Perhaps it was because Can Can's shocked expression was too comical that Shen Jiazhou couldn't help but smile, and his depressed mood dissipated somewhat.
Wen Shuqiao suppressed a laugh and said, "Okay, I'm sorry, Auntie was wrong, baby can't eat it."
Can Can nodded in satisfaction: "Okay, Auntie, I forgive you, but you can't eat people!"
Wen Shuqiao poured warm water on him: "Okay, I won't eat people."
Can Can enjoyed a top-notch bathing service, and was finally scooped out of the water by his uncle with a bath towel. He then put on his favorite cartoon pajamas and was carried to the bed by his aunt like a stone.
He huddled under the covers, with milk nestled at the foot of his bed and cake lying there, keeping him company.
Wen Shuqiao said, "Go to sleep. We need to get up early tomorrow to take Aunt Mingxue to school and also go to the kindergarten for a trial period."
Can Can held her aunt's hand, rested her head on her aunt's palm, and couldn't help but ask, "Auntie, is kindergarten really fun?"
Wen Shuqiao gently stroked his face with her fingertips: "Whether it's fun or not, only you, baby, will know after you try it yourself."
"Can't you and Uncle really come with me to kindergarten?" Can Can asked, feeling dejected.
Although his aunt and uncle had told him that he could only go to kindergarten alone and that they could only pick him up in the afternoon, he still tried to refuse when it came time to go.
Why do children have to go to kindergarten? He doesn't want to go at all now.
Wen Shuqiao said, "No, baby, that's a children's school. My uncle and I are adults, we can't go in."
Can Can closed her eyes tightly, pretending that she hadn't heard anything.
Wen Shuqiao chuckled softly: "Although your aunt and uncle can't go in with you, they'll definitely be at the front when they come to pick you up this afternoon."
Can Can opened his eyes again and asked, "First place?"
"Auntie can't guarantee it, but I'll definitely be in the top few, okay?" Wen Shuqiao said. "Uncle and I will come pick you up with some delicious food, okay?"
Can Can swallowed hard, her heart wavering for a moment.
Just then, Shen Jiazhou finished tidying up the bathroom and came out. He asked, "What are you talking about?"
Wen Shuqiao briefly recounted their conversation, and Shen Jiazhou hummed in agreement: "What do you want to eat? I'll bring it over with your aunt tomorrow."
Her bright, dark eyes darted around: "I want to eat fried chicken legs!"
He hasn't had a delicious chicken leg in ages, he's going to eat it like crazy!
"Come back tomorrow night for dinner, and Grandma will fry some for you," Shen Jiazhou said. "How about your aunt and I bring you your favorite candied strawberries to pick you up?"
"Okay!" Can Can quickly agreed, "Can I have one skewer?"
Ever since her aunt gave the order that she couldn't eat too many sweets, Can Can hasn't had candied strawberries in a long time!
"Okay." Wen Shuqiao pinched his cheek. "Go to sleep now."
Can Can closed her eyes in relief, but opened them again a second later, and instructed, "You can only leave when I'm asleep!"
Today was the first time he had actually slept alone. Although he was a little reluctant, he accepted it.
Wen Shuqiao was hunched over, her hand pressed down by Cancan's head, which made her feel uncomfortable.
She turned around when she heard a soft sound behind her. It was Shen Jiazhou who had placed a children's cartoon soft stool behind her. After sitting down, she felt much more comfortable.
Shen Jiazhou moved his chair to her side and stayed with her as Can Can slept soundly.
The two sat together in silence for an unknown amount of time until Cancan's breathing finally became even.
Wen Shuqiao slowly pulled her hand out from under his head, and Shen Jiazhou also came over and gently lifted Cancan's head slightly.
Only after Wen Shuqiao withdrew his hand did he place Cancan's head on the pillow.
He glanced at the door, and Wen Shuqiao nodded. They both remained silent and quietly left Can Can's bedroom.
It wasn't until they reached the sofa that Wen Shuqiao spoke, "I wonder if he'll kick off the covers at night."
Shen Jiazhou replied, "I'll get up and check on him every now and then. Don't worry, even if he kicks off the blankets, the room temperature won't make him catch a cold."
Wen Shuqiao nodded in agreement. Even if she was worried, she had to keep going. Can Can would only grow older, and it was better to intervene early.
She said, "I have to get up early tomorrow, so I'm going upstairs now. You should get some rest."
Shen Jiazhou nodded: "Good night."
"Good night." After saying good night to him, Wen Shuqiao went upstairs.
Shen Jiazhou watched her figure disappear at the top of the stairs before slowly withdrawing his gaze.
I don't know what came to mind, but I chuckled softly, feeling much more relaxed.
He was just thinking about what he should say if Wen Shuqiao asked him, but he forgot that Wen Shuqiao is a highly sensitive person. If she senses bad mood, she won't reveal the truth.
Shen Jiazhou sighed again, and after standing in the living room for an unknown amount of time, he finally returned to his bedroom.

At six o'clock in the morning, Wen Shuqiao and Shen Jiazhou got up. After washing up, one of them made breakfast while the other helped Cancan put on her school uniform.
Can Can leaned against her uncle's shoulder, half asleep, brushing her teeth, washing her face, and applying lotion. She didn't fully wake up until she sat down at the table and saw the wontons her aunt had cooked.
We were going to see Aunt Mingxue off today. Thank goodness, he would have overslept if his aunt and uncle hadn't called him!
Shen Jiazhou asked Yu Mingxue last night when she was leaving for the airport. She left after breakfast, and the time was about the same.
