Chapter 56: Unbearable Blame
There were only four people left on the stage, but they had become numb from the excessive consumption and fighting and had lost hope. They even showed signs of passive resistance.
"The one who survives can leave." Pei Yuezhou's voice floated down from the high platform. It was not loud, but it had a strange penetrating power and was wrapped in honey-like gentleness. "I mean what I say."
He even leaned forward slightly, revealing half of his graceful neck, with a faint smile on his lips and false compassion in his beautiful eyes, as if he was sincerely pointing them to a way out.
A brief hesitation flashed across their eyes, and soon turned into fists hitting each other, each move was brutal and aimed directly at the vital points.
Pei Yuezhou watched intently, his fingertips gently rubbing his cheek.
The smile in those beautiful peach blossom eyes became softer, but there was a damp and cold shadow at the bottom of the eyes, like a pond of water that had been accumulated for years, deep and bottomless.
Finally, the three of them fell down and never stood up again.
The surviving one was covered in wounds, his chest heaving violently. He staggered to his feet, and his eyes, looking towards the platform, were a mixture of relief at having survived the disaster, fear of death, and a faint glimmer of hope.
He held onto the railing and walked down the ring step by step. Every step he took was in the blood of himself and his brothers, leaving a series of crooked red marks.
Just as his feet touched the ground below the ring—
"Bang!"
The gunshot rang out suddenly, dully hitting the air in the arena.
The man's body jolted violently, and the expression on his face froze instantly. He lowered his head, staring at the bloodstains on his chest, his eyes shifting from bewilderment to disbelief.
He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he just stumbled and fell heavily to the ground, splashing blood.
On the high platform, Pei Yuezhou slowly lowered his hand holding the gun. Smoke was still coming out of the barrel, and he didn't even look at the body that had just fallen.
"I was just kidding you guys, why did you take it so seriously?"
He sat back in his chair, the gentle smile in his eyes still there, but the darkness deep inside was thicker, like cold and damp moss that had just been soaked by rain, sticky and dangerous.
"Go pull up the fighting slaves from the black fighting arena and continue."
He spoke, his voice still calm, even with a hint of morbid joy.
Lin Zhi had no doubts and did as he was told.
Song Nuan, who was in the dark, was so angry after receiving the black card from her younger brother that her face almost twisted: "He bought it out with money? This is a joke. How can I do business in the future!"
I didn't dare to say a word.
[I told you to contact Yu Zhi, but you didn't listen, right?]
"Use your brain, will you? In this situation, Yu Zhi coming here is just a trap for her!"
"Hmph! If you don't contact me, I'll do it myself. I worked so hard to build this kingdom, but now it seems to be about to be taken away by someone. Are we not going to complete our mission?"
Two black lines suddenly appeared on Song Nuan's forehead: "You'd better not be so rebellious."
【I don't want to listen to the turtle chanting. 】
Song Nuan's fists stiffened instantly, but he felt powerless as if he couldn't hit anyone no matter how hard he tried.

The roar and fighting in the audience continued.
Pei Yuezhou on the platform felt a little sleepy. He sank deep into the wide seat, his shoulders slumped slightly, and the hand that was originally supporting his cheek slid down and rested loosely on the armrest at his side.
Her head was tilted to one side, with the loose hair in front of her forehead hanging down, covering half of her beautiful peach blossom eyes.
He was sleeping soundly, his breathing was light and shallow, his chest rising and falling slightly with each breath, with a kind of utterly relaxed laziness.
It was as if the place beneath him was not a blood-stained fighting arena, but a rattan chair in his own yard, and the blood and screams around him were nothing more than the chirping of cicadas on a summer afternoon.
It was noisy, but it didn't prevent him from sleeping.
The winner was decided at some point in the audience. The winner dragged his broken leg and looked towards the stage, screaming. There was still madness in his eyes, and he still held on to a glimmer of delusion that he could escape.
But when he looked over, he only saw the man sleeping soundly with his head tilted, without even his eyelashes trembling.
Lin Zhi ordered his men to continue expressionlessly, as if he had dealt with similar situations many times before.
But this game did not last until dawn as he expected, because Lin Zhi suddenly received the news that Yu Zhi was coming. He hesitated again and again, but still went forward to wake Pei Yuezhou up.
"Sir, the lady is here."
The irritation in Pei Yuezhou's eyes, which was caused by someone disturbing his sweet dream, disappeared instantly.
His sharp gaze immediately fell on Lin Zhi: "You shouted?"
Lin Zhi quickly defended himself, "No, no! I don't know where the madam got the information from!"
I swear to God, he has the heart but not the courage.
Pei Yuezhou did not stand up immediately. Instead, he lowered his eyes to look at his hand on the armrest, and his fingertips paused for a moment beside the remaining edge of the carved metal.
Then, as if accidentally, he suddenly scratched the sharp edge with the palm of his hand.
Turning over his hand, the bloody wound had clearly split open, and blood was dripping down through the fingers.
He slowly grasped the wound with his other hand, not with much force, but enough to make the blood continue to seep out.
Then she leaned back in her chair, frowned slightly, and let her long eyelashes droop, hiding the emotions in her eyes, leaving only half of her pale face in the shadows, revealing a bit of fragility.
The footsteps came closer and closer, and when Yu Zhi appeared at the entrance of the platform, she saw him in this state.
"Ayue!" Yu Zhi's voice was full of panic. She came to the man's side in a few steps. "Why is your hand injured like this?"
When Yu Zhi heard the news Xiaoshui brought over, she didn't dare to stay for a moment. She couldn't understand why he came to such a smoky and dirty place for no reason?
All kinds of people gather here, and you can run into danger if you're not careful.
This is pure nonsense!
Yu Zhi frowned and looked at Lin Zhi, as if questioning something.
Lin Zhi, the worker, swallowed his saliva with a look of misery on his face and didn't dare to say anything.
It’s none of my business. It’s all your husband’s fault.
Yu Zhi reached out to touch it, but was afraid of hurting Pei Yuezhou, so she could only look at the wound anxiously.
Pei Yuezhou had already raised his head, his eyes quickly covered with tears, and his long eyelashes trembled wetly, as if he had suffered great injustice.
"Zhizhi..." His voice was hoarse and tearful, with the ending tone slightly rising, like a small animal whose tail was stepped on, "It hurts."
The pair of eyes that were originally filled with gloom were now filled with fragility and dependence. They looked at her with red circles, so beautiful that it made people's hearts tighten.
All of a sudden, Yu Zhi couldn't utter any words of blame, and the bodies on the ring below had already been cleaned up by Lin Zhi in time, and only residual bloodstains could be seen.
His pitiful behavior was out of place in this bloody arena, but strangely, it made Yu Zhi's worries overshadow all her doubts.
I think this guy just came here for some novelty and learned how to bet from others.
Forget it, I’ll educate him properly later.
Yu Zhi sighed helplessly and could only speak to comfort him: "Okay, okay, go home and treat your wound first."
"Yeah." Pei Yuezhou moved his face closer to her hand and rubbed his nose against her sleeve.
From Song Nuan's angle, she just happened to see the dark light flash across his eyes.
Song Nuan, who was ready to rescue Yu Zhi at any time, was now petrified on the ground and had serious doubts about his life.
Is this really a person?!
He has a split personality!
Is this what they call a strong histrionic personality?
Song Nuan closed her eyes tiredly.
What a lunatic.
