After dinner, the family of three took Cake for a stroll downstairs. As usual, Cake started running around happily as soon as they got downstairs.
My condition is completely different from what it was a few days ago.
While Can Can played frisbee with the cake, Shen Jiazhou and Wen Shuqiao found a bench and sat down.
He looked at the cake holding the frisbee and said softly, "Looking at it this way, Shi Yue is really obvious."
Wen Shuqiao tightened their clasped hands: "Don't think about it too much."
"I wasn't thinking that much about it, I was just reminiscing," Shen Jiazhou said. "I was thinking before, how could an adult not recognize their own child? It's really embarrassing. Not only did they not recognize Shi Yue, but they also didn't recognize the cake."
Wen Shuqiao said softly, "Actually, it's quite normal. Shi Yue carries too much on his shoulders. Logically speaking, he and Can Can are the same person, but in reality, they are still different."
Shen Jiazhou hummed in agreement and said, "However, after this experience, I've come to a lot more open-minded."
Wen Shuqiao looked at him: "What have you figured out?"
Shen Jiazhou said, "People should try to live a happier life."
He shook their clasped hands, then suddenly leaned in and kissed Wen Shuqiao on the corner of her mouth.
Wen Shuqiao looked at him in confusion, not understanding why he had suddenly come closer again.
Shen Jiazhou took a deep breath, lowered his eyes, looked at his fingers inserted into Wen Shuqiao's fingers, and said sincerely, "Thank you, Shuqiao."
"Thank me for what?" Wen Shuqiao was even more confused.
"Thank you for coming into my life." Shen Jiazhou slowly raised his lowered eyes and met Wen Shuqiao's eyes. He said, "With you by my side, I feel at ease doing anything. I don't have to bear those pressures and let them ruin my and Cancan's lives."
Wen Shuqiao slowly rested her head on his shoulder and said, "Then I thank you too."
Shen Jiazhou toyed with her fingers: "Hmm? What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for protecting me," Wen Shuqiao said. "Thank you for giving me someone to rely on."
Shen Jiazhou chuckled softly: "It's clearly you who's protecting me."
However, he still said, "From now on, we'll support each other, and that will be for a lifetime."
Wen Shuqiao responded with an "okay".
Just then, Cancan called out, "Auntie!"
Wen Shuqiao's attention was drawn to Cancan, who was holding a frisbee and controlling the cake to perform a spinning performance.
Wen Shuqiao gave a thumbs up: "Amazing!"
Upon hearing this, Can Can was overjoyed and threw the frisbee. Cake shot over like an arrow, jumped confidently, and caught the frisbee.
Wen Shuqiao was so engrossed in watching that she didn't even notice what Shen Jiazhou took out of his pocket.
Before she could react, her couple's rings had been removed from her finger. She looked down and before she could even speak, she saw Shen Jiazhou push a pink diamond ring onto her finger.
Wen Shuqiao straightened up, looking somewhat bewildered as she turned to look at Shen Jiazhou.
Shen Jiazhou kept looking at the ring on her hand, smiled, and when he looked up, his eyes were red: "Let's get married."
Wen Shuqiao realized what was happening and chuckled softly, "Have you thought it through?"
Shen Jiazhou said slowly, "I've already thought it through."
Looking at Wen Shuqiao's face, he couldn't help but ask, "Is there anything you want to say?"
Wen Shuqiao looked at the ring on her finger again. She pulled her hand away from Shen Jiazhou's and waved her hand in front of him: "Sir, you're already wearing it on my finger, what can I say?"
Shen Jiazhou was a little embarrassed and said, "Then you can refuse."
Wen Shuqiao teased him deliberately: "Really?"
Shen Jiazhou immediately retorted: "That's fake. If you refuse, I'll beg you every day until you agree."
"You're so persistent!" Wen Shuqiao said with a smile. "Well, proposing every day is too much trouble. I'll say yes today."
Shen Jiazhou couldn't suppress the urge to smile.
He hugged Wen Shuqiao and whispered in her ear, "I will respect you and love you. I will show you my promise through my actions."
Wen Shuqiao reached out and hugged him, smiling as she replied, "Okay, I'll watch how you respect and love me."
Shen Jiazhou closed his eyes and hugged her tighter, his Adam's apple pressing against her neck: "Okay, you're welcome to supervise me."
From afar, Can Can saw his aunt and uncle hugging each other again, and he ran over and said, "I want to hug too."
The two loosened their grip a little, smiled at each other, pulled Can Can to the middle, and hugged him tightly.
Can Can was finally satisfied.
Wen Shuqiao couldn't help but comment, "A little jealous pot."
Shen Jiazhou nodded in strong agreement.
Wen Shuqiao then described him as "a big jealous pot".
Shen Jiazhou pursed his lips, but still reluctantly accepted it.
So what if he's a jealous person? He's a jealous person, so what!
He always kept his jealousy to himself at home, without interfering with any of Wen Shuqiao's decisions or actions!
After hugging for a while, Cake came running back with the frisbee in its mouth, gently placed the frisbee on the ground, and panted with its tongue sticking out.
Wen Shuqiao released the uncle and nephew and put the leash on the cake: "Let's go home."
It was completely dark, and the temperature had started to drop.
Can Can nodded and said, "I'll carry the cake!"
Wen Shuqiao handed the rope to Cancan, and Cancan pulled the cake home.
Wen Shuqiao turned to look at Shen Jiazhou, who was still sitting on the bench, smiled, and extended her hand to him: "Sir, it's time to go home."
Shen Jiazhou then moved, taking Wen Shuqiao's hand in return and smiling, "Yes, ma'am."
