Master 20

Master 20

The two of them were still just hugging each other. He Mian rested his face on Song Jing's hand until the temperature of her slightly cool palm was almost as high as his body temperature. He then slowly raised his head and said, "I have something to show you."

He lowered his head and looked at Song Jing, his expression unusually serious.

Song Jing was stunned for a moment, and almost thought that He Mian wanted to show her work-related documents. She nodded and broke free from his arms.

"Wait a moment." He Mian went back to his home and brought back some paper items.

Song Jing frowned. He wouldn't really suddenly remember something about work in the middle of the night, would he?

"My household registration book, and the property certificate of this house. Oh, and some other things are in electronic version." He Mian took out his mobile phone while speaking.

"Wait a minute, He Mian, what are you doing?" Why did he suddenly take out the household registration book?

"I'll report some of my basic information to you." He Mian paused. "My parents are deceased, and I don't have any siblings. Besides owning a property in this neighborhood, I also have a permanent residence in District C, near the company headquarters. As for my romantic history, you were indeed my first love."

Song Jing was confused and interrupted him quickly, "Why are you talking about these things all of a sudden?"

"I know you're just trying it out, that you want to test the waters and start a relationship with me, but I'm serious about this, so I think you need to know this information."

Song Jing raised her eyebrows slightly and glanced at He Mian, then glanced at the paper documents on the coffee table. This was indeed the first time she knew about He Mian's family affairs, as the two of them didn't seem to talk about this topic much.

She touched the tip of her nose and asked, "Well, do you want to know any other information about me?" Song Jing felt that since He Mian had told her so much, she should explain things clearly as well.

But she couldn't think of anything else to say to He Mian for a moment. He knew that her parents lived in their hometown city and that she was an only child. She had never mentioned her parents' work before retirement.

He Mian shook his head. "No, I think I know you well enough. But you don't seem to trust me very much, so I'll tell you everything you want to know." He turned around and faced Song Jing. "Is there anything else you want to ask?"

"No more." Song Jing said slowly. For a moment she couldn't think of anything to ask.

"Then can I ask you a question?" He Mian put down his phone and said sincerely.

Song Jing nodded to him.

"sure."

"Can I call you Jingjing?"

"Just call me whatever you like." Song Jing wanted to laugh. Every reaction of He Mian was beyond her expectations.

"Jingjing." He called very softly, and then hugged her sideways, "I like the smell of you, too." He leaned on her shoulder and took a deep breath.

Song Jing felt a little itchy when his hair brushed against hers. "Okay, it's getting late. Go to bed early. You should rest more since you're still recovering from your injuries."

"Does it still hurt now?" She raised her hand and lightly poked the place where the gauze was. She asked him.

"A little bit, but I don't feel much if I don't touch it." According to He Mian's own recovery ability, it will actually take only a few days for the scab to completely heal. However, he wanted Song Jing to feel more sorry for him, so he played the victim to her occasionally.

"Yeah, I hope you get better soon." She muttered softly, "Just hold me for a while longer and then I'll go to sleep. I'm sleepy."

"Okay, then let me hold you for a while."

The two of them dated secretly for a week. Except for not meeting each other at work and going back to their separate homes at night, they seemed to stick together most of the time.

The wound on He Mian's hand had almost healed, and the gauze on his hand had been removed. Song Jing saw that he seemed to have applied some scar-lightening medicine, and the healed part of the wound on his hand did not look like it would leave a deep scar.

"Hiss, something's not right. This data doesn't seem to be right." Song Jing stared at the computer with a frown. One wrong data meant that she had to redo the whole set of experiments.

She picked up her cell phone and prepared to go to the laboratory right away. When she turned around, she saw Qianjin walking to her desk in a new princess dress. The little mouse toy in her mouth was a little worn, which formed a sharp contrast with her clothes.

It tilted its head and meowed twice at Song Jing.

"I'm busy right now. I need to go to the lab." The reagents needed to be prepared immediately, and the reaction time was half an hour. It was only half an hour before she was due to leave, and she had to work overtime tonight. So Song Jing wanted to get the reagents ready before the afternoon shift ended, so she could resume the experiment after dinner.

Qianjin followed Song Jing with a toy in her mouth. Song Jing had no choice but to squat down and touch her head. The kitten twisted its neck and put its head in Song Jing's palm. Song Jing touched it until it was satisfied, and then she took the toy in her mouth and went to find someone else to play with.

Song Jing couldn't help but smile as she watched the Ragdoll cat wag its long, white tail and walk in a cat-like manner. She suppressed her expression and turned cold as she prepared to go to the laboratory on the fifth floor. When she looked up, she saw He Mian standing at the corner of the corridor.

She pursed her lips as if she saw nothing and continued walking until she was close to He Mian. Then she pretended to be polite and said, "Mr. He."

He Mian looked at her with a somewhat depressed expression. He grabbed Song Jing's wrist in a corner where no one could see. "What do you want to eat tonight?" he asked in a low voice.

Song Jing glanced down at his hand and looked around. She checked the time and said, "You go back first. I forgot you said you had to work overtime tonight." She pulled her hand out of He Mian's and patted the back of his hand. "No need to wait for me."

"I'm working overtime tonight too. Don't we have dinner together?" He Mian asked.

"I have to go to the lab now, so I might be late. You eat first." Song Jing drew a small circle on the back of his hand with her fingertips. "I'm leaving now."

Her mind was now full of why there was a problem with that set of data, and she didn't notice He Mian's extremely aggrieved expression at all.

He Mian looked at Song Jing with a resentful look on his face as she walked into the elevator. She even waved at him in the elevator.

He turned and looked at the snow-white ragdoll cat, thinking: calm, with great love, Song Jing just touched it. She still loved the little rabbit the most. As long as no other cat could replace the little rabbit in Song Jing's heart, he would still be the final winner.

The moment the elevator door closed, Song Jing rolled her eyes and realized why He Mian looked so strange. She shook her head and thought that maybe he was too tired from work...

Although Song Jing explicitly forbade the two of them to show their private relationship in the company, He Mian seemed to have become bolder recently. For example, he would go to the laboratory on the fifth floor to "accidentally meet" Song Jing.

After a long busy day in the lab, Song Jing had just finished her meal. Some colleagues in the group who didn't have to work overtime had already gone home. However, the lights were still on in the lab on the fifth floor. Headquarters was working on a new series of confidential projects, and their branch office was also busy.

Song Jing had just finished sorting through the new data. She leaned over her desk in the lab, stretched, and yawned. She tapped the smartwatch on her wrist and checked the time.

After tidying up her desk and going back to the office to compare the new data graphs, she'd probably be done with work. Song Jing twisted her neck and rubbed her waist. She raised her hands and stretched her upper limbs. As she waved her hands in mid-air, they were suddenly grasped by a pair of warm hands.

She was stunned for a moment, her hand pausing in mid-air for a long moment. She sat there, looking back up, and saw that it was He Mian who had grabbed her hand. Song Jing did not pull her hand out of his grasp until she had finished stretching.

Song Jing often wondered if He Mian was born in the year of the cat, because she found that he seemed to walk silently. Even when he walked into the laboratory just now, Song Jing didn't hear any sound.

"Why are you here?" Song Jing glanced around and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that there was no one else around.

"See how you're doing at work. Are you hungry?" He Mian stood behind her and put his arms around Song Jing.

"A little bit. I didn't feel anything at first, but now I feel hungry after you said that." Song Jing raised her hand and slapped him on the arm, as if to blame him.

"I ordered takeout from the cake shop you often eat at, and I also heated up some milk. Would you like some?" He Mian held the hand that she had just hit him with, wrapped his hand around hers, and held it in his palm, squeezing it lightly a few times.

"Okay." Song Jing sent the data to his computer, stood up, turned off the doors and windows of the laboratory, and pushed He Mian out of the laboratory.

Apart from helping He Mian get the USB flash drive last time and one or two work matters, Song Jing rarely went to He Mian's office. He had an independent office, which was quite large and even had a special place for drinking tea and taking a break.

She hadn't really looked around his office the last time, so this time she took a closer look.

Song Jing smelled the scent of chocolate as soon as she reached the door. "Where's the food? I'm so hungry."

"Let me open it for you." He Mian had just received the takeaway, which was already on the table. He carefully opened the packaging of the small cake and tore open the packaging of the fork for Song Jing.

"Thank you." Song Jing took the fork from his hand with a smile and took a bite eagerly. "It's delicious. Do you want some?"

He Mian didn't have the habit of eating midnight snacks. He wanted to shake his head subconsciously, but he stopped himself abruptly.

He lowered his head and glanced at the chocolate cake she was holding, then opened his mouth and signaled Song Jing to feed him.

Song Jing generously forked out a piece of what she thought was the most delicious part and stuffed it into He Mian's mouth.

"There's more than just this little cake." He Mian pointed to the takeout bag to remind her, then he poured the hot milk into a cup and placed it on the table waiting for Song Jing to drink.

"I can't finish all the cakes and breads I bought." Song Jing looked down and realized that he seemed to have bought all the cakes and breads she ate most often. "I'm not a pig."

"Eat as much as you can. It won't expire tomorrow if you keep it in the refrigerator." He Mian smiled and raised his hand to gather her scattered bangs.

Because she was just in the laboratory and Song Jing's hair was quite long, she simply gathered all her hair up and tied it into a big bun. However, because her hair had been tied for too long, it became a little loose.

He Mian simply stood up and walked around behind her to help her untie her hair and wanted to tie it up again, but He Mian forgot that he didn't know how to tie hair. Because he was afraid of hurting her, his hands moved extremely carefully, and he worked for a minute in vain.

Song Jing held his hand and said, "Forget it, I'll tie it later."

"I'll learn it in a while. I can learn it quickly." He Mian held her hairband and watched two videos online, then lowered his head to fiddle with her long hair.

By the time he had tied Song Jing's hair into a fairly neat ponytail, Song Jing had already finished eating the cake and even drank half a cup of hot milk.

The air was silent for a few seconds. He Mian ran his fingers through her still warm hair and combed it. "Jingjing, do you like that ragdoll cat?"

"Ragdoll cat?" Song Jing was stunned for a moment before realizing he was referring to Qianjin. "Are you talking about the boss's kitten? I like her very much. She's very cute, with big, round blue eyes. Very beautiful."

"You touched it today but didn't touch me." He Mian walked back to the sofa and sat next to her, speaking in a deliberately angry tone.

"Touch, touch you?" Song Jing leaned on the sofa and turned to look at him. "Where should I touch you?" She said with a wicked smile, then reached out and touched the muscles of his upper arm.

"You touched its head."

"Then I'll touch your head too?" Song Jing thought to herself, "What a strange man He Mian is! Why would he make such a strange request?" But she still touched him gently.

But she was afraid of messing up his hair, so she touched it for just a second and then took her hand away.

It took Song Jing a while to react, "You wouldn't be jealous of a kitten, would you?" She looked at He Mian in surprise.

He Mian turned his head away awkwardly and hummed.

He Mian was too tall. Song Jing twisted her neck to look up at him, and it hurt. She stood up, leaning on the armrest of the sofa and looking down at him. "But the girl likes me very much. She won't be happy if I don't touch her every day. She took the initiative to come to me. How can I refuse a kitten?"

What she said was indeed the truth. As long as Qianjin was not sleeping and Song Jing was not in the laboratory, Qianjin would come to Song Jing every day with her favorite little mouse doll in her mouth.

"So what you mean is that other men deliberately act like a spoiled child and a green tea girl in front of you and you can't refuse them?" He Mian looked really sad.

It’s okay for her to touch the puppy, but I just don’t want to see her touch other cats.

"How can you compare a man to a kitten? They're not even the same species." Song Jing put her hands on his shoulders. "Even if you take a step back, the rich girl is just a female kitten. You're so jealous."

As she spoke, she squeezed his shoulders hard as if to massage them. "I'm not going to flirt with you any more. It's late now. Let's go home."

"Yeah." He Mian thought to himself that he was really easy to coax. Song Jing just chatted with him for a few words, and he felt very happy again without even putting in any effort to coax him.

He Mian was about to stand up when the bright lights in the office suddenly went out.

The two of them stood there in a daze, and the air suddenly became extremely quiet, so quiet that they could hear each other's breathing.

The refrigerator and air conditioner in the office stopped working, and Song Jing guessed that the company might have suddenly lost power.

"Is there a power outage?"

He Mian swallowed nervously, "It seems so."

His breathing became heavy. Although the office was large, it was also an enclosed space for him. The enclosed and dark night was similar to the feeling that day... cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.

Song Jing sensed his abnormality and suddenly remembered that He Mian had mentioned before that he had a fear of darkness. She reached out and held He Mian's hand, rubbing her thumb on the back of his hand where the veins were bulging. "I'm here."
