiang Qixin blinked and found that the scene in front of her became clear in an instant. This seemed to be the toy room when she was a child. She bent down and picked up a Barbie doll. It seemed that Xu Chengan bought it for her with his New Year's money when she was a child.

But later on, there was a period of time when Jiang Qixin was very immature. He felt that he had grown up and should study hard and not be a little kid who only knew how to play with toys.

From then on, she rarely went into her toy room, and the study became her second toy house.

When she grew older, she would open the door of the toy house from time to time to look at her toys that were covered with dust. It was a place where she could rarely find her childhood memories.

Although the picture in front of him was still black and white, Jiang Qixin always felt that what he was seeing was a picture with a pink filter.

There were a lot of disassembled building blocks on the ground. She loved playing with building blocks when she was a child and could sit in the house and play with them quietly for an entire afternoon.

Sometimes when she couldn't understand the steps in the instructions, she would ask Xu Cheng'an to help her.

Jiang Qixin picked up the assembly instructions that had fallen on the ground. The words on it were too small and she could hardly see them clearly.

"What are you looking at?" Xu Cheng'an walked silently, leaned against her and asked her softly.

"The instruction manual seems to be the instruction manual for castle building blocks." Jiang Qixin put the instruction manual on the table, looked at the knocked-over building blocks on the ground, and finally remembered that these were the castle building blocks she bought for her Barbie doll.

But because it was too big, she spent a long time assembling it but failed.

Just when Jiang Qixin wanted to walk away and look somewhere else in the house, Xu Cheng'an suddenly hugged her from behind.

"Jiang Jiang." Xu Cheng'an buried his head in her shoulder and whispered her name.

"Well, what's wrong?" Her body stiffened, and her stomach was wrapped by his arms. Jiang Qixin raised her hand and touched Xu Chengan behind her.

"Will you always love me?"

"Ah?" Jiang Qixin made a somewhat puzzled sound. Xu Cheng'an seemed to seldom ask her such questions. Their relationship was very natural. They were childhood sweethearts who knew each other very well. In terms of feelings, Jiang Qixin actually felt that she regarded him as a family member first, and then as a lover.

And Xu Cheng'an was her nominal brother.

Not getting her reply, Xu Chengan became even more panicked, and he couldn't help but tighten his hands on her waist.

Sometimes he really wanted Jiang Qixin to forget him and the blow his death brought to her, but he was very selfish and he couldn't accept that Jiang Qixin would really forget him slowly.

This contradictory mentality troubled him for a long time.

Xu Cheng'an knew that Lin Wenle had a crush on her. He hated all the boys who pursued her, and had been on guard against them since childhood, but now he couldn't defend himself anymore.

Jiang Qixin tilted her head, as if she had heard his unusual tone. She loved being held by him. On many peaceful nights in the past, they had watched countless TV series and movies while cuddling on the sofa. Although Xu Chengan had no interest in these things, he loved to do everything with her.

But Xu Cheng'an usually just hugged her gently, because he was afraid that the hugging posture would be uncomfortable, so he didn't dare to hug her too hard, so he rarely hugged her as hard as he did now.

Jiang Qixin pushed his forearm with her hand, still holding the Barbie doll she had just picked up on the ground.

"What's wrong? Your eyes seem a little red?" Jiang Qixin turned around and looked at his face. She leaned her head towards his face and blinked, asking in confusion.

Xu Chengan forced a smile at her, "Will you forget me?"

Actually, it’s good to forget. Maybe you will be happier if you forget.

"What are you talking about?" Jiang Qixin felt that Xu Cheng'an seemed a little confused. She raised her hand and rubbed Xu Cheng'an's face. "Even though we broke up, we still had to go home together for the New Year."

She smiled and pinched Xu Chengan's ear again.

That’s right, Xu Cheng’an was always alive in the dream, so how could she understand what Xu Cheng’an said to her.

He put his arms around her again, "Then let me hold you for a while longer."

Jiang Qixin looked into his eyes, which had dark pupils but looked gentle.

She stood on tiptoe and pecked Xu Cheng'an on the lips, then held his face and lowered it towards her, kissed his forehead, kissed his left cheek, and then pecked his right cheek.

"You look a little unhappy."

She rarely took the initiative to be intimate with him in dreams, and this seemed to be the first time she kissed him in a dream.

The worry on Xu Chengan's face disappeared in an instant, and he smiled happily at her kiss. "No, I'm very happy."

He smiled and lowered his head to kiss her lips. It wasn't a passionate kiss, but it wasn't as bland as the one she had just touched briefly.

Jiang Qixin subconsciously closed her eyes and climbed onto his shoulders with her hands. After two seconds, she slowly opened her eyes, but the world was spinning in front of her and the picture became blurry again.

At the moment when she was still conscious, Jiang Qixin was surprised to find that the Barbie doll in her hand was wearing a pink dress, Xu Chengan was wearing the couple shirt she had bought before, and the princess castle bought for Barbie doll was alternating between pink and sky blue.

The scene before my eyes seemed to change from black and white to color.
