Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Leaving Heaven

When they arrived at the aquarium entrance, Luo De was about to go to the ticket office to buy a ticket for himself when he saw Liang Beihai and A Yu huddled together, talking and pushing each other, and carefully watching Luo De's movements.

"Didn't you buy tickets?"

"Yes." A Yu pushed Liang Beihai to the front, "She forgot to buy it and is on her way there now."

"Why is she the one spending money?" Luo asked A Yu with a frown.

A Yu glanced at Luo. The reason Liang Beihai asked him to go with him to deliver the tickets was that he met a strange person, who might be someone, but he was not sure, and hoped that he could go with him.

Looking at this guy's sarcastic and ever-changing attitude, he guessed that he was most likely the person Liang Beihai was talking about.

So he didn't intend to give a good answer nor did he intend to give him a good look.

"Didn't you ask her to buy you a drink too?"

"Is that the same?"

"Why are you different? Are you special?"

"Ayu." Liang Beihai called the boy's name and interrupted their conversation.

"Look if you want to, and leave if you don't want to."

The latter sentence was changed into Mandarin and was addressed to Luo.

"Why do you favor him?" Luo blurted out. At that moment, he was somewhat glad that he spoke Mandarin, otherwise it would be really embarrassing if the boy heard it.

"Because we were originally together, you just met us halfway, brother."

Luo didn't expect that A Yu could speak Mandarin. It turns out that he is not from N country. Mandarin is hard to speak. Why is he pretending to be mute?

So what's their relationship? Did they know each other before?

"I'm telling you two, if you want to watch it, then watch it. If you don't want to watch it, then leave. It'll save me the ticket money."

A Yu immediately changed his attitude, and stuck to Liang Beihai and took her arm: "You said you would invite me to the aquarium today, sister, you can't go back on your word."

Luo was too lazy to argue with a high school student who spoke incoherent Mandarin.

In the end, Luo bought three tickets, asking Liang Beihai and A Yu to shut up and watch the fish.

When they arrived at the aquarium's limited ice cream window, the staff was still fiddling with the machine, so A Yu offered to buy the ice cream himself and asked Luo De and Liang Beihai to wait for him there.

"Today is his birthday, try to let him have some time."

Luo tried to hear the hidden meaning in Liang Beihai's words. In fact, it was clearly a chance meeting. Liang Beihai didn't need to be so polite. After all, they would never see each other again.

Luo didn't know whether this was Liang Beihai's soft-heartedness and tolerance towards him since they just met, or his usual unscrupulous and kind-hearted nature.

"It's his birthday, so what? I bought him a ticket too."

"You might not care much, but we do. Even if we just met by chance, since we're hanging out together, please show us a little respect."

Liang Beihai's use of "we" made Luo feel uncomfortable.

Moreover, there was already some unhappiness in Liang Beihai's tone. She directly judged that Luo was not someone who cared about birthdays, which also made Luo a little unhappy.

Birthday? Luo De recalled the table he'd compiled of occasions when Bei Bei might be angry. Two items were marked: first birthday and second birthday. He'd colored the first note in red, indicating that Bei Bei Bei might be angry. The second note was orange, indicating that Luo De was also angry.

Luo didn't like celebrating birthdays and was not interested in anyone's birthday, but he never told Liang Beihai.

For him, birthdays are not a day worth celebrating. He is getting older, his family is getting older, and he is drifting in a foreign land with a confused future.

He almost instinctively rejected celebrating his birthday and refused to face the changes of age.

But Liang Beihai, who had never met her, had no idea about this, and he couldn't say it out loud.

He was ten years older than Liang Beihai, but that didn't make him any more mature. He remembered the popular TV series from his childhood, where the reserved and seemingly unruly male lead was older than the sensitive and suspicious female lead, and after a quarrel, they would quip that the younger one was ignorant and should listen to the older one.

I enjoyed watching it when I was a kid, but now it seems that age has no effect at all, stupid is still stupid.

Luo didn't want to continue this topic, so he changed the subject and asked Liang Beihai: "Are you short of money?"

"You've asked that question before."

Luo wanted to scold her, saying that if she didn't want to be with him, she could have just let him go. Why did she stay and start a quarrel? Then he thought that the older one should give in to the younger one.

"I'm in need of a handyman, someone who can do some design work, some small drawings, or something like that. Would you like to work part-time? The hours are quite flexible, and it won't interfere with your classes."

"Why?"

"Why? We're short of staff, and this position isn't set up for you. If you want to go, send me your name and phone number. Someone will invite you for an interview." Luo De took out a business card from his business card holder and handed it to Liang Beihai.

Liang Beihai took a quick look and felt that it was a formal company. He silently recited the Chinese pronunciation and the N country pronunciation of Luo's name in his mind and planned to check it again when he got home.

A Yu had already bought the ice cream and waved to Liang Beihai to help him get some. Liang Beihai trotted over to take the ice cream from his hand.

"What are you talking about?"

"Introduce me to a part-time job."

"Since you're so kind, do you want to change the name of your 'Boss and Colleagues in Heaven' account?"

Seeing that he was about to get ahead of Luo, Liang Beihai winked at A Yu and hushed him, telling him to stop talking.

When Luo saw the two people whispering to each other, a trace of sadness flashed through his heart.

She didn't appreciate Liang Beihai's desire to share in the past, so she turned to other people to exchange secrets, tell her thoughts, and talk about gossip that others didn't know.

I didn't expect Liang Beihai to be so unreliable. His words that he liked older men and hated younger men became a thing of the past.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Luo took a big bite of the ice cream and grimaced in fear from the cold.

"You're so old, why are you acting so crazy?" Liang Beihai handed him a tissue and saw his distorted face. He couldn't understand why someone loved this unpalatable themed ice cream so much.

Because it was a weekday, there were not many people. When they arrived at the place with a whole glass wall for taking pictures, Liang Beihai ran over there and waited, and asked Ayu Manta Ray to swim over and take pictures for him.

Luo knew she must be thinking of some bad jokes.

"Do you want me to take a photo with you?" A Yu tried to test Luo again, but the young man's purpose was too obvious, and his exploration and curiosity overflowed.

Luo Xiaoxiao didn't say anything, but quickly raised his mobile phone to capture the scene of the manta ray swimming to Liang Beihai.

A Yu came over to look at the photos. Liang Beihai looked back and saw a manta ray swimming by. He knew they had finished taking the photos and came over.

"Ayu, do you know what this photo is called in Chinese?"

A Yu shook his head in confusion.

Although Luo didn't know what was going on, he knew she was going to tell a cliché and was on high alert.

"This is called the manta ray. Do you want it?"

A Yu still didn't understand and was even more confused. Luo also didn't understand because he didn't know where the joke came from.

"Forget it, you two are really boring." Liang Beihai only then realized that it was Luo who took the photo of him. He glared at the confused A Yu and asked, "Where did you take the photo?"

"He asked me to take a picture of you guys, so I got distracted."

You little brat, you speak very quickly and eloquently when you're not speaking Chinese. Luo looked at Liang Beihai and waited for her invitation.

Liang Beihai originally wanted to curse A Yu and get away with it, but when he saw Luo De staring at him, he suddenly wanted to know Luo De's answer. However, before he could open his mouth, Luo De lost his patience and spoke.

“Why not shoot it?”

She heard Luo's answer.
