After Wen Shuqiao came out of the kitchen, Shen Jiazhou was already sitting on the sofa, fiddling with his phone.
She placed her portion of fruit on the dining table, then took another bowl of fruit and placed it on the coffee table.
Shen Jiazhou glanced at it and said, "Didn't I say I wasn't going to eat it?"
Wen Shuqiao put it down and turned back to the dining table. Hearing this, she just casually replied, "Mmm, I washed too much. If you're not going to eat it, you can leave it for President Gu and Can Can later."
Shen Jiazhou snorted softly. No one had ever spoken to him like that before!
But Wen Shuqiao ignored him completely. After putting everything back in its place, she sat down at the dining table with her keyboard. Shen Jiazhou, who was dealing with emails on his phone, looked up when he heard the clattering of the keyboard.
After listening for a while, she got up and sat down opposite Wen Shuqiao.
Wen Shuqiao merely glanced at him before continuing to concentrate on typing.
Shen Jiazhou placed his hands on the table, folded over each other: "What kind of part-time job do you do?"
He had asked before, but Wen Shuqiao didn't go into details. What kind of part-time jobs require typing like crazy?
Wen Shuqiao didn't even look up: "Write a novel."
Shen Jiazhou was naturally familiar with novels. He had heard about Gu Xingyuan and his friends' obsession with chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) themes when they were in high school.
Seeing Wen Shuqiao's serious expression, he asked again, "Why aren't you using a computer?"
Wen Shuqiao's fingers didn't stop; they continued typing rapidly: "Didn't buy."
A computer costs at least several thousand yuan. Although she could afford it, Wen Shuqiao felt it wasn't a necessity and there was no need to spend the money.
Shen Jiazhou realized that Wen Shuqiao didn't want to talk to him, so he leaned back slightly in his chair.
After thinking for a moment, he couldn't help but ask, "How about we play a game?"
Wen Shuqiao then looked up at him and said, "You seem to have a lot of free time today."
Shen Jiazhou's lips curled down slightly: "Want to play or not?"
Wen Shuqiao had no choice but to say, "Okay, what do you want to play?"
Shen Jiazhou said, "Close your eyes first."
Wen Shuqiao was puzzled, but after meeting Shen Jiazhou's eyes, she did as he said.
Shen Jiazhou raised his hand and waved it in front of her to make sure Wen Shuqiao had closed the book before slowly tearing off a tissue, crumpling it into a ball, and finally leaving both hands on the table.
"Open your eyes."
Wen Shuqiao opened her eyes and looked at Shen Jiazhou's clenched fist: "What? Going to fight?"
“…” Shen Jiazhou said, “Sometimes your words are so straightforward that I don’t know how to respond.”
How can someone be even more blunt than him!
Wen Shuqiao suppressed a laugh: "So?"
Looking at the smile in her eyes, Shen Jiazhou understood that she was teasing him again.
But he pretended not to see it, and raised his chin: "Guess which hand has the tissue?"
Wen Shuqiao looked at them all and said, "I guess they all are."
Shen Jiazhou choked up for a moment: "Can't you just have fun in peace?"
Wen Shuqiao honestly explained, "I heard you take out tissues twice."
The tissues were right there, and Shen Jiazhou hadn't tried to hide them, so it was hard for her to guess wrong.
Shen Jiazhou's gaze fell on her ears, and he was truly speechless. He opened his arms, and the crumpled tissue in his hands fell onto the table.
He crossed his arms and said, "You win."
Wen Shuqiao hummed in agreement: "Thank you."
Shen Jiazhou picked up his phone, head down, and went to send a message to someone.
Wen Shuqiao tapped the keyboard and asked again, "Want to play again?"
"I'm too lazy to bother Mr. Wen while he's making money," Shen Jiazhou said. "I can see right through your disgust."
Wen Shuqiao thought to herself, "She didn't do that; this is slander."
However, Shen Jiazhou quieted down and became focused again.
Neither of them is speaking.
After sending the message, Shen Jiazhou looked up again, wanting to say something to her, but seeing her serious expression, he swallowed the words that were about to come out.
We should be more sensible now.
Shen Jiazhou raised one hand, resting his elbow on the table, his fingers slightly touching his chin, his gaze fixed on the person sitting opposite him.
The air conditioner was on in the living room. After finishing her work, Wen Shuqiao took off her coat, revealing a light-colored sweater underneath. For convenience while working, she rolled up the sleeves to her elbows, showing off her slender wrists.
She doesn't seem to like wearing jewelry.
Shen Jiazhou noticed that, in his memory, Wen Shuqiao had never worn jewelry and always kept her appearance simple.
But she looks good like this too. Right now, her long hair is held back with a brown clip, and a few unruly strands fall over her shoulders, which adds to her gentle and graceful appearance.
He blinked slightly; this was the first time he had looked at Wen Shuqiao so intently since he noticed something was off about her.
As I looked, my gaze fell on the tiny mole behind the corner of her eye. The mole was perfectly positioned, adding a touch of charm to Wen Shuqiao's captivating eyes.
Shen Jiazhou recalled the words she had said to him with a smile the night before.
Be happy.
When he said those words, it was as if the mole was also speaking.
A slight smile played on his lips as he asked, "Shuqiao, besides work, what else do you like to do?"
When Wen Shuqiao gets busy, she tends to ignore her surroundings. After typing several more times on the keyboard, she finally realized what Shen Jiazhou was saying.
She didn't understand why Shen Jiazhou was asking this, but still politely replied, "Nothing, just spacing out."
Shen Jiazhou said, "You have to have a hobby, right?"
Wen Shuqiao paused for a moment, then said frankly, "My hobby is making money, that's all."
Whether in her past life or this life, working and making money is her primary goal. Especially in her past life, when she didn't have a job, she liked to stay in her dormitory and rest.
