Shen Jiachen snapped out of his daze, glanced at Shen Jiazhou, and chuckled, "What do I have to regret? Didn't you and I both foresee that the Shen family would fall to this state? Or do you regret it?"
"I don't regret it," Shen Jiazhou said. "The best decision I ever made was leaving the Shen family."
Shen Jiachen smiled and happened to see a flower shop not far away. He said to the driver, "Stop in front of the flower shop."
Shen Jiazhou looked at him, and Shen Jiachen said, "Your sister-in-law has been working hard taking care of Cancan these past two days. I'm going to buy a bouquet of flowers. Do you want to come along for some fresh air?"
Shen Jiazhou wasn't particularly interested in flowers, but there was a coffee shop next to the flower shop. He hadn't had a proper rest these past two days because of Old Master Shen's funeral.
It's 10 a.m. now, which is early before my bedtime, and I have a meeting in the afternoon.
Shen Jiazhou said, "I'm going downstairs to buy a cup of coffee. Do you want some?"
"No, I'll have some tea when we get back." Shen Jiachen patted his shoulder: "Drink less coffee, tea will keep you awake just as well."
Shen Jiazhou ignored him and walked into the coffee shop. There weren't many people in the coffee shop at the moment. He went to the counter and ordered an iced Americano.
After paying, he stood aside and waited.
Just then, the glass door was pushed open, and a girl with a ponytail hurriedly walked in from outside.
Shen Jiazhou glanced at it listlessly, but found himself unable to look away.
The girl walked toward the counter, and the tiny mole near the corner of her eye, though not very noticeable, attracted Shen Jiazhou's attention.
The girl noticed Shen Jiazhou's gaze, paused for a moment, and quickly looked away.
At the same time, Shen Jiazhou heard the clerk at the counter shout, "Shuqiao, come quick, I'm having a hard time!"
Wen Shuqiao pushed open the small door and walked into the control panel. She raised her voice slightly and said, "I'm here!"
Shu Qiao.
Shen Jiazhou silently recited the name; what a coincidence.
His gaze followed her figure. How strange, he clearly had never seen this girl before, yet he felt as if he should know her.
Because at this moment, his originally calm heart...
—The sound was as loud as beating a drum.
