Chapter 265 Oranges

Wen Shuqiao was startled by this audacious idea. Asking Shen Jiazhou to do… well… was simply unthinkable. How could someone like him possibly do such a thing…

Wen Shuqiao met Zhong Qi's curious eyes and explained, "He's not, and he wouldn't do that..."

Zhong Qi breathed a sigh of relief: "You scared me!"

She was terrified that Wen Shuqiao would say, "Yes, he is the mistress I keep outside."

Wen Shuqiao said, "I'm not married."

Zhong Qi's eyes widened: "Going to the father-son's place? That's so cool."

The more she talked, the more outrageous it became. Afraid that she would overthink it, Wen Shuqiao quickly explained, "I don't have any children. The child I'm raising is my nephew. The person you saw that day was the child's uncle."

Wen Shuqiao gave a brief explanation of her relationship with Shen Jiazhou, and Zhong Qi understood after listening: "I see."

However, once the news of her marriage came out, Wen Shuqiao really didn't have any unwanted suitors approaching her anymore. Especially after they saw her "brother-in-law," they would tell everyone how handsome he was, and now no one was even bothering to get close to Wen Shuqiao.

But I never expected that my "brother-in-law" wasn't actually my brother-in-law.

Zhong Qi thought back to that day; her "brother-in-law's" happiness that day didn't seem like an act...

She glanced at Wen Shuqiao, suppressing her doubts, and assured him, "I'll keep this a secret for you. I also can't stand those men who act like they're all that when they see a pretty girl."

"Thank you." Wen Shuqiao's eyes crinkled into a smile. "As for the customer-stealing issue, talk to the person in charge. If all else fails, contact President Xie. They can always resolve it."

In fact, they both knew in their hearts that this matter would probably be resolved by making a big deal out of nothing.

Zhong Qi sighed, nodded, and remained downcast.

The filming plan fell through, and with nothing else to do, Wen Shuqiao went to a class. By the time class ended, Zhong Qi had already left.

She asked about it, and it seemed that her supervisor told her to keep quiet about it, simply because they were all colleagues in the same studio.

Wen Shuqiao understood and left the studio.

After going downstairs, he sent another message to Zhong Qi.

Zhong Qi replied quickly, saying, "Sister Shu Qiao, I'm already home! I can't have dinner with you; I want to think about it myself."

After replying with a pat-on-the-head emoji, Wen Shuqiao put her phone back in her pocket.

This is something she can only think about herself.

Wen Shuqiao went to Emerald Courtyard and returned home at 3 p.m.

She was about to unlock the door with her fingerprint when it was pushed open from the inside. Startled, she quickly took a step back, thinking that no one should be home at this hour. Shen Jiazhou was at work, Aunt Zhang wouldn't arrive until four o'clock, and Cancan was at kindergarten...

The moment my guard was raised, I saw Shen Jiazhou come out of the house.

Shen Jiazhou was also taken aback when he saw her, and asked, "Why are you back so early today?"

Wen Shuqiao relaxed and said, "Something came up. What about you? Why did you suddenly come back?"

Shen Jiazhou pursed his lips slightly: "The old man was so angry that he was hospitalized and called me to go and see him."

"What happened?" Wen Shuqiao was a little surprised. When she last met Mr. Shen at dinner, he was in high spirits.

Shen Jiazhou had already come out of the house. He said with a hint of helplessness, "I don't know. I'll find out when I get there."

He looked at Wen Shuqiao: "Do you want to go?"

"Hmm?" Wen Shuqiao pointed to herself: "Is it inappropriate for me to go?"

“There’s nothing inappropriate about it,” Shen Jiazhou said. “You’re Can Can’s aunt. Can Can is busy with kindergarten right now, so it’s perfectly normal for you to go.”

Wen Shuqiao hesitated for a moment before finally nodding at Shen Jiazhou's expression, "Let's go together then. I'll wait for you in the car, and we'll pick up Cancan right away when we're done."

Shen Jiazhou nodded: "Let's go."

Wen Shuqiao followed Shen Jiazhou downstairs again.

The hospital where Mr. Shen was staying was a well-known private hospital in the area. It only took Shen Jiazhou about twenty minutes to drive there.

He parked the car and looked at Wen Shuqiao again: "Are you really not going up?"

Wen Shuqiao shook her head: "I'll wait for you here. Just... be careful."

Being hospitalized due to anger is definitely a serious matter; it's either related to the Shen family or the Shen Corporation. Whatever it is, it's quite difficult to handle.

"Don't worry." Shen Jiazhou unbuckled his seatbelt and rolled the car window down a little. "I'm absolutely calm."

Wen Shuqiao nodded: "Go ahead."

Shen Jiazhou took a deep breath, got out of the car, and walked towards the elevator.

He pressed the elevator button, then turned to look at the parked car. Wen Shuqiao waved to him from inside the car.

Shen Jiazhou withdrew his gaze and stepped into the elevator.

Since leaving the Shen family, Shen Jiazhou has never returned. He also removed the SIM card he had used and didn't reinstall it, so no one else in the Shen family could contact him.

It was only when the call came from Mr. Shen's housekeeper that he learned that Mr. Shen was hospitalized.

He probably knew the reason for the hospitalization: Uncle Shen had taken the position of president, but the others were definitely not happy about it. They made a huge fuss with Old Master Shen and tried to trip up Uncle Shen both openly and secretly.

But Uncle Shen was no pushover either. He used all sorts of excuses to dismiss the relatives who had just returned to the Shen family, and everyone took the matter to Old Master Shen.

Mr. Shen's health had been poor for the past two years, and this incident landed him in the hospital.

Shen Jiazhou went upstairs, and as soon as he approached the door, he heard arguing coming from inside, as well as the butler's voice trying to mediate.

After listening for a while, Shen Jiazhou patiently knocked on the door, and the arguing inside stopped. He pushed the door open and went in. Apart from his second uncle's family, everyone else had come.
