[Mingxue, Zhanxinjia]
By the time you read this letter, I will have already left this world.
Can Can's third birthday is just around the corner, and Ah Chen has been gone for two years now. I never imagined that I would be leaving soon too.
Actually, death is not a scary thing for me. The only thing I can't let go of is Can Can.
After I leave, Su Sisi will definitely not treat Cancan well. I have also thought about whether to send Cancan back to the Shen family, but Ah Chen's past and death make me unable to do this. I don't want Cancan to live in an environment full of deceit and entanglement of interests. After thinking it over, the only person I can entrust to you is you.
You might wonder, with communication technology so advanced these days, why not just tell you directly? Why go through all this trouble?
This is my little bit of... conscience, hahaha!
I think maybe you'll forget about our agreement once you go abroad. If you forget, I don't want you to bear any burden.
But you've already seen this letter, which means you're back, so don't blame me for being shameless!
If Can Can isn't doing well with Su Sisi, then please take him away.
The bank card has a total of over five million yuan, which is the money I left for him. I don't know how prices will be in the future, but it should be enough to cover his food and childcare expenses for a few years. If there are any extra expenses, you can write an IOU and let Can Can pay them back himself when he grows up.
There's also a house, which I bought for him in City A. The location is pretty good. If he doesn't want to go with you, please help him find a nanny so you can occasionally spare some time to look after him.
Can Can is fairly obedient and shouldn't cause you much trouble (even if she does, there's nothing we can do; you can beat her if you want, and Ah Chen and I will pretend we didn't see it).
If you're unwilling to do any of those, then please contact Ah Chen's younger brother, Jia Zhou. Although Ah Chen doesn't want to bother his brother, there's no other way; someone has to take care of this kid.
Mingxue, I know you've always been stubborn but soft-hearted. I wish you a life free from illness and misfortune, filled with joy and freedom.
If there is an afterlife, and everything goes well, then please don't meet me again.
Wen Zhixia's Last Words
After reading the letter, Wen Shuqiao understood the general situation, but there was still one thing she was puzzled about.
When did Wen Zhixia fall ill?
Yu Mingxue said that Wen Zhixia made a promise to send her blessings via email when she went abroad. Was Wen Zhixia already sick at that time?
Did Wen Zhixia fall ill so early in the novel?
Wen Shuqiao felt something was strange, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Her gaze fell on the small notebook in the box. She put the letter aside and picked up the notebook.
The notebook was very small, only about the size of Wen Shuqiao's palm. She opened the cover and found some of Wen Zhixia's notes inside.
Judging from the time, it was probably written after Shen Jiachen's incident.
Actually, the content is just some boring records, recording what Can Can did each day, like something written casually.
She was halfway through reading when Yu Mingxue returned. She glanced at her and asked, "What are you looking at?"
Wen Shuqiao looked up at her. Yu Mingxue's eyes were slightly red, and her emotions were clearly fluctuating.
She said softly, "Let me see the notebook in the box."
Yu Mingxue said "oh" and simply sat down next to her, arms crossed, looking like a cool girl.
Wen Shuqiao turned another page and paused for a moment after seeing the contents.
A long time ago, I had a dream in which Ah-Chen would die in a car accident. I woke up in a fright and told Ah-Chen about it. He said it was just a dream and wouldn't come true, but I never expected it to actually happen.
Dream?
Wen Shuqiao frowned, remaining on this page. Just as she was about to ponder it, she heard Yu Mingxue beside her complain, "Is it really worth taking this long to look at just a few words?"
Wen Shuqiao asked in confusion, "What?"
Yu Mingxue then said, "Wen Zhixia is really something. She only said she had a dream a long time ago, but she should have written it down. Sure enough, I will never understand her. She always only says half of what she means, but she is quick to entrust her orphan to someone else."
“She wrote…” Wen Shuqiao suddenly stopped.
She looked at the page again. Wen Zhixia's dream was clearly written down, so why did Yu Mingxue say it wasn't?
Wen Shuqiao's gaze swept quickly across Yu Mingxue's face. Yu Mingxue didn't seem to react anything unusual; in fact, she seemed a little puzzled.
It seems like they really didn't see what came next.
Wen Shuqiao's strange feeling deepened, and Yu Mingxue urged, "Turn the page, what are you standing there for?"
Wen Shuqiao then came to her senses and turned another page. With each page, she would look at Yu Mingxue's expression, and there was nothing amiss.
The notebook quickly turned to the last few pages, and Wen Zhixia's notes increased.
Wen Shuqiao frowned after only reading the first sentence, while Yu Mingxue beside her had already stood up.
Wen Shuqiao asked, "Aren't you going to watch it anymore?"
Yu Mingxue gave her a look that said, "Are you alright?": "Haven't you seen everything? What else is there to see?"
Wen Shuqiao pursed her lips and followed up, "I thought you would want to see what's ahead."
"I'm not going to watch it anymore; the content is pretty much the same everywhere." Yu Mingxue said calmly, "Even if I did watch it, the person wouldn't come back."
Wen Shuqiao closed the notebook, her fingers tightening slightly: "You're right."
As Yu Mingxue walked out, she said, "I just asked the old lady next door, and she knows where Wen Zhixia is buried. Let's take the things and go see her."
Wen Shuqiao hummed in agreement, put the notebook back into the tin box, then wrapped the box tightly inside her coat. She found a bag, packed it up, and left with Yu Mingxue.
