Chapter 456 Wen Zhixia x Shen Jiachen (Twenty-Seven)

Since she rejected his kindness that night, Wen Zhixia hadn't seen Shen Jiachen for several days.

However, she didn't have time to think about it too much. Recently, she had been busy working part-time at school and running back and forth. Wen Sisi would send her one or two messages every day, but Wen Zhixia didn't reply.

It wasn't that she didn't care; she privately asked the homeroom teacher to keep a close eye on Wen Sisi.

The homeroom teacher said that Wen Sisi has clearly shown more energy these past two days, and she might even improve her ranking a few places in the final mock exam at the end of the month.

It's good that nothing serious happened.

Wen Zhixia still didn't intend to pay attention to her, and just kept spinning around like a top.

In the blink of an eye, it's already October 20th.

Wen Zhixia and Ye Yao came out of the student council. Ye Yao said, "We'll be inviting a lot of alumni back for the school anniversary celebration next month. It's going to be very lively."

This year marks the 80th anniversary of University A. The student council started preparing for the anniversary celebrations this semester. However, Wen Zhixia and Ye Yao were only responsible for taking photos and recording videos, so they only had a proper meeting these past two days.

The school anniversary celebration will last for three days, from the 11th to the 13th.

Wen Zhixia definitely won't be able to go to her part-time job for the next three days; she needs to tell Sister Ningzhen in advance and ask for leave.

The two walked out together, and Ye Yao asked again, "By the way, Zhixia, how are things going between you and Yu Mingxue?"

"It's fine," Wen Zhixia said gently. "Mingxue is easy to get along with."

"It seems to be quite good, you're even called Mingxue now." Ye Yao's eyes curved into a smile: "I was worried that you were too soft-hearted and would be bullied by her."

Yu Mingxue's fighting prowess that night was evident to all. Ye Yao said, "It's good that we get along well. If you need any help, just let me know."

"Yes," Wen Zhixia said, "Definitely, definitely."

Ye Yao was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh right, oh right, I almost forgot about the final thing during the meeting."

"What?" Wen Zhixia stopped and looked at her. Ye Yao said, "My aunt works as a manager at a private club. She said she has a birthday party this Saturday and doesn't have enough staff, so she's planning to hire temporary workers."

Ye Yao held up five fingers: "A high-end private club, from 8 am to 9 pm, I'm planning to go, do you want to come with me?"

Wen Zhixia's eyes lit up: "Can you take me with you?"

"Of course I can," Ye Yao said. "When my aunt told me about it, I thought of you. But it has to be tonight, and you have a part-time job tonight. Can you go?"

“Sure, I have a vacation.” Wen Zhixia said, “Thank you, Ye Yao. I’ll treat you to a meal then.”

"No need. Even if you don't go, I'll find another classmate to go with. If you're really embarrassed, just use your employee benefits to bring me back a small cake. The small cake you gave me last time was really good." Ye Yao knew Wen Zhixia's family situation and smiled, her eyes crinkling. "I'll talk to my aunt, and we'll leave from school together on Saturday."

Wen Zhixia nodded: "Okay, thank you so much."

"Why are you being so polite between us? I have something to do, so I'll be going now. See you later."

"See you later."

After parting ways with Ye Yao, Wen Zhixia stood there for a while, thinking, before finally heading to the library to read some books.

The library was crowded at noon, and Wen Zhixia couldn't find a seat, so she simply picked up a book that interested her and sat down in a corner on the stairs.

She rarely has such a leisurely moment; she's so busy every day that she barely has time to think.

The phone, which was casually placed on her lap, lit up. Wen Zhixia's eyes were still on the book, but her hand deftly reached for the phone and opened it. When she opened WeChat, it lags for a while before it finally loads.

The phone is getting slower and slower. Wen Zhixia ran her fingers over the phone's body. This phone was bought when her mother was still alive.

She didn't know if she could hold out until the New Year. Wen Zhixia had been working hard at part-time jobs for the past two years, and with the occasional three or five hundred yuan that her aunts would give her, she had managed to save up a few tens of thousands of yuan.

However, this amount of money is far from enough. Wen Zhixia's tuition is completely waived, and she also receives scholarships. All she needs to do is study hard and maintain her grades.

But Wen Sisi is unlikely to be one of them.

Thinking of Wen Sisi, Wen Zhixia sighed again.

She didn't know what kind of spell Zhang Lei had cast on Wen Sisi. Wen Zhixia had even asked the homeroom teacher about Zhang Lei's grades, which were terrible, ranking last in the entire grade, to the point that it was questionable whether he could even get into university.

The message was still from Wen Sisi; she had a little time now, so she sent a message to Wen Zhixia.

This time, Wen Sisi posted a report card: "Sis, these are my exam results from the past two days. I improved by five places."

The daily routine of a senior high school student is nothing but exams, exams, exams. Wen Zhixia glanced at the document and saw that it was indeed much better than before.

But she still didn't reply.

Just as I was about to put my phone down, Wen Sisi sent me another message.

[Sister, I've really thought things through these past few days, and I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have said those things that day. Besides Mom, you're the person who loves me the most. I'm so sorry for hurting you. Can you forgive me? I've already broken up with him. I'll give you my phone when I go home this Saturday. I've already bought a basic cell phone with my allowance, and I'll be using it for classes from now on.]

Wen Zhixia felt a bit conflicted when she saw the message. She realized that her first reaction was to wonder if Wen Sisi was lying to her again.

She pursed her lips slightly, still pondering whether to go back, when Wen Sisi asked again: "Sister, are you going home this Saturday?"

After their argument last week, Wen Zhixia didn't go home on Saturday. She watched the security camera footage and saw that Wen Sisi came back carrying groceries, but didn't leave the house afterwards.
