Little Sweethearts 17
After Jiang Qixin recorded the data she had just made, she finally stopped the work in her hands. She raised her hand and stretched, letting out a sigh from her throat.
Xu Chengan raised his head and pushed the office chair in front of her. "You must be tired. Do you want to sit for a while?"
Jiang Qixin sat down and looked at the time. There were still more than ten minutes before the end of get off work, so she decided to rest here for a while.
She dragged her office chair to the window, and the chair's wheels made a light rolling sound on the floor.
Xu Cheng'an walked around behind her, and placed his palms, which were cold, on her shoulders through her cotton lab coat and her clothes. "Are you tired? Let me give you a massage."
"Okay." Jiang Qixin sat up straight, without looking back at Xu Chengan, his eyes fixed on the green belt outside the window.
His palms began to exert force slowly, and Jiang Qixin's shoulders, which were a little sore, felt a tingling sensation, which made her completely relax in an instant.
There was no shelter around the building, and cars whizzed by on the road not far away. It was a rare sunny day, and the shadows of the trees outside the window swayed in the cool autumn breeze.
A few beams of sunlight shone through the windowsill. Jiang Qixin looked at the small pebbles on the windowsill, which were completely covered by the sunlight. She asked with some doubt, "Does the sun make you feel uncomfortable?"
Ghosts in novels are afraid of the sun, and even TV dramas portray it this way.
Xu Chengan paused, squeezing her shoulder. "It's okay. It didn't affect me that much. Otherwise, how could I be with you every day?"
Even though he didn't answer directly, Jiang Qixin still understood what he meant. The sun did make him uncomfortable. She leaned on the back of her hand on the chair and turned to look at him.
In the sunlight, she could see Xu Cheng'an's eyes more clearly, and saw his pupils that looked different from those of ordinary people.
She suddenly remembered the fact that Xu Cheng'an was dead, and he had indeed been dead for a long time.
"Then let's sit back." Jiang Qixin stood up and pushed the chair back to the computer desk, away from the sunlight by the window.
"I'm fine." Xu Cheng'an added behind her. He did prefer dark places, but the sunlight didn't have much effect on him.
"Let me continue to help you." He pressed her shoulders and let her sit back down.
This wasn't the first time he had given her a massage.
When she was in middle school, she sat for longer periods of time than she does now at work, and she was either looking up or looking down all day long. Her spine and lumbar spine had long been unable to bear it. Fortunately, she was still young at the time and exercised every day, so she did not suffer from any illness.
However, after studying for a whole day, Jiang Qixin's neck would be sore.
Seeing her sitting at the desk with her head tilted back, and her other hand constantly kneading the back of her neck, Xu Cheng'an walked behind her wrapped in the heat of his fresh shower, gently grasped her wrist and pushed her hand away, replacing it with his larger palm behind her neck.
Through her thin summer pajamas, Jiang Qixin could clearly feel the warmth of Xu Cheng'an's palm. He was using the most appropriate strength to help her relieve the sore muscles.
Her body swayed gently back and forth as he massaged her, and the muscles on her shoulders continued to feel sore and painful. When his palms left her skin, the soreness turned into an inexplicable sense of comfort.
Jiang Qixin's body, which had been tired all day, finally relaxed. She rested her hands on the table and let Xu Cheng'an press his palms casually on her shoulders.
Just like now, Jiang Qixin felt his palm slowly moving upwards from the shoulder until it touched the back of the neck exposed to the air. He paused for a moment and then continued to massage.
Jiang Qixin couldn't help but let out a comfortable gasp from between his teeth.
"Are you comfortable? Is this strength okay?" Xu Cheng'an confirmed his massage technique with her again.
"Yeah." She responded, and just as she was about to continue speaking, the sound from outside the door interrupted her.
"Qi Xin, do you want to have lunch?" Song Jing originally wanted to go back to the office to find Jiang Qi Xin again, but she didn't expect to see Jiang Qi Xin still in her laboratory through the window on the way back to the office, so she simply greeted her directly.
Jiang Qixin raised his head, a look of helplessness flashed across his eyes for a moment, but it quickly disappeared.
Because she was thinking that it was a good thing that she was not talking to Xu Chengan just now, otherwise if Song Jing heard it, she didn't know whether she would think she was a weird person.
Jiang Qi checked her clothes and patted her shoulders, which were wrinkled from being rubbed. She stood up and said, "Go, wait for me for a while, I'll pack my things."
Xu Cheng'an had no choice but to let go of his hand on her shoulder and stood silently beside her.
He still sat aside and watched her eat as before, spending another ordinary but not boring day with her.
Jiang Qixin recently completely turned down her part-time job. When she returned home and saw the sunset outside the balcony, she remembered that she seemed to have not experienced a normal night life after get off work for a long time.
In the past, she lived a boring life. In order to keep herself busier so that she would not have time to think about sad things, she always lived her life very tightly. However, such a tight life was not fulfilling because she was simply wasting time instead of living her life.
There probably isn't much food left in the refrigerator at home, and Xu Cheng'an needs to buy some fresh vegetables.
The two went to the supermarket together to buy some raw materials for cooking. Jiang Qixin's kitchen was actually fully equipped. Sometimes even she herself didn't know that there were so many things in the kitchen cupboards. It's just that some ingredients had not been used for a long time and were about to expire.
Xu Cheng'an threw away all the expired ingredients in the kitchen and rearranged the kitchen.
"Do you need my help?" Jiang Qixin asked, leaning against the glass door of the kitchen.
Xu Chengan was putting his hands behind his back to tie his apron. He was about to refuse, but then he changed his tone and said, "Yes."
Jiang Qixin glanced at the kitchen counter and asked, "Do you want me to help wash or chop some vegetables?"
She approached the countertop and wanted to wash the vegetables in the basin, but Xu Chengan interrupted her, "Jiang Jiang, you don't need to do this."
"Then how can I help you?" She put down the vegetable leaves in her hand, her hands were wet, and water droplets slowly dripped from her fingertips.
As soon as she finished speaking, Xu Chengan's face enlarged in front of her. He bent down and moved his body and face closer to Jiang Qixin, pointing his fingertips at his cheek, "I want your kiss."
"How is this considered help?" Jiang Qixin was a little confused, but Xu Cheng'an in front of her pointed at his face with his fingertips and closed his eyes, as if waiting for her to kiss him.
She had no choice but to hold his shoulders, stand on tiptoe and place a warm but quick kiss on the side of his face.
Xu Chengan opened his eyes and kissed her again while she wasn't paying attention.
"With your kiss, I'll have more motivation to cook." He responded to Jiang Qixin's question just now.
"You've been working hard all day, go sit on the sofa. Isn't the show you're following updated at six o'clock?"
"Oh, it's time to update!" Jiang Qixin almost forgot about it. Then she was pushed by Xu Cheng'an towards the living room and sat down on the soft sofa.
The range hood in the kitchen started up, making a neither loud nor soft suction sound. Jiang Qixin hugged the pillow on the sofa and looked towards the kitchen again. Xu Cheng'an seemed to receive her gaze and smiled at her through the glass door.
Jiang Qixin fell on the sofa, feeling an indescribable joy in her heart, but this feeling was very vague, so vague that it seemed as if everything happened in a dream.
The range hood still couldn't block the aroma of the food. Jiang Qixin smelled the aroma of stir-fried beef with green peppers that Xu Cheng'an was making. She pressed pause on the projection screen, got off the sofa, and quickly ran to the kitchen.
"It smells so good!" She jumped behind Xu Cheng'an and poked her head out from behind his shoulder, watching the meat being stir-fried with the spatula in his hand. The aroma of the stir-fried food became even stronger. Jiang Qixin felt that her salivary glands seemed to be constantly secreting, urging her to eat dinner quickly.
"Do you want to try it?" Xu Cheng'an knew that the dish was already cooked, and he was just about to take it out of the pan.
"Yes." Jiang Qixin opened his mouth towards him.
He picked up a piece of beef from the pot with the chopsticks at hand, lowered his head and blew on it a few times, "It's a little hot, be careful."
Jiang Qixin subconsciously blew on it for a while, took the beef he handed over, chewed it, and gave him a thumbs up, "Delicious, delicious."
"If it's delicious, eat more tonight."
Xu Chengan squeezed her wrist, as if comparing it to the feeling of holding her arm before. He said with a distressed tone, "You've lost a lot of weight."
Jiang Qixin never thought that she would have the chance to eat the food cooked by Xu Chengan. When she thought that she would be able to eat it every day in the future, she couldn't help but eat half a bowl of rice more.
That vague feeling of joy became clearer with the help of her fullness, because Jiang Qixin knew that Xu Cheng'an was indeed by her side.
After eating and digesting the food for a while, Jiang Qixin packed her clothes and went to take a shower. When she came out of the bathroom, Xu Cheng'an had also changed his clothes and was wearing a set of pajamas that she had never seen before.
According to what Xu Chengan had told her before, the underworld was just as lively and bustling as the human world, with everything one could imagine. Therefore, he also had many things she had never seen before.
The drama Jiang Qixin was following had extra episodes tonight, so she hadn't had time to finish watching the latest episodes while Xu Cheng'an was cooking. She walked back to the sofa and pressed the play button on the projection screen.
Then I concentrated on watching the TV series.
There was a certain distance between the two people when they first sat, but this distance disappeared unnoticed.
Jiang Qixin herself didn't know when Xu Cheng'an got close to her. His hand reached through the gap between her back and the sofa and hugged her, with his palm resting on her belly.
Jiang Qixin's hands were playing with his fingertips out of boredom, and her fingertips occasionally felt the blue veins on his hands.
"Jiang Jiang, I want to ask you a question."
Jiang Qixin's eyes were still fixed on the projection screen. "Well, what's the problem?"
"Do you think I'm annoying?" Xu Cheng'an moved his body closer to her, then rested his head on her shoulder.
Because of the height difference, his movements looked a bit awkward.
His tone sounded very calm, but Jiang Qixin heard something unusual in it.
"How could that be?" Jiang Qixin only then turned her gaze to him. She was very puzzled as to why he would ask such a question.
Xu Chengan sighed, "But I see you every day, I can only talk and chat with you, and you can't let others know of my existence. Jiang Jiang, don't you really feel bored living like this?"
When he was alive, the two of them were almost always together whenever they lived together.
But at that time, he was not completely around Jiang Qixin. He also had his own study and work tasks, his own friends and his own life. It was not like now, completely around her.
Jiang Qixin lowered her eyelashes, as if she was thinking seriously. She didn't find such days boring.
Because her life before she knew about the existence of Xu Chengan's soul was even more boring than it is now. She had to prepare breakfast alone, drive to the company, go to work mechanically, run between part-time jobs, and go home to wash and sleep.
Her life has been repeating the same old routine for the past few years.
Many people's lives are boring to begin with, with sleeping, eating, and working being the most important things in their lives. However, Jiang Qixin felt that there was nothing wrong with such a boring life; she liked it.
"You really don't find me annoying?"
"You never found me annoying when we were little, so why would I find you annoying now?" Jiang Qixin touched Xu Cheng'an's soft earlobe.
He was three years older than her, which wasn't a big difference, but for a child, three years made a huge difference. When he was in elementary school, she was still in kindergarten. When he was in college, she was still in middle school.
Such a gap would make the two of them very different. But Xu Chengan had been very close to her since childhood and treated her as a family member sincerely.
Jiang Qixin lifted his head and threw herself into his arms. Although she still could not feel the warmth from his body, his most familiar smell was still there.
She rubbed her head against his shoulder and chest. "This kind of life is what we both want."
So she won't feel bored, nor will she dream of a more impossible life.
The dead cannot be resurrected, so being able to reconnect with Xu Cheng'an's soul is already a miracle for her, something she had never even dreamed of.
So she would no longer think about impossible things, such as Xu Cheng'an being able to turn back into a living person.
Xu Cheng'an picked her up, lowered his head to find her rosy lips and kissed her lightly. When he raised his head to end this precious kiss, Jiang Qixin raised her hands to hold his neck and kissed him again.
She rarely took the initiative to start a passionate and intimate kiss. Xu Cheng'an's neck was already stained with her body temperature. He leaned sideways and hugged her tightly.
Xu Cheng'an accepted her actions to the fullest, and his eyelashes seemed to be stained with moisture.
This kiss should have lasted a little longer, but it was interrupted by the ringing of a ringtone not far away.
"Phone, it seems like someone is calling me." Jiang Qixin said while panting lightly, pushing Xu Cheng'an's shoulder.
Jiang Qixin's cell phone was out of battery and was charging in the room. A faint ringing sound could be heard in the living room.
Xu Cheng'an was actually more sensitive to sounds than her. He also heard the ringing sound. He had to reluctantly let go of Jiang Qixin's hand and slowly sat up.
Jiang Qixin straightened his wrinkled clothes, his breath still a little messy, and ran back to the room in his slippers to pick up his cell phone.
Seeing that it was Xu Chengan's parents calling, Jiang Qixin remembered that they had gone on a trip a while ago and only returned home the day before yesterday.
She quickly answered the call, "Hello, Auntie, have you had dinner?"
"I've eaten." The voice on the other end paused for a moment, and seemed to ask hesitantly, "Sister, will you come back next week?" Ye Manyun asked tentatively in a light tone.
They knew that Xu Cheng'an's death was a big blow to Jiang Qixin, even though she always looked strong. The calmer she was, the more worried they became.
Jiang Qixin was only in her twenties when she experienced the unexpected deaths of three relatives. So even though the two elders were clearly heartbroken, they never mentioned Xu Chengan, their biological son, in front of Jiang Qixin, and rarely even mentioned the word "death."
But next week is Xu Cheng'an's death anniversary, and according to past practice, Jiang Qixin will go home.
Jiang Qixin looked up at Xu Chengan, who was washing grapes and stuffing a round, peeled grape into her mouth.
Jiang Qixin felt as if her teeth had accidentally scraped against Xu Cheng'an's fingertips.
"Okay, I'll go home." Jiang Qixin replied after swallowing the grapes.
She had been very happy recently, but she inexplicably felt a little depressed in the past two days. It turned out that it was because Xu Chengan's death anniversary was approaching.
Although she knew that Xu Cheng'an's soul was still by her side, Jiang Qixin still felt a little uncomfortable. This seemed to be a reaction engraved in her DNA. During this time every year, her heart would unconsciously feel a little depressed.
She thought that she might still not be able to forget the way Xu Cheng'an died in front of her.
Xu Chengan peeled another grape for her to divert her attention, "It's a good opportunity for us to go back and see our parents together."
"Yeah." Jiang Qixin smiled again.
-
Jiang Qixin was only staying for two days this time, so there were only two or three sets of clothes in her suitcase. Xu Cheng'an had already packed her skin care products and other things.
Xiaobai is a very quiet kitten among cats, but he is not very dull either. He will not feel uncomfortable if you take him out to play, so Jiang Qixin brought Xiaobai home this time.
When Jiang Qixin returned to the Xu family's door, he heard the sound of spatulas colliding in the kitchen.
Jiang Qixin opened the door of Xu's house familiarly. Ye Manyun didn't expect her to come home so soon. When she heard the sound of the suitcase wheels rolling over the ground, she walked to the door.
"Sister, you're home so soon."
"Well, I was lucky today. There was no traffic jam along the way, so I got back quickly." Jiang Qixin put down the luggage and then the cat bag. "I have a kitten and I brought it back with me."
Ye Manyun lowered her head and looked at the kitten through the transparent layer of the cat bag. "Why do you suddenly want to raise a kitten?"
She was also a little worried that Jiang Qixin couldn't take care of herself, let alone have the energy to take care of the kitten.
"It looks very similar to Xiaobai, and it's also very quiet and obedient." Jiang Qixin squatted aside and let the kitten out.
It wasn't very alert and just took a quick glance before running out.
Xu Kaicheng, who was cooking in the kitchen, also heard Jiang Qixin's voice and walked out of the kitchen. The kitten smelled the fragrance of the pot and spoon in Xu Kaicheng's hand, and ran to Xu Kaicheng's feet happily, with its head leaning towards his legs.
When Xiaobai was little, Xu Kaicheng was the one who fed him the most. He looked at the kitten at his feet in a daze, and through the glasses on his nose, he quickly caught a small black spot on the kitten's ear.
Xu Kaicheng looked up and exchanged a subtle glance with Ye Manyun.
"Isn't it really similar? And it also thinks its name is Xiaobai." Jiang Qixin raised an eyebrow at Xu's father and mother. The two elders were both scholars. Jiang Qixin would definitely not take the initiative to point out that the kitten in front of him was the deceased Xiaobai. They would definitely not believe it.
But what they think now is their own business.
"Let me pack my luggage first." Jiang Qixin picked up the suitcase and walked into her bedroom.
The Xu family has always had a room that belongs only to Jiang Qixin, and her room still maintains the original layout without any change.
Knowing that she was coming back, Ye Manyun cleaned the room in advance and even washed the quilts and sheets.
Ye Manyun saw her carrying the suitcase and hurriedly wanted to take it from her.
"Auntie, I can clean it up myself, you go ahead and do your thing."
She knew that Jiang Qixin liked to be alone, so she didn't say anything. She nodded and went back to the living room to wash some fruit.
There was nothing much to pack with just two sets of clothes, so Jiang Qixin sat on her bed and played with an old doll that she hadn't seen for a long time for a while.
"This doll is still at home." Xu Cheng'an remembered that they had caught it from the claw machine.
"Yes, there are still many things in the house that haven't been thrown away. Your room is probably the same as before." Jiang Qixin sat up, "Do you want to go take a look in your room?"
During the years in the human world, he actually visited his parents secretly, but because he couldn't be too far away from Jiang Qixin, he only returned to her after seeing that his parents were safe. He never returned to his room.
"Okay." He said gently.
Jiang Qixin walked into Xu Cheng'an's room. His room had also been tidied. It was probably because Aunt Ye tidied it up while helping her clean her room.
There was a photo of the two of them on the desk in his room, which was taken at her coming-of-age ceremony.
In the photo, Jiang Qixin's face still had a hint of childishness, and her face was rounder than it is now. Xu Cheng'an stood in front of the photo, staring at it in a daze for a while.
Xu Cheng'an hadn't returned to his home for a long time, and the familiar feeling made him feel a little complicated.
Jiang Qixin lowered his head, opened the drawer, took a look, and then walked to his other cabinet. "I remember there seemed to be a lot of our photos in here."
She tried to open the drawer, but found it was locked.
"Why is it locked?" There have never been any secrets between her and Xu Cheng'an. Passwords are useless to them, so she has the impression that the cabinet has never been locked.
Since they both went to college, they had been home less often, and their room had remained in the same layout as it was in high school. But after Xu Cheng'an passed away, his room was redecorated.
Now even he felt a little strange looking at his own room, yet there was a hint of familiarity in the strangeness.
Xu Cheng'an glanced down. Although the cabinet was rarely locked, he still remembered the combination. "The combination should be your birthday."
She entered the password and the lock in front of her made a crisp sound.
Jiang Qixin looked back at Xu Cheng'an, then turned back and opened the drawer. There were several photo albums inside, but her eyes were caught by a velvet box.
She lowered her head and looked at the box, wondering how there could be such an object in Xu Cheng'an's room. But in her impression, she didn't seem to have a box of this style.
Xu Cheng'an's eyes froze as he stood behind her. When he wanted to stop Jiang Qixin from taking out the box, it was too late.
Jiang Qixin had subconsciously opened the box, and inside the box was a diamond ring safely placed.
The sun was at its hottest at two or three in the afternoon. The curtains on the windows of the room were not closed, and the light shining through the glass windows reflected on the not-so-small diamond ring on her hand, emitting dazzling beams of light.
Jiang Qixin looked back at Xu Chengan again. Although she also liked beautiful toys since she was a child, Jiang Qixin never had the habit of wearing jewelry. Most of the time, she bought it on a whim but never wore it.
As for jewelry like rings, which were extremely inconvenient for her work, she had never bought one before. So she knew very well that the diamond ring in front of her was not hers.
But why is there such a thing in Xu Chengan’s room?
Xu Chengan walked behind her and quickly took the box from her hand, "This, this is..."
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound at the door interrupted him, and the velvet ring box in his hand fell out of his hand, rolled on the ground several times, and rolled to Jiang Qixin's feet.
Ye Manyun walked to the door of the room and leaned against it, "Sister, it's time to have dinner. I've made all your favorite dishes tonight."
Her body suddenly stiffened, and the scene in her eyes was that Jiang Qixin accidentally dropped the ring box from her hands and rolled to her feet.
"Sister, you found it." She said hesitantly, and her hand holding the door handle trembled uncontrollably.
"What did you find?" Jiang Qixin picked up the box, stood up, and stomped his feet which were numb from squatting for so long.
Xu Cheng'an looked at the unusual expression on his mother's face and slowly walked behind Jiang Qixin.
He put his arm around her dazed shoulders, leaned over to her ear and whispered softly, "Jiang Jiang, this is the engagement ring I prepared for you."
Jiang Qixin tightly grasped the box in his hand, and his fingertips turned white.
On the dining table, there was a table of steaming hot food, which was delicious and fragrant.
Jiang Qixin sat at the dinner table and watched Ye Manyun and Xu Kaicheng looking at each other in confusion. There was also a European-style pink velvet box on the table, which looked out of place with the home-cooked meals.
Ye Manyun cleared her throat, her tone a little uncomfortable.
"Sister, it's just a ring, just a ring. You, you don't have to think too much about it."
Jiang Qixin put her hands on the table. She lowered her head and glanced at the box. The box was well preserved and the velvet on it was shiny and new.
But this box has probably been at home for nearly five years.
She nodded gently, then smiled. "I know this is the engagement ring he prepared. You don't have to worry that I'll feel sad because of this reminder of Xu Chengan."
Jiang Qixin knew that Xu Cheng'an's parents were always afraid that his death would make her unhappy. She lowered her head and looked at the ring box and blinked hard.
"It's all over," she said, putting her hands back under the table.
In the eyes of others, she looked like she had her hand on her thigh, but only she and Xu Cheng'an knew that she was secretly playing with her little finger on the palm of his hand.
"It's the past, yes, it's all over." Ye Manyun murmured.
"Then I'll put this away and put it back in the cabinet it came from. You haven't had lunch yet after all this rush back, you must be starving. Let's eat first."
"Yes, let's eat first." Xu Kaicheng took the bowl and scooped her a bowl of hot soup.
Without giving Jiang Qixin a chance to refuse, Ye Manyun put the ring box back into the cabinet. She leaned against the door and breathed a sigh of relief.
She looked up at the ceiling and thought, yes, everything is over. But why did she feel a little sad? It seemed that the last person who would be sad about Xu Chengan's death would no longer be sad.
Ye Manyun calmed down and walked back to the dining table. She picked up some food for Jiang Qixin and chatted with her about family matters.
The day after tomorrow is Xu Cheng'an's death anniversary. According to local customs, blood relatives usually go to pay their respects on the anniversary of his death. Even though Jiang Qixin is not Xu Cheng'an's blood relative, their relationship is much closer than that of some blood relatives.
So every year on the anniversary of his death, she would come back to pay tribute with Xu Cheng'an's parents.
Time passed quickly. In the evening, Jiang Qixin took a shower and washed up early. "Uncle and aunt, I'm going back to my room to rest first." She said to the two elders who were still sitting in the living room watching TV series.
Xiaobai had already become familiar with both of them and was now nestled in Ye Manyun's arms.
Ye Manyun held the kitten in her arms and glanced at the clock in the living room. "Are you going back to your room to sleep so early?"
Jiang Qixin laughed, "Yeah, I'm a little sleepy."
She waved her hand and ran back to her room quickly in her slippers. She fell on the soft bed, her body pressing against her soft quilt.
Jiang Qixin raised her hands and silently mouthed to Xu Chengan, "Hug me now."
It was not difficult for her to pretend that Xu Chengan did not exist in front of others, but she was now acting in front of Xu Chengan's biological parents, which was really cruel to her.
Especially Xu Chengan, this guy is not honest. He wants to stick close to her outside the living room, and he is completely different from the steady brother he used to be.
Xu Chengan smiled, bent down, put his hands through her arms, and lifted her up.
"Are you tired from all the traveling today?"
Jiang Qixin rested her chin on his shoulder and shook her head. She smiled and said, "It's only less than an hour's drive. What's so tiring about it?"
Xu Cheng'an picked her up and weighed her body.
Jiang Qixin seemed to really like the pleasure of being thrown up and then falling back to her original position. When she was little, her father seemed to like holding her and playing with her like this, but after she grew up, no one could play with her like this anymore.
Even the movement Xu Chengan made while holding her was very small. She clamped her legs tightly around Xu Chengan's hips and said, "Toss it again."
Xu Cheng'an was receptive to advice and did as Jiang Qixin said.
"I want to spin in circles," she added.
Xu Cheng'an held her and walked around the room a few times.
"I feel dizzy. It's so dizzy." Jiang Qixin patted his shoulder and signaled him to end this action.
Xu Cheng'an stopped spinning and laid Jiang Qixin down on her bed.
Her back rested on the soft bed again, which was filled with a familiar fragrance that reminded her of the summer nights during the summer vacation. Jiang Qixin, who was sitting at the desk doing her summer homework, became sleepy and her sitting posture became crooked.
Xu Cheng'an sat upright, propped up his head and looked at her helplessly.
He glanced down at her homework. The handwriting had become crooked because of her sleepiness, like a bunch of slender little bugs scratching on her homework book. "If you're sleepy, go to bed first."
Jiang Qixin shook herself and tried to cheer herself up, "No, I only have one question left to finish." She patted her face and said, "I'll do it on the bed." Then she went to sleep after finishing it.
As she thought about it, she walked back to her bed with her pen and exercise book, put the exercise book on her legs, grabbed the pen and continued writing.
Jiang Qixin was wrapped in a soft bed, surrounded by her own scent and the fresh fragrance of laundry detergent at home. In the end, she did not finish writing the question, but fell asleep on the bed with the pen in her hand.
In the end, it was Xu Cheng'an who helped her pick up the paper and pen and put them away. He then held her and adjusted her to the correct sleeping position and covered her with a blanket.
Xu Chengan also lay beside her, "Mom and Dad look pretty healthy."
"Well, they have physical examinations every year, and everything is normal. Now that they are retired, they have a leisurely life, traveling everywhere, and their mood is much better." Jiang Qixin spoke in a low voice, afraid that the two elders outside the living room might hear.
"Everyone is fine, that's good." Xu Cheng'an said, feeling comforted. Fortunately, Jiang Qixin still lived with her parents.
Jiang Qixin clapped her hands on his palms and yawned towards the ceiling. "It seems a bit cold tonight, and it looks like the temperature will drop tomorrow."
Fortunately, she checked the weather forecast in advance and prepared enough clothes for her to cope with the drop in temperature.
"I'm sleepy, cover yourself with the quilt and go to sleep."
Jiang Qixin turned her head to look at Xu Cheng'an. His pupils were very dark, as deep as an endless bottomless pit. She suddenly sat up with her hands on the bed, then straddled his waist.
"Jiang, Jiang Jiang, what are you going to do?"
Jiang Qixin lifted the collar of Xu Chengan's pajamas, lowered her head and took a deep breath. It was still the most familiar scent to her. "Don't you like me kissing you like this?"
Xu Chengan slowly placed his hands on her waist, "Yeah, yes, I like you kissing me like this."
Jiang Qixin smiled, lowered her head and continued to kiss him. Gradually, Xu Cheng'an's shoulders seemed to be covered with her kisses.
Her hands happened to be resting on Xu Cheng'an's chest. There was no heartbeat from the left side of his chest, and she suddenly felt a little lost.
But the feeling of his chest muscles was still exactly the same as before, and Jiang Qixin concealed the sudden sense of loss again.
At least Xu Chengan is still in front of her now.
Even if it only appears in the form of a soul.
Xu Cheng'an tilted his head to expose his most vulnerable neck in front of her, allowing her to move as he enjoyed the feeling Jiang Qixin brought him.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together, Xu Cheng'an could clearly feel the temperature of her body, her breathing gradually became hot, and he could smell a faint fragrance on her body.
"I'm tired of kissing." She said as she rolled off Xu Cheng'an, picked up her phone and lay back on the bed.
Xu Cheng'an turned his head to look at her, and he didn't expect that this man really just wanted to kiss her.
Jiang Qixin took in big gulps of fresh air, and for a moment he couldn't control himself and kissed her a little too hard, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Xu Chengan looked at her expression that seemed to be pleased with her flirting with him, and smiled helplessly. He picked up the quilt and covered her with it. "You just said you were cold. Cover yourself with the quilt, don't catch a cold."
His eyes swept over her face, and he lowered his head to place a kiss on her unusually rosy lips, "Goodnight kiss."
Then Xu Cheng'an lay down beside her as usual.
The room was once again quiet, with the white noise of the air echoing in his ears. Xu Cheng'an soon realized that Jiang Qixin seemed to have fallen asleep. He propped himself up and took a look, and she was indeed asleep.
Jiang Qixin originally wanted to go back to her room early to be alone with Xu Chengan so that she wouldn't have to hide in front of her uncle and aunt, but she didn't expect that she would fall asleep while lying on the bed.
Xu Cheng'an glanced at the time on his phone. It was only a little after nine o'clock.
Listening to her calm and rhythmic breathing, Xu Cheng'an gently took the phone from her hand and placed it safely on the bedside table.
He picked up the quilt and covered her shoulders that were exposed to the air, wrapping her entire body except her head.
Then he turned off the lights in the room. After he finished all this, he lay down beside Jiang Qixin. There was only a quilt on her bed, so he had to hug her through the quilt covering her.
"Good night." Xu Cheng'an, as usual, silently said good night to Jiang Qixin before falling asleep.
The night passed quietly, and Jiang Qixin's nostrils were filled with the gentle scent of laundry detergent at home. She quickly fell asleep with this smell, as if she had not slept so soundly for a long time, so sound that she didn't even know when she fell asleep.
Just because she slept too soundly, but her brain was still in a state of thinking and working, she quickly created another dream world.
-
Xu Cheng'an felt as if half of his soul had been sucked out of him, and waves of dizziness made his head ache. When he opened his eyes again, the lake surface in front of him became clear, but what was unusual was that everything in front of him, including the people, was now black and white.
This seemed to be Jiang Qixin's dream world, but in her dream, the pictures he had seen before were all in color, but this time the pictures in the dream turned into black and white.
He stood there hesitantly for a moment. When he saw that the building in front of him was somewhat similar to where Jiang Qixin lived, Xu Cheng'an was sure that this was her dream.
But why is he alone in this dream world? Where did Jiang Qixin go?
Xu Cheng'an recognized that this was a suspended station not far from Jiang Qixin's home. It was the morning rush hour and the entrance of the station was crowded with people coming and going. Everyone's facial features were not very clear, and Xu Cheng'an could only directly feel the resentment on the faces of every office worker.
Every experience of entering a dream in the past taught Xu Cheng'an that he could usually find Jiang Qixin in the dream very quickly, so he just stood there waiting for her.
But he waited for a long, long time but Jiang Qixin never showed up.
Xu Cheng'an looked at the scene of people coming and going in front of him with some hesitation. He was sure that this was Jiang Qixin's dream, but why was there no herself in her dream?
He looked into the distance and walked straight back to Jiang Qixin's rental house.
The hazy picture in front of him became more concrete and clearer. Xu Cheng'an walked into her room and soon felt Jiang Qixin's presence.
She was sleeping peacefully in her bedroom.
Xu Cheng'an walked to her bedside and looked down to find that her eyelids covering her eyeballs seemed to be trembling. He frowned and squatted down to her bedside with some confusion. His fingertips with distinct joints touched the top of her eyelids, very lightly, as if gently stroking her skin with a feather.
Am I too tired recently? Why am I sleeping in my dreams?
Xu Cheng'an thought about it and smiled gently. His fingertips moved from above her eyelids and slowly moved across her facial features, from the tip of her round yet straight nose to her soft lips.
Suddenly, a harsh ringing sound came from his ears, which scared Xu Cheng'an.
Jiang Qixin was even woken up directly by the alarm clock. Her bright eyes suddenly opened, and what she saw was the white ceiling. She sat up reflexively.
Xu Cheng'an paused for a while while stroking her lips. He looked at Jiang Qixin in surprise. She seemed not to see him, and her body even passed through his limbs.
Just like when he first returned to the world, she could not see him, hear him, or even feel his presence.
