Master 01
Song Jing took off the disposable nitrile gloves on her hands. The palms of her hands were soaked with sweat from the sealed gloves. She then took off her lab coat and hung it up.
She stared at her hands with a hint of disdain, then turned around, washed them, and wiped them clean with a few more tissues. When she returned to the office, the two colleagues next to her were not at their desks.
Song Jing didn't think much about it. She turned on the computer that had been sleeping for an afternoon and processed the freshly released data.
Processing the data wasn't difficult, especially since Song Jing had already mastered it. Within minutes, she finished the task. She sat down in her office chair and stretched hard, twisting her neck as she heard a few crisp sounds.
She took off the heavy glasses on her nose and turned her head to look out the floor-to-ceiling window on her right.
It was a sunny day in early summer, and a little sunlight came in through the windows that were not completely closed.
Their company's office building is located in the center of the city, but the greenery around the office building is very good. There is a very tall crooked tree right in front of the floor-to-ceiling window facing her.
The sun was strong and the wind was strong. The leaves on the crooked tree were blown to and fro, and a few leaves fell from the air.
Song Jing glanced at the time on the computer and saw that there was still half an hour before get off work ended.
However, for someone like her who is either watching reactions in the laboratory or running data in the instrument room and then returning to the office to process and analyze the data, today's work is completely over.
Song Jing stared out the window for a long time and ate a chocolate bar. The two colleagues next to her workstation also returned to the office.
"Have you been teasing the company's cat again?" Song Jing didn't see clearly, but she saw that there were a lot of cat hair on Jiang Qixin's black pants.
Jiang Qixin nodded and then shook her head, "It's not the one that the boss raised. It seems to be a new stray cat." She bent down and cleaned all the cat hair on her pants with tape, then clapped her hands.
"Oh." Song Jing is actually not particularly interested in cats and dogs, but she does like them, and especially likes watching cute pet videos online.
She even had a Maine Coon kitten in the past, but unfortunately the cat got lost and she never had another small animal after that.
Oh, except for the mosquitoes at home.
As Song Jing was thinking this, a mosquito flew past her eyes. She reached out and slapped it with a crisp sound. Based on her years of experience in killing mosquitoes, she successfully killed a mosquito in one go.
After so many centuries, mosquitoes and cockroaches have not disappeared from the world.
"So you all went to pet cats just now?" Song Jing took out a wet wipe and wiped off the mosquito corpse and blood on her hands.
Jiang Qixin nodded. "Yes, it's very cute, and it seems to be very clean. I wonder if it was abandoned or lost."
As soon as he finished speaking, the boss's free-range cat walked towards Song Jing and Jiang Qixin, and then jumped onto Song Jing's desk wantonly.
"This cat loves you so much. You see it coming to you every day." Jiang Qixin said as he walked to her desk and stroked the cat's head.
"Maybe it's just because I fed it." Song Jing said slowly.
"It's obvious that you're the one who likes animals. The cats around the office are all super attached to you. When I went to a dog cafe with you before, all the dogs insisted on sticking to you."
Jiang Qixin bent down and stared at Song Jing for a few seconds. "If you weren't really a human, I would have suspected that you were some kind of animal."
Song Jing smiled and touched the tip of her nose with one hand, and scratched the chin of the kitten on the table with the other hand.
The boss has a ragdoll cat with a very long and hairy tail. It lies on Song Jing's desk, leisurely sweeping the air with its tail, and purrs with pleasure at the way Jiang Qixin strokes the cat.
"Oh, by the way, Sister Jingjing, have you heard that our small branch is going to have a new technical director?"
Song Jing looked up and met her gaze. "I've heard of him, but I have no idea what kind of person he is." She picked up her glasses from the table and put them back on. "I only know he was transferred from headquarters."
The main industry under the name of boss Song Jing is bionic robotic organisms, involving everything from the most primitive chips and technologies to one-stop assembly.
The branch where Song Jing works mainly studies biological behavior and batteries implanted in new energy machines.
It is a very small part of the boss's business. It is just because the boss started learning management here when he first got involved in the family business, so the boss often comes here.
Even her free-range Ragdoll cat has been living in this branch, and their company has specially hired a pet trainer to take care of everything related to the Ragdoll cat.
"It seems like he'll be starting work in the next few days. I don't know if he's a mean person or not."
The previous director of the technical department was a very kind old man. He was old and was about to retire, so a new leader came in.
Song Jing also shook her head. "I don't know. They should all be easy to get along with."
The two chatted intermittently, played for a while, and finally waited until it was time to get off work. Jiang Qixin packed her bag early and slung it over her shoulder, ready to go.
"Are you in such a hurry to get off work? Do you have any new part-time jobs?" Song Jing looked at Jiang Qixin who was frantically packing her things. Jiang Qixin nodded at her and said, "I have a part-time job tonight that pays 100 yuan an hour. I'm making a lot of money. I won't say anything more to you now. Bye!"
Song Jing said to her: "Okay, see you tomorrow."
But before she could finish her words, Jiang Qixin's figure had disappeared without a trace.
Jiang Qixin is a graduate who started working here last year. Employees in their department rarely need to socialize and the work content is very boring and dull, so most people in this position are relatively introverted.
She and Jiang Qixin are typical people who don't like socializing. They only talk a lot when they are with people they know.
But before Song Jing became very familiar with Jiang Qixin, she already knew that Jiang Qixin had other part-time jobs every night.
Their salary in this line of work is not enough to make them rich, but it is enough to support a fulfilling life in this big city.
It's just that Jiang Qixin loves saving money so much, she's a bit crazy about it, even continuing to work after work. Just working for six hours is enough to make Song Jing exhausted, she really doesn't have the energy like Jiang Qixin.
Song Jing smiled and shook her head, stood up and helped Jiang Qixin put away the paper documents on the table, then began to slowly pack her things and prepare to go home.
She bent down and took out a can of cat food from the drawer of her office and put it in her hand. She put on her bag and made sure the computer was turned off before leaving her office.
"Successfully clocked in. Thank you for your hard work. See you tomorrow."
"Goodbye." Song Jing replied to the robot security guard on the first floor of the office building and nodded to him.
Today's sunset was golden with a hint of pink. The cold evening wind blew past. Song Jing folded the loose hair on her forehead over her ears and stopped under a banyan tree outside the office building.
"Mimi? Mimi?" She called softly a few times, and soon a white stray cat ran out, stood at Song Jing's feet and rubbed her trouser legs.
This is an old stray cat near the company. It has lived here for a long time. A colleague nearby bought it a cat bed and a cat bowl. Although it is a stray cat, it lives a very comfortable life. Someone comes to feed it every day.
Song Jing took a few steps back and squatted beside the banyan tree. She glanced at the food bowl that her colleague had bought for the cat and saw that it was still clean. She thought that Mimi probably hadn't eaten recently.
She took out the can of cat food from her bag and prepared dinner for it.
The kitten noticed her movements and leaned its head against the back of her hand, rubbing its little head against the joints of her hand, as if begging her to pet it quickly.
She put down the opened cat food can, followed the kitten's movements and patted its head, "Eat quickly, I'm hungry too, I want to go home and eat."
After Song Jing touched her a few times, she stood up, clapped her hands and prepared to leave.
After squatting for a long time, Song Jing felt a little dizzy when she stood up and took a step back. She closed her eyes and shook her head to try to relieve the dizziness. When she opened her eyes again, she found that the kitten had not eaten a single bite of the food. Instead, it raised its head and stared at her, then followed her for a step.
She stretched out a hand in panic, "Don't follow me! Aren't you hungry? Or is this brand of canned cat food not tasty?"
Song Jing silently took a few steps back. Jiang Qixin was right. She was very popular with small animals, whether they were cats, dogs or birds.
The fact that stray animals liked her was already puzzling enough for her, but every time stray animals saw her, they liked to follow her. Why was that?
The kittens living near their office building are doing well, and there is a special organization that sterilizes stray cats.
It’s not that Song Jing is unwilling to adopt stray animals, but she doesn’t dare to keep pets anymore. Ever since she saw her grown cat get lost and couldn’t find it after searching for several years, she has been left with a psychological trauma in her heart and will never dare to keep a pet again in her life.
She was too afraid to encounter such a separation situation again.
Song Jing frowned and stared at the kitten following her, then took a few steps back helplessly.
She didn't have eyes behind her, and she took two steps back when she suddenly bumped into someone. "Sorry, sorry." Song Jing subconsciously apologized.
"It's okay." The other person held her arm, and quickly let go when he saw that she had stood firm.
Song Jing glanced at his arm covered with the long sleeves of a black suit. She subconsciously raised her head and looked at him. When she saw his eyes clearly, Song Jing was stunned.
The man nodded and continued on his way.
Song Jing looked at the man's back and thought that it was rare to see someone with such pure amber eyes. It was the first time she had seen a Chinese person with such eye color.
They were just strangers, so Song Jing didn't think much about it. When she turned around to look at the cat bowl, the kitten had already stopped, with its ears lowered and its tail a little puffed up, as if it was breathing towards the man.
"Mimi, what's wrong?" Song Jing frowned and looked at the kitten. The kitten meowed several times and then turned and ran away quickly, disappearing without a trace before Song Jing could react.
Song Jing turned her head to look at the man who had not yet left. The man happened to turn around as well, and it was unclear whether he was looking at her.
But Song Jing could see his light pupils reflected in the sunlight. The color of his eyes was actually very unique and beautiful, but when paired with Chinese facial features, it looked weird.
She looked away from the man and shook her head secretly. It was not her style to judge other people's appearance casually.
Song Jing put away her strange thoughts, bent down and put the can aside, thinking that Mimi would come to eat on her own initiative when she was hungry.
Then she lowered her head, took out a wet wipe from her bag and wiped her hands. "Let's go home." She said to herself with a light tone.
The man stood not far away, looking at her back, and heard her voice clearly. He smiled silently.
