Master 27

Master 27

Song Jing's eyes were sore from looking at the computer, so she simply took off her glasses and squinted to continue staring at the data running out.

"Qi Xin, why do you look so sleepy?" Song Jing turned around and saw Jiang Qi Xin had just finished checking her mice in the laboratory and was returning to her workstation with a cup of hot coffee she bought downstairs.

Jiang Qixin yawned subconsciously when she heard Song Jing's words. "I've been having nightmares a lot lately."

She looked around and suddenly lowered her voice somewhat sinisterly, saying, "It wasn't really a horrible nightmare, but I kind of suspect my house is haunted."

Jiang Qixin took a sip of hot coffee as he spoke.

"Haunted?" Song Jing frowned, somewhat puzzled.

"Oh, I forgot. Sister Jingjing, you don't seem to believe in these things, but I have indeed encountered a lot of strange things recently." Jiang Qixin shook his head, trying to make himself more sober.

Song Jing was stunned for a moment. She remembered that Jiang Qixin had recently moved to a new rental house. The new residence had more convenient transportation and was not far from the company, but she heard that the rent was even cheaper than the one she lived in before.

Suddenly, Song Jing felt a chill on the back of her neck. She touched it and said, "No one can explain these things, but if you really encounter something strange, you'd better be careful."

"It's okay, I'm not afraid!" Jiang Qixin patted his chest and said righteously, "But Sister Jingjing, why haven't you slept well? Aren't these two days the weekend?"

Song Jing laughed dryly twice, "I was bitten by a cat at night." And it was bitten for two nights.

"Did you get bitten by a cat?" Jiang Qixin asked worriedly. "How did you get bitten by a cat? Have you gone to the hospital?"

Song Jing's words did have a secondary meaning, but Jiang Qixin naturally only understood the surface meaning. She could only quickly shake her head, "It's nothing serious. I just went to bed a little late and I'm really sleepy."

As she spoke, she blinked her sore eyes hard again, and silently told herself that she must go to bed early tonight.

Then I finished my morning work in a daze.

When it was time to eat, Song Jing also went to the company cafeteria with Jiang Qixin. However, while eating, Song Jing always felt that there was someone behind her. Sure enough, she saw He Mian at the back.

She lowered her head, looked at her phone, and sent an emoticon to He Mian.

He Mian also imitated her and sent an emoticon. Song Jing glanced back at him again and didn't speak to him anymore.

"Sister Jingjing, what are you looking at? Is the air conditioning here a little too loud? Do you want to sit in the back?" Jiang Qixin subconsciously looked up at the location of the air conditioning vents on the ceiling of the cafeteria.

Song Jing waved her hands guiltily, "It's okay, it's okay, let's continue eating."

After having their meal as usual, the two walked out of the cafeteria together. Jiang Qixin had to go to the laboratory building for something, so he and Song Jing split up, and Song Jing continued walking towards the office alone.

Just as she reached the corner of the corridor opposite the elevator door, He Mian suddenly came out from the corner quietly and grabbed her, like a kitten playing hide-and-seek.

"Mr. He, what are you doing?" Song Jing asked him with a businesslike expression, trying not to laugh.

"There's no one here." He Mian whispered, "Jingjing." He called her nickname softly again.

"Okay, do whatever you want to do in your office. There are people coming and going here, so don't let anyone find out." Song Jing grabbed his clothes and whispered.

"Okay." He Mian answered smoothly after achieving his goal. With a smile on his face, he and Song Jing walked back to his independent office, one after the other.

People in positions like Song Jing can actually have an independent office, but she doesn't spend most of her working time in the office, and many times practical experiments cannot be done by one person.

There are often situations where everyone needs to discuss problems together. Her work is more group-oriented, so she has never moved to a new office and has always been in a large office with her colleagues in the same group.

Although everyone is in a large office, the area of each workstation is not small. She usually puts a portable bed directly in front of her desk to take a nap. Her desk can even completely cover her portable bed.

There was no scent of Song Jing in He Mian's office, so he sometimes felt uneasy, like a pet cat that had arrived in a strange place that had neither the scent of its owner nor any familiar smell.

He closed the office door and immediately turned around to hug Song Jing, "Let me hug you." He buried his head in Song Jing's shoulder and couldn't help rubbing her warm neck with his nose and lips.

"Take a rest at noon. It's quieter here and there are beds here." He Mian asked softly in her ear, with a pleading tone in his voice.

Song Jing rested her chin on He Mian's body. She nodded slowly, poking his body with her chin. He Mian knew that she agreed, and immediately showed her the place prepared for her to rest.

Song Jing always feels sleepy after eating. The reason is simple: she eats too much and feels dizzy due to carbohydrates.

Song Jing leaned back on the bed with her arms and patted her stomach which was a little bloated from eating too much.

She raised her head and looked at He Mian, patting the bed. "Want to sleep together?"

Unexpectedly, she would ask this question. He Mian was a little happy and replied, "Okay, I'll go close the window first."

The bed in the office lounge is not very big, not as big as their bed at home, just enough to accommodate two people.

He Mian drew the curtains around the office. Without the sunlight, the room became much darker, but the brightness was still bright enough to see the scene clearly.

He Mian was wearing her favorite perfume, which had only a very light scent, but he knew that Song Jing liked this subtle feeling.

And because the fragrance is not strong, Song Jing will take the initiative to get closer to him in order to smell it.

For example, Song Jing now leaned on him and took a breath. Ever since she knew that He Mian was a cat, Song Jing seemed to think of him more and more as a cat, even though he still looked like a human and had no furry fur on his body.

But he often took the initiative to show weakness, which made her think he was a little cute.

She can find many people handsome and beautiful, but she doesn't find many people cute. So He Mian really enjoys her current feelings for him.

Song Jing knew that He Mian couldn't easily turn into a kitten now, as he was relatively weak and sensitive recently.

She couldn't hug him like she hugged Xiaomian, but now she could hug He Mian, who was more than a head taller than her.

She raised her hand and played with his eyes and nose. Her fingertips gently moved over his eyelashes and then slowly touched the top of his nose. "Are your eyes this color because the kitten's eyes are golden?"

He Mian was stunned for a long moment before he hummed. His eyes weren't originally this color, but because Song Jing liked Xiaomian's eyes so much, he also had the ability to turn them amber-gold.

The process was a bit painful and tiring. In order not to make Song Jing worry too much, he did not tell her in detail.

"Are there many people like you in this world, people whose true nature is not human?"

He Mian shook his head. "Not really. Actually, there aren't many. There's just a small portion in each region."

He began to explain in detail to Song Jing the world and the animals in it other than real humans.

Because humans now interfere too much with the earth and nature, it is impossible to maintain the normal survival of every creature by relying solely on the original food chain and nature.

So the world needs people like him to intervene. To put it nicely, they are like gods protecting the people, some of them are there to protect people's travel safety, and some of them are there to bless people to make more money...

He Mian's parents were also cat gods, and everyone there was actually a cat god.

Once integrated into the human world, they would have their own missions and jurisdictions. However, He Mian could only recognize cats in human form; he might not be able to recognize other non-human species.

And the most important thing is that the country and the government actually know the existence of this type of people, and there is even a secret department that is specifically responsible for related work.

"Does your situation count as having a job?" Song Jing's mind wandered off and she suddenly asked this question.

He Mian thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, but it's also a secret identity and can't be revealed casually."

Song Jing pretended to be surprised and covered her mouth exaggeratedly, "What will be the consequences if you reveal it to me now?"

"No." He Mian took a deep breath and hugged her. Song Jing's long hair stroked his cheek. The warm and soft touch made him want to stay a little longer, "Because you won't hurt me." Even though Song Jing felt resistance to him at that time, she would not hurt him.

Everyone has two sides, and he has seen the sinister side of many people, so He Mian will not believe anyone. But Song Jing is the only one who is different.

Even if she thought he was a monster she wouldn't hurt him.

Even if Song Jing really hurt him, He Mian would be happy to accept it, after all, it was she who saved his last life.

Song Jing looked up at him, her tone filled with disbelief, "Do you trust me so much?"

"I know you're reluctant. You're the easiest to be soft-hearted."

"You're always saying these nice things." Song Jing moved her hand to poke his chest, and placed her palm on his left chest to feel his heartbeat. She only felt that his heartbeat was very fast.

"Are you tired of working two jobs?" she asked curiously.

"Fortunately, I still have enough energy, and I'm one of those people who sleeps less, so I don't need too long a rest at night."

Song Jing suddenly realized. No wonder he was so capable the past two nights and didn't look tired at all.

Later, He Mian told him some of the things that happened during the four years they were apart, such as how he found the kitten that had asked for help when he went out at night, and how people like him adapted to having two bodies...

As Song Jing spoke, her hands stopped moving and she showed no reaction. He Mian listened to her breathing and looked at her, only to see that she had fallen into a deep sleep with her eyes closed.

He Mian obediently closed his mouth and made no more sound, gradually falling asleep accompanied by her breathing.

His life, or rather, his cat life, was all about his mission. His previous efforts in studying and working were only to have a good enough human identity. He seemed to have no regard for his own personal feelings. He loved his family because blood is thicker than water, and he loved everything in the world because it was his nature.

But his love for Song Jing seemed to be the first time he loved someone out of personal feelings, and the most fortunate thing was that the other person also liked him.

He Mian thought, it would be great if he could spend his whole life like today, completing his tasks and spending every meal with Song Jing.

-

By the time I got home and finished dinner, the sun had already set. The city was full of light, so even after nightfall, the sky still looked bright.

Song Jing was standing outside the balcony, looking up and collecting clothes.

Hearing that the temperature would drop next month, Song Jing took out many autumn and winter clothes from the closet, washed them, and hung them up to dry.

Fortunately, the weather was good today and all the washed clothes were dry. The wind outside was a bit strong, blowing her hair into a mess. Song Jing squinted her eyes and quickly put away the dried clothes one by one.

Autumn and winter clothes are thick and bulky, and she couldn't even put away all the clothes she washed yesterday with both hands.

He Mian, who had just cleaned the kitchen for her, hurried to the balcony and took the clothes from Song Jing.

Then the scent of detergent hit him. He Mian froze for a few seconds while holding the clothes, then continued to hold Song Jing's clothes and slowly walked back to her cloakroom. He couldn't help but lower his head to absorb the fragrance of her clothes. In addition to the smell of a person's body, various detergents can also affect the smell of a person objectively.

So He Mian also liked the scent of the laundry detergent used by Song Jing.

He Mian put the clothes away, hanging up what needed to be hung, and folding what needed to be folded neatly. Song Jing also walked into the cloakroom with the remaining clothes.

He picked up a pair of milk-fleece pajamas and held it in his hand, "Jingjing, where are the pajamas in the closet?" He lowered his head and picked up the matching pajamas. Song Jing had quite a few pajamas, and she had several sets of plush pajamas like this.

"Pyjamas! Let me think about where to put them." Song Jing herself couldn't quite remember the order in which her clothes were placed. She pushed open the doors of the closet and looked up and down. "This section is for pajamas."

She turned to look at He Mian, but found that he seemed to be staring at her pajamas in a daze. Song Jing tilted her head and asked with some confusion, "Is there something wrong with this pajamas?"

"I love this pajamas."

He Mian's sudden words left her even more bewildered. It was just a pair of long-sleeved winter pajamas, not at all interesting. Why did he like it?

"What's so good about this?"

"It's furry and smells like you." He Mian raised his head with a sincere look in his eyes. No kitten can resist furry.

There will be kittens growing on the furry pajamas.

He Mian clenched his hands tightly, but still couldn't help but lower his head and smell the pajamas.

Song Jing wanted to take off her pajamas shyly, but she didn't expect He Mian to hold it so tightly that she couldn't pull it away from his hand.

"I just like the way you smell so much. I'll fold it for you now." He Mian lowered his head and folded the pajamas.

Song Jing put all the clothes away and said, "It's getting late. Don't help me anymore. Go back and take a shower first." She pulled He Mian up and pushed him out of the house.

"Okay, I'll come see you after I've washed myself nice and smell good." He Mian quickly kissed her on the forehead. Seeing her smile, he walked briskly back to his house across the street.

Song Jing thought he was just joking, but she didn't expect him to come over after washing up and want to stay with her, saying that they couldn't be together at work and they had to make up for it when they got home.

There was no reason to refuse the handsome cat who came to her door, so Song Jing opened the door and let him in.

He Mian stayed with her for almost three hours. He sat on the sofa and used his thigh as a pillow for Song Jing. The latest program was playing on the projection screen in the living room. She was watching the program while browsing her phone.

Song Jing suddenly looked at the time and realized that He Mian had been using her legs as a pillow for more than an hour.

"It's so late and you have to get up early for work tomorrow. Aren't you ready to go to bed?" Song Jing reached out and patted his leg, with a hint of urging in her tone.

"I want to stay with you." He Mian held her hand on his leg and tickled her palm with his fingertips.

"You have your own home, go back to your own home and sleep." Song Jing got up, pulled him up and pushed him, fearing that she could not resist He Mian's temptation tonight.

She had been almost busy during the past two days of the weekend, but she was really tired today. He Mian's cat was in estrus and Song Jing didn't want to do it even if she had the desire.

"I am yours, and your home is my home." He Mian is very strict and disciplined at work, but he has no rules at all when talking intimately with Song Jing. His words are all twisted, but no one can refute him.

"You want to be a sleeping kitten?" Song Jing smiled and walked behind him, putting her hands on his shoulders, still wanting to push him back to his own home.

He Mian turned around and faced Song Jing with a frown, "Yes, just let me be your sleeping companion. It's not like I haven't slept with you before."

Because humans like cute things, kittens are very good at meowing. And He Mian would also subconsciously speak to her in a tone that was not entirely close to his natural voice. This tone was clear and gentle, and the ending seemed to have a hint of laughter.

Song Jing looked into his eyes, her heart softened and she couldn't refuse. She would not admit that she agreed because she felt comfortable sleeping with He Mian.

"Okay, then I'll turn over your card tonight." She raised her hand and scratched his chin with her fingertips, just like petting a kitten.

He Mian enjoyed her actions very much. He tilted his head slightly, squinted his eyes, and let her do what she wanted with an expression of enjoyment and willingness.

They had always slept together in He Mian's bed, but this was the first time he, as He Mian, had spent the night in her room. Her room was filled with her scent. That inexplicably comforting and pleasant smell wafted around him. He Mian's heartbeat quickened. He adjusted his movements to assume Song Jing's favorite sleeping position, letting her lie down peacefully.

"Your quilt smells so good. I haven't covered myself with your quilt in a long time." He Mian whispered, touching her belly with his hand.

"What do you mean by a long time? You haven't done it before..." Song Jing changed the subject and suddenly remembered that strictly speaking, He Mian had slept with her in her bed, but he was still a little rabbit at that time.

The mind tends to wander at night. Strange thoughts and memories suddenly popped up in Song Jing's mind. She put her hands on her chest and said, "You didn't see anything you shouldn't have seen in my bed before, did you?"

She secretly thanked herself for not having the habit of sleeping naked, nor the habit of taking off her clothes when she was alone at home.

"No." He Mian leaned against her and laughed darkly, "I still know my limits."

"If you have good sense, you still stick to me every day to hug me and sleep with me." Song Jing remembered that Xiaomian especially liked to jump into the bed at night.

"It's you who likes to cling to me, cuddle with me, and sleep with me." He Mian paused, his tone becoming more serious. "Actually, when I was in that state of a kitten, my thinking and behavior were not exactly the same as those of a human. Because the brain structure of a kitten is different from that of a human, I couldn't speak or clearly express my feelings at that time."

"So please don't think that I was a bad person back then."

"Well... Xiao Mian is not bad, He Mian is bad."

"Well, my position in your heart is still not as high as Xiaomian's." He Mian said quietly, with a somewhat pitiful tone.

Song Jing just smiled and didn't say anything. He was used to using this tone to act coquettishly with her, even making her jealous.

She had left a bedside lamp on in the room for He Mian, which made his eyes seem to sparkle. Song Jing supported herself with her hands, sat up, lowered her head, and kissed him on the cheek, "Goodnight kiss."

He Mian kissed her lips again with some dissatisfaction, and his nose touched hers. "Reciprocity is the norm," he replied, imitating Song Jing's words.

As summer turned to autumn, their life, though somewhat mechanical and dull, was no longer monotonous. He Mian delighted in sticking to Song Jing whenever he could, even more clingy than Xiao Meng.

If their offices weren't on the same floor, He Mian would have been even more irritated. After work, they would naturally go home together.

The weather is getting colder, and today is the time to wear an extra coat.

He Mianfei said that they wanted to celebrate their third month anniversary together, and Song Jing didn't want him to go home and cook after working overtime in the cold weather, so they went to a restaurant outside to have dinner, went shopping for a while and bought a pair of couple jackets before going home.

The colorful lights that were put up for the festival a while ago are still hanging on the fences and trees downstairs in the community, flashing colorful and dazzling lights.

The two walked step by step. The wind was so strong that it made their ears feel uncomfortable. Song Jing wanted to go back indoors quickly, but her ears seemed to move. "Did you hear any sound?" Song Jing paused while holding He Mian's hand, and her steps also stopped. She tilted her head and looked for the source of the sound quietly.

"It's the sound of a cat." He Mian quickly identified the subtle sounds. He sniffed and followed the smell to find a wounded kitten beside the flower bed.

"It must have lost a fight." He Mian used his flashlight to carefully examine the wound on the cat's back. It was a tragic loss, and the wound on its back was quite severe. It had become infected from exposure to the air.

"Do we need some medicine? But it looks a bit serious. Should we take him to the hospital for a checkup?" The wound looked a bit scary, so Song Jing still felt it necessary to send him to the hospital for a checkup.

The two people who wanted to go home and rest early still braved the cold weather to send the cat to the animal hospital invested by He Mian.

The kitten had no major problems except for some wounds from fighting and some malnutrition. He Mian also had the doctor arrange for the white cat to be sterilized, but now the cat holds a grudge against He Mian and Song Jing.

Song Jing's ability to attract small animals rarely worked.

This cat is not actually white. There is a small black spot on its ear, but other than this spot, the rest of its fur is white. However, like most white cats, it still gets bullied.

After the doctor diagnosed that the kitten had no serious problems, Song Jing and He Mian returned to the community.

Early in the morning, Song Jing was sitting in her office, eating a chocolate bar. Jiang Qixin poked her head out in front of her and said, "Sister Jingjing, I saw the photo you posted yesterday. Did you pick up a stray cat?"

"Oh, yes, it was injured and sent to the hospital. But it's still resting in the hospital and hasn't found an adopter yet."

Winter is approaching, and stray cats might not survive the winter outdoors. However, this is a process of natural selection, and strictly speaking, He Mian has no obligation to save the cat. However, Song Jing felt sorry for it, thinking that white cats are easily bullied and can't fight back, so she considered finding a foster home for it.

This cat has a very docile temperament, but because He Mian and Song Jing sent it here for sterilization, it is now showing a cold face and getting angry at its two saviors.

This pet hospital cooperates with rescue organizations and also has official publicity accounts and platforms. White cats are still beautiful in people's eyes, and it is not difficult to find an adopter for a good-tempered little white cat.

"Hey, where did you pick it up?"

Song Jing finished her chocolate bar and gave Jiang Qixin another. She lowered her head to throw away the wrapper and blurted out, "I found it in the neighborhood when I was going home with He Mian last night."

"Oh... um? He Mian?" Jiang Qixin nodded and suddenly realized that there was something wrong with what Song Jing said.

"Sister Jingjing, are you talking about Director He?" Jojo could see Jiang Qixin's shining eyes through the lenses of his glasses.

Song Jing was stunned. She had forgotten that she had never made her relationship with He Mian public in front of others. She forced a smile and nodded silently.
