Chapter 450 Wen Zhixia x Shen Jiachen (Twenty-Two)

After Shen Jiachen ordered the food, his gaze fell on Wen Zhixia across the table. Wen Zhixia was looking down at her phone, seemingly texting someone.

He thought for a moment and asked carefully, "Do you tutor every day?"

Wen Zhixia looked up and shook her head: "I have tutoring classes on regular weekends. Sometimes, if we happen to be free, we'll schedule a class. It's not a fixed schedule."

That day, Jasmine was at home with a cold, and since she didn't have class in the afternoon, we arranged to meet her there: "I usually only have part-time jobs in the evenings."

She got the part-time job at the coffee shop because she could come out in the evenings. She had four days off each month, and she could adjust her shifts if she needed to.

"It's good," Shen Jiachen said quietly. "It's quite fulfilling."

Wen Zhixia just smiled and didn't say anything more.

However, since Shen Jiachen had invited her to dinner, she didn't want the atmosphere to become awkward, so she directly threw the question back at him: "Do you really like sweets?"

"It's alright," Shen Jiachen said. "Didn't you say that if you're in a bad mood, you can eat something sweet to cheer yourself up?"

Wen Zhixia said "Oh," and then asked, "Have you been in a bad mood lately?"

Shen Jiachen looked at her, seemingly not understanding why she asked that question.

Wen Zhixia said, "I've been seeing you quite frequently at the store lately."

Shen Jiachen's eyes crinkled into a smile: "I'm not eating sweets because I'm in a bad mood lately. I've been in a good mood lately, and eating sweets makes me feel even better."

As he spoke, he slowly pushed the bowl and chopsticks he had just scalded in front of her. Wen Zhixia was taken aback, but Shen Jiachen had already naturally dragged another set of bowls and chopsticks in front of her with his fingers.

Shen Jiachen said, "You filmed that interview for National Day very well."

Wen Zhixia snapped out of her daze and said, "It's not that I took the photo well, it's that you're naturally beautiful."

Shen Jiachen looked up at her, and Wen Zhixia tilted her head slightly: "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I'm a little embarrassed," Shen Jiachen said. "You're being a bit too direct in praising people."

"I wasn't praising you, I was just stating the facts," Wen Zhixia said slowly. "Senior, you must hear compliments all the time, right? Why are you embarrassed?"

As they were talking, Shen Jiachen had already thoroughly scalded the bowls and chopsticks.

He replied, "Praise can be sincere or insincere."

Wen Zhixia raised her eyebrows slightly: "Hmm? I thought that what you saw was genuine."

"Zhixia." Shen Jiachen pursed his lips slightly. "Could you please not call me senior?"

“…Jiachen.” Wen Zhixia changed her address, but still couldn’t help asking, “You seem to care a lot about how you are addressed.”

Shen Jiachen's expression softened slightly after hearing Wen Zhixia call his name. He said, "At school, you can call many people 'senior,' but I'm the only one who calls myself Jiachen."

Wen Zhixia blinked, and Shen Jiachen added, "Besides, shouldn't we be considered friends? I've been calling you Zhixia, but you call me senior, which makes me feel like we're not very close."

They weren't actually that close, but Shen Jiachen just didn't want to admit it.

Whether you're familiar with someone or not, just chat a bit more and have a few meals together, and you'll become acquainted.

Wen Zhixia was quite surprised, but she quickly realized that it was just polite talk, like saying they would have dinner together next time.

She hummed in agreement: "Of course we're friends."

The waiter just served the food. The portions here are generous. Shen Jiachen ordered four dishes and a soup, which filled the whole table.

He heated up another pair of serving chopsticks and added fish to Wen Zhixia's plate, saying, "Eat more, you're so thin."

In summer, everyone wears less clothing, and Wen Zhixia usually wears T-shirts and long pants, but you can still feel that the clothes are a bit too big for her.

Shen Jiachen said, "Don't worry too much about losing weight."

Wen Zhixia glanced at him, then nodded without saying a word.

Shen Jiachen realized what was happening and quickly explained, "Hey, I didn't mean to preach... I meant the most important thing is health. It's not about being thin, it's just that eating more is good for your health."

He spoke softer and softer as he spoke, feeling a little annoyed. Why did he have to be so annoying as soon as he opened his mouth?

Shen Jiachen has been learning a lot lately, and the first thing he learned is not to preach for no reason.

Wen Zhixia remained silent. Did she feel that she was meddling in other people's business?

Shen Jiachen pursed his lips, lowered his eyes and thought about how to explain to Wen Zhixia. Just then, a pair of chopsticks reached out from the empty bowl in front of him and placed a piece of tender fish in his bowl.

He looked up at her again, and Wen Zhixia explained, "I actually eat quite a lot, but I jump around every day, so I burn off the calories quickly."

Shen Jiachen asked somewhat cautiously, "You're not angry?"

Wen Zhixia found Shen Jiachen a bit strange, but still said, "Why would I be angry?"

Shen Jiachen shook his head: "It's good that you're not angry."

He picked up the serving chopsticks again and put some food in Wen Zhixia's bowl: "Eat more, you should eat more."

Knowing that Wen Zhixia wasn't angry, Shen Jiachen felt much more relaxed.

After enthusiastically serving Wen Zhixia some food, he looked happily at the fish in his own bowl, which Wen Zhixia had served him.

Wen Zhixia took in all his reactions, poked at the food Shen Jiachen had picked up in her bowl with her chopsticks, and said, "You are quite different from the Shen Jiachen I've heard about."

"Hmm?" Shen Jiachen looked at her: "What did you hear me to be like?"

Wen Zhixia said, "They're not easy to approach; they have a distance between us."

She looked at Shen Jiachen and said sincerely, "But now I realize that you're quite nice." Quite cute, and a little clumsy, like a large Samoyed that smiles whenever it sees her.

Shen Jiachen couldn't help but smile and said, "I'm a little embarrassed by such high praise for me."

Wen Zhixia smiled and said, "Eat up."

Shen Jiachen hummed in agreement and began to eat his meal seriously.

Hmm, this restaurant actually makes pretty good fish. Looks like I can come here often in the future.

He thought for a moment, then glanced at Wen Zhixia a few times. Seeing that she was eating seriously, he silently added another sentence to his mind.

Ideally, you should come with Wen Zhixia.
