Wen Shuqiao quickly walked up to them and asked with a smile, "You didn't have to wait long, did you?"
The little flower shop was doing unexpectedly well. Packaging and payment took a little time, so she waited in line for a while.
Shen Jiazhou looked up at her and shook his head: "It didn't take long."
Then his gaze moved down and landed on the bouquet of flowers in her arms.
"These are very beautiful flowers," he complimented.
The next second, Wen Shuqiao handed him the larger bouquet of flowers she was holding with a smile.
Shen Jiazhou was taken aback: "For me?"
Wen Shuqiao nodded: "Yes, it's for you."
Shen Jiazhou became a little flustered, his voice even stammering: "Oh, oh? Give it to me, give it to me."
He had received flowers before, and he had bought flowers before, but Wen Shuqiao's bouquet looked beautiful no matter how you looked at it.
Her outstretched arm was a little stiff as she handed the bouquet to him: "The flower shop doesn't have many kinds of flowers, just some common ones. I just picked a few at random. I hope you don't mind."
There aren't many flowers in winter, and even fewer on this flowerbed, but every single one in his arms was in full bloom, each one exquisitely beautiful.
Even though it was winter, he saw spring in the flowers.
"Baby, these are your flowers, do you like them?"
Shen Jiazhou snapped out of his daze and turned to look at Cancan sitting next to him, who was now buried in the bouquet of flowers in her arms, looking completely absorbed.
Truly... a fierce and dazzling flower-sniffing performance.
The burning sensation in Shen Jiazhou's ears seemed to have subsided somewhat.
He asked, "What made you decide to buy flowers?"
Wen Shuqiao didn't hear her. She sat on the other bench and smoothed Can Can's collar, saying, "Why is your collar sticking up?"
Can Can looked up from among the flowers: "Just now, for my uncle..."
"Cough cough cough cough cough."
Shen Jiazhou, who was standing next to him, suddenly coughed, which made Wen Shuqiao and Cancan look at him.
Wen Shuqiao asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." Shen Jiazhou cleared his throat. "I just choked a little."
Wen Shuqiao looked at his face; it seemed he had choked quite badly, his whole face was red.
Shen Jiazhou said, "You haven't answered me yet."
"Huh? What?" Wen Shuqiao asked, confused. "Didn't I answer anything?"
Shen Jiazhou glanced down at the flowers in his hand and repeated, "Why did you decide to buy flowers?"
Wen Shuqiao then heard her clearly and said, "Thank you for the gift."
A thank-you gift?
Shen Jiazhou couldn't help but look up. Wen Shuqiao stretched out her hand, revealing her watch and transparent crystal bracelet. Sunlight fell on it, and her fair arm swayed. Shen Jiazhou felt himself swaying as well.
Wen Shuqiao said, "Thank you for the crystal bracelet and watch."
Shen Jiazhou snapped out of his daze, a slight smile playing on his lips as he touched the flowers in his arms with his finger: "You've got a good plan for this reciprocal gift exchange."
With his pointed ears, Can Can didn't wait for Wen Shuqiao's answer before turning his head and asking, "Uncle, do you not like it?"
Shen Jiazhou was speechless for a moment: "Who said no..."
Before he could speak, Can Can gave her flowers to her aunt, then reached for the flowers in her uncle's arms with both hands. After receiving them, she said with satisfaction, "If you don't like them, they're mine."
"...Give it back!" Shen Jiazhou tried to snatch the flowers back, but Can Can, like a little mudfish, ran away with the flowers in her arms.
Shen Jiazhou even lost his grip and couldn't catch it for a moment.
"Can Can," Shen Jiazhou said, somewhat exasperated, "Give me back the flowers."
Can Can peeked out from behind Wen Shu Qiao's chair, stuck her tongue out at him with wide eyes, and wiggled her butt smugly: "No, no."
Shen Jiazhou chuckled and started rolling up his sleeves: "Shen Shiyue, are you getting out of control these days? Let's see how I deal with you!"
Can Can said, "Come and catch me!"
He didn't believe that his uncle, that idiot, could catch him!
Shen Jiazhou followed Can Can around a few times, and Wen Shuqiao said with a laugh, "Alright, alright, Can Can, give the flowers back to your uncle."
"Uncle, if you catch me, I'll give you the flowers!" Can Can waved the flowers in her hand: "Come on!"
Shen Jiazhou laughed again. He dared to provoke him; he was really asking for trouble.
We can't let him have his way anymore. We need to let Shen Shiyue know who's the boss in this family!
Can Can laughed and circled around, when suddenly he saw his uncle about to grab him. He screamed and quickly burrowed into Wen Shu Qiao's arms.
"Auntie, Auntie, Uncle is bullying me!" Can Can hugged Wen Shu Qiao's neck tightly. Shen Jia Zhou's hand was on his stomach, trying to pull him off Wen Shu Qiao, but Can Can was like he had super glue on him, and he still couldn't get him off.
Wen Shuqiao swayed slightly from their movements and quickly said, "Alright, alright, let's stop fighting, let's stop fighting for now."
Shen Jiazhou then snorted, withdrew his hand, and sat down next to Wen Shuqiao.
Can Can only looked up at Shen Jia Zhou with a mischievous grin when she realized that her uncle had stopped grabbing her.
Shen Jiazhou thought to himself, "Tomorrow I'll set off two strings of firecrackers on Shen Jiachen's grave. What are you sleeping for? Get up and discipline your son who's causing trouble!"
Wen Shuqiao pinched Cancan's nape: "Why did you steal your uncle's flowers? Don't you have your own?"
Looking at the two bouquets of flowers in his arms, Can Can said, "I want Uncle's flowers. Uncle's flowers are bigger than mine."
Shen Jiazhou leaned back in his chair and turned to look at him: "I'm an adult, is there a problem with me taking big flowers? Give the flowers back to me."
Wen Shuqiao said, "I've returned the flowers to my uncle."
Can Can reluctantly took out the flowers from her arms.
