Chapter 32 A shirtless man...
That evening, they left the Mecca restaurant one after the other.
Liang Kongxiang's shadow fell obliquely on the ground, and Jiang Jiaoming stepped on her shadow as he darted along Clanta Street.
The road surface was rough, with gravel and sand, and two pairs of feet made a rustling sound as they stepped on it.
In high school, they walked this same path home after school. Liang Kongxiang stared blankly at her toes, lost in thought. Almost ten years had passed in the blink of an eye. High school, university, Songjin City, Gongtai City, Xisa Port, love, breakup, reunion—she and the man beside her had been entangled for so long.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Jiang Jiaoming suddenly reached out and blocked her way.
Liang Kongxiang was forced to pause, glanced at him, and walked around him, asking, "What did you say?"
Liang Kongxiang was already used to Jiang Jiaoming's attention-seeking behavior. After walking for a while, she didn't hear any footsteps following her. When she turned around, the dimly lit street was empty. She didn't know where Jiang Jiaoming had gone.
The next morning, my phone was buzzing on my pillow.
Liang Kongxiang was woken up by the vibration. She had just opened her eyes when her phone pinged again. She reached over to turn off the alarm, then sat up and walked to the bathroom, glancing at the messages.
Several text messages were sent by Jiang Jiaoming.
Last night at 11:36 PM, the doctor said everything was fine.
00:45 AM [Image]
It was a mirror photo of him shirtless, his expression indifferent, his features sharp and defined, his eyes staring directly at the camera in the mirror. Water dripped from his forehead, sliding down his face, down his chest muscles, and onto his lean waist, where droplets of water clung. A white bath towel hung loosely around his waist, barely visible...
Liang Kongxiang looked away, placed her phone on the empty spot on the sink, squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush, and looked down at the two messages that followed.
Jiang Jiaoming: [Don't get the wrong idea, I just want you to confirm that I don't have a rash.]
5:30 AM [I need to go back to Gongtai]
She glanced at the time, absentmindedly brushing her teeth in front of the mirror, her mouth full of white foam as she walked into the room and opened the window to let in some fresh air, without turning back to Jiang Jiaoming.
After quickly washing up and getting ready, my phone rang again on my way to the film set.
Jiang Jiaoming: [Ignoring me?]
Liang Kongxiang typed: [On set.]
No further messages came from them.
The crew worked methodically all day long. Filming time passed quickly. Everyone would rehearse, look at the script, and chat, and the day would be over.
These past few days, I haven't finished filming until before 4 PM. After filming, I can go back and catch up on some sleep, and when I have the energy, I can even go sightseeing in the surrounding area.
Before sunset, Liang Kongxiang and Cao Lengyu arranged to take a walk together in the woods near the film set, carrying their cameras. In the middle of the woods was a shallow lake, with loosely arranged bald cypress trees rooted in it. A wooden boat used by the film crew for shooting was on the lake, but Liang Kongxiang was not a good swimmer and did not dare to row alone.
They walked around the woods, along the edge of the wetland, and saw a tall, sturdy tree in the distance.
"Is it an oak tree?" Liang Kongxiang asked Cao Lengyu.
She squinted. On a green lawn stood a giant tree, estimated to be over thirty meters tall, with a grayish-brown trunk and lush foliage. It appeared to be an oak tree.
“Yes,” Cao Lengyu said, glancing at the document to confirm. She put her forearm on Liang Kongxiang’s left shoulder, looked down, and stepped into the mud that was starting to become uneven. “Let’s get a little closer before the sun sets.”
“This distance is alright,” Liang Kongxiang said after walking for a while. She estimated that the shooting effect at this location should be good, so she stopped. “Let’s shoot here.”
The sun shone from behind them, casting long shadows of the two women and the oak tree on the orange-red grass. A gentle breeze blew, and the dark shadows of the branches and leaves began to sway softly from side to side on the ground.
After taking a wide shot, the two continued walking. The setting sun moved faster than them. By the time they reached the oak tree, the last rays of sunlight on the meadow had already disappeared below the horizon. The air around them cooled down, enveloping their exposed skin like summer well water.
Jays circled overhead, and Cao Lengyu patted the sturdy trunk, his hands covered in dust. After wiping his hands clean, he judged, "It must be about two hundred years old."
Liang Kongxiang sat down cross-legged on the spot, not minding the dirt, with her head and back pressed against the tree trunk, her eyes closed, quietly enjoying the breeze.
"You've come here to sleep?" Cao Lengyu chuckled and sat down next to her. "Why haven't I seen President Jiang these past few days? Did you two have another argument?"
“No,” Liang Kongxiang said, “he went back to Gongtai.”
“Old lovers are great; they can become lovers or old friends.” Cao Lengyu joked, “No official title or status, but they report their whereabouts.”
Liang Kongxiang smiled but didn't say anything. An old lover is more like a fishbone; it hurts whether you swallow it or pull it out.
Just as Cao Lengyu was about to say something, her phone buzzed in her back pocket. She took it out, saw the caller ID, and was slightly surprised. Her gaze fell on the caller's name, and she called out to Liang Kongxiang, "Look who's calling."
"Who?" She kept her eyes closed, her tone indifferent, seemingly not very curious.
Cao Lengyu answered the call and pressed speakerphone, "Hello?"
"Director Cao," the person opposite greeted him, with a touch of intellectual gentleness, "How have you been lately?"
That sound...
Liang Kongxiang frowned and slowly opened her eyes. She turned her head to look at the call interface, and sure enough, it displayed the name Zhuang Yexue.
What did she call Cao Lengyu for?
Cao Lengyu, with her knees bent and elbows resting on them while holding her phone, chatted casually, "Busy filming, what about you? How come you have time to call me?"
"Just finished filming and came out to relax. I heard you were also in Xisa Port, so I came to visit the set."
Cao Lengyu and Liang Kongxiang exchanged a glance. She was well-informed; the filming locations for this movie were kept secret, yet she seemed to know everything about them.
Cao Lengyu jokingly said, "I'm so famous that people are selling my schedule online."
"You're quite famous in the industry, and I overheard someone mention it at the dinner table," Zhuang Yexue joked. "Is it because you don't welcome me, Director Cao?"
"No way, we've known each other for so many years," Cao Lengyu said. "When are you coming? I'll pick you up from the airport."
"No need, just send me your location. It's too much trouble to make the trip," Zhuang Yexue said. "I'll arrive tomorrow afternoon."
"Okay, I'll wait for you to have dinner," Cao Lengyu said politely before hanging up the phone.
Liang Kongxiang was still lost in thought with her eyes downcast when Cao Lengyu snapped her fingers in front of her face and leaned closer, asking knowingly, "What are you thinking about?"
"I'm thinking about why she came," Liang Kongxiang said. It was getting darker, so she stood up, patted her back, and said, "Let's go."
Cao Lengyu put her phone back in her pocket and stretched: "Anyway, it's not that simple."
Liang Kongxiang reached out and pulled Cao Lengyu up. Cao Lengyu stood up and the two went back the way they came.
On the way, Liang Kongxiang was still thinking about Zhuang Yexue's arrival.
People don't visit temples without a reason, especially not in such a remote place that it's hard to find even on a map.
She made a guess. What could Zhuang Yexue possibly want by calling Director Cao? Did she want to film her movie? But her contract probably didn't allow her to take on roles privately, especially not Cao Lengyu's. Or was she trying to use Cao Lengyu's connection to get in touch with someone she knew? That didn't seem very plausible either; with Zhuang Yexue's status and background, there were very few people she couldn't talk to…
“Maybe he came for President Jiang too,” Cao Lengyu glanced at Liang Kongxiang and teased her, “You two have quite a few suitors, each with their own.”
Liang Kongxiang hadn't really thought of that, and smiled helplessly, "It shouldn't be that bad."
“Why not?” Cao Lengyu said, “President Jiang has been staying here for a week, and everyone is speculating about the reason… You didn’t see the post, and I doubt Chen Yun would show it to you either. Guess what she said.”
"Sister Chen won't let me see it, aren't you afraid it will affect me?" Liang Kongxiang asked with a smile.
They reached a muddy area again, and it was dark so they couldn't see clearly. Liang Kongxiang held up a flashlight, and she and Cao Lengyu supported each other's forearms as they walked slowly, watching the path beneath their feet.
“You are one of the rare people I’ve met who are not easily swayed by others,” Cao Lengyu said meaningfully as they walked through the area, “but there’s one who slipped through the net.”
Both of them knew perfectly well who this "fish that slipped through the net" referred to.
Cao Lengyu looked at her, shook her head and clicked her tongue: "That's fine too. It's more interesting when you throw a tantrum now and then."
"Are you usually boring?"
"It's fine once we get to know each other. When I first met you, I thought you were quite aloof." Cao Lengyu was referring to the time at the coffee shop, but she was used to being aloof and didn't realize that she was even more aloof than Cao Lengyu back then. She asked curiously, "What did you do when you were dating him?"
Liang Kongxiang found the question amusing and replied with a nonsensical remark: "Doing those things that couples do."
Cao Lengyu imagined it to herself for a while, and a large patch of goosebumps rose on her arms. She stopped asking.
Ahead lay a cornfield. The path, now softened by the dew that had condensed overnight, was soft. Liang Kongxiang walked behind Cao Lengyu, and the two of them passed through it one after the other. After a while, they arrived at the apartment.
She had just opened the door and taken off her shoes when her phone beeped. She almost suspected that Jiang Jiaoming had installed a surveillance camera in the room, so that she would receive a message from him the moment she opened her eyes and again the moment she returned to the room.
Liang Kongxiang rinsed her feet and calves in her flip-flops, turned off the water, and opened her text message interface. A string of unread messages popped up with a number that had no name in the contact. She knew without even trying that the number belonged to Jiang Jiaoming.
Have you had dinner yet?
【picture】
She clicked on it. It was a subtle, candid shot, only capturing the leftover steamed fish on the round table and the wristwatch on the cuff of the man's suit next to her. The man had half a scarlet cigarette butt between his fingers, with a wisp of white smoke drifting down from the cigarette butt.
Liang Kongxiang didn't recognize which investor this was, nor did she guess what kind of dinner party it was, so she replied, "I ate."
Jiang Jiaoming immediately asked, "What did you eat?"
Liang Kongxiang: [Wouldn't it be clearer to ask the producer?]
Jiang Jiaoming: [I just like asking you, "So what?"]
Liang Kongxiang chuckled. "Are you planning to give me two salaries?"
Jiang Jiaoming sent a QR code to his WeChat contact: "Ms. Liang, we're not even friends, so I don't know where to send this."
Liang Kongxiang saved the picture, but didn't add the caption "I'm taking a shower."
She had already grabbed her pajamas, but unconsciously stood in front of the mirror holding her phone for about ten minutes. After sending the message, she put her phone on the sink cabinet, and sure enough, she heard it chime again.
After she finished washing her hair, she sat down on the sofa and glanced at the messages.
It was posted by Jiang Jiaoming.
Liang Kongxiang frowned slightly after reading it, then flipped her phone over to cover it: "What kind of nonsense is this..."
She lowered the air conditioner temperature by five degrees, sat on the sofa lost in thought for two minutes, then lowered it by two more degrees. The heat and restlessness she felt finally subsided somewhat. She sighed and deleted the message Jiang Jiaoming had just sent.
The next morning, as soon as she opened her eyes, the message notification rang right after the alarm clock. Liang Kongxiang guessed that it was probably another one of Jiang Jiaoming's trivial questions, such as "Have you eaten?" or "What time did you finish filming today?"
She replied to him after washing up, but when she checked her phone, she found he had made a slight improvement today; he had texted, "I'm going back to Sissa Port tonight, come pick me up."
"Send me your flight information," Liang Kongxiang replied, then went to the film set immediately after having breakfast.
We took a short break during the afternoon filming.
Cao Lengyu whispered, "She'll be here soon."
"Are you coming to the film set?" Liang Kongxiang asked.
“She said she was visiting the set, but she wouldn’t actually come,” Cao Lengyu said. “There are too many people around here, so it’s impossible for her to actually come. She said she was going to treat me to dinner and asked me to recommend a restaurant, so I just said Mecca and sent her the location.”
Liang Kongxiang glanced at the time, "Then there's still time to go back and catch up on some sleep before heading over."
"We agreed on 7:30, that's plenty of time." Cao Lengyu asked, "Are you going?"
“What would I do there?” Liang Kongxiang smiled. “She’s not exactly a good talker, and she’s also quite reserved. It would be rather awkward.”
A few seconds later, Liang Kongxiang said, "Jiang Jiaoming will land at seven o'clock tonight."
Cao Lengyu clicked her tongue. "Alright then." She changed the subject. "But did you ask President Jiang if he knows that Zhuang Yexue is coming?"
"I most likely don't know."
Although Liang Kongxiang used careful words, her tone sounded inexplicably confident. Cao Lengyu asked, "How so?"
“If he knew beforehand, he would have texted me in advance,” Liang Kongxiang explained.
Jiang Jiaoming didn't hide anything from her, especially when it came to their sensitive relationship. Perhaps he understood the pain of jealousy all too well, so he was very timely in reporting these things. In the past, whenever someone asked for his contact information, he would immediately show his plain ring and say that he had a girlfriend. Afterwards, he would ask her for a reward, pushing his luck to explore new avenues. She would occasionally soften and indulge him in doing so in front of the mirror or the French windows.
Cao Lengyu raised an eyebrow slightly: "You trust him that much? Now you're playing the telepathy trick."
"You said it, it's an essential skill for old flames."
After finishing work, Liang Kongxiang went home and took a nap. She slept very well; the curtains were drawn, and the room was dimly lit. She glanced at the time—6:29—the alarm clock was still a minute away.
The car sped along and stopped at the airport entrance. Liang Kongxiang got out of the car just after seven o'clock.
My phone vibrated; this time it was a WeChat notification.
She unlocked the app and frowned when she saw the note.
Zhuo Qiyun [Guess where I am? (No prize)]
Zhuo Qiyun: [Guess who I met on the plane?]
Almost instantly, a cold face appeared in Liang Kongxiang's mind. She stared at the two lines of text sent by Zhuo Qiyun, her mouth slightly agape as she pondered. She typed three words and then deleted them, switched to the text messaging interface, found Jiang Jiaoming's chat box, and before she could even start typing, he sent her a message.
Jiang Jiaoming: [Wait for me at Gate Two.]
Liang Kongxiang asked, "Did you run into Zhuo Qiyun?"
Jiang Jiaoming: [What, are you planning to abandon me?]
Here we go again. Ignoring Jiang Jiaoming's imagined scenario, Liang Kongxiang switched to WeChat and replied to Zhuo Qiyun: "Did they come to see me?"
Zhuo Qiyun seemed to be constantly monitoring the message interface, replying very quickly: "Yes! How are you so smart? I came with Geng Jiali, and guess who I ran into on the plane!"
Before Liang Kongxiang could figure out what to say, Zhuo Qiyun answered on her own, "Jiang Jiaoming! My god, I'm starting to suspect that Geng Jiali bought his flight information... How could we run into each other like this?"
Geng Jiali also came over.
Liang Kongxiang was somewhat surprised by their synchronized arrival. First, Zhuang Yexue came over with unclear intentions, then Zhuo Qiyun and Geng Jiali followed closely behind. The former claimed to be catching up with Cao Lengyu, while the latter was undoubtedly using the pretext of visiting her on set. She didn't quite believe it was a coincidence.
At least one of them is not.
With her head down, she was about to send a message to urge Jiang Jiaoming to avoid running into Zhuo Qiyun and the others and having trouble explaining herself. Before her thumb could even hit the keyboard, her phone was suddenly snatched away, leaving her hands empty.
Liang Kongxiang's hands were still half-raised in front of her chest, and she subconsciously looked up at the person in front of her.
He was wearing a dark suit that accentuated his upright posture, making him look like he had just come from a film festival. His sleeves were casually rolled up a little, revealing a section of his wrist with distinct knuckles. He was openly glancing at her chat window with someone else while holding the phone he had snatched.
"If we don't leave now, they'll see us." After scanning the phone and confirming it wasn't some random man, Jiang Jiaoming handed it back to her.
As soon as he finished speaking, the rumbling of the suitcase wheels, mixed with the incessant arguing of Zhuo Qiyun and Geng Jiali, drifted over from not far away, growing clearer and clearer.
Zhuo Qiyun: "Why don't you just go find Kong Xiang and spend the night with her? I already told you that the hotel is haunted. If you want to go, go alone."
Geng Jiali: "Did they welcome you? Did you ask their opinion?"
Zhuo Qiyun chuckled and said, "Not everyone is as selfish as you. When you used to hang your clothes in the dorm and take up my spot, why didn't you ever think to ask for my opinion?"
Geng Jiali said sarcastically, "You're much better at bringing up old grievances than you are at acting."
Zhuo Qiyun's pupils shrank sharply. She stammered "You, you, you," still furious. Standing there, she glared at Geng Jiali and offered a powerful blessing: "I hope you get eaten by a ghost tonight! It's the worst luck I've ever had to come out with you!"
The two were so engrossed in their argument that they didn't even notice where they were going. Liang Kongxiang was still pondering how to probe their purpose for coming—whether to greet them now or observe them from the shadows first before making a decision…
She looked over Jiang Jiaoming's shoulder and saw them walking this way. Suddenly, Jiang Jiaoming turned to the side, blocking her view. All she could see was his broad chest. Her gaze moved upward and met his direct, burning eyes.
Before she could even speak, Jiang Jiaoming suddenly embraced her tightly from the front, pressing her head against his chest.
“You…” Liang Kongxiang was stunned, not knowing what he was up to. Just as she was about to push him away, she saw two pairs of feet getting closer and closer to her out of the corner of her eye, and the sound of suitcase wheels rolling was close to her ear.
It's stopped.
"President Jiang... Kong Xiang?!" Zhuo Qiyun, wearing a pair of black round-framed glasses, pushed them up and perched them on her head, glaring at the embracing couple. Her right hand instinctively reached to cover Geng Jiali's eyes, but before it could touch her face, Geng Jiali irritably slapped it away.
With a crisp snap, Zhuo Qiyun didn't curse. Instead, she obediently rubbed her reddened hand, looking dazed.
Liang Kongxiang pushed Jiang Jiaoming away and glanced at him with a slight frown.
When he wasn't angry with her, it was fine, but when he was, Jiang Jiaoming seemed even more excited. He raised his eyebrows at her out of Geng Jiali and Zhuo Qiyun's sight, seemingly pleased with something. Then he turned around and greeted them, "What a coincidence."
“Yes, Mr. Jiang,” Zhuo Qiyun said with bright eyes. After greeting Jiang Jiaoming, she immediately said to Liang Kongxiang, “I was just about to video call you, but I didn’t expect to see you in person.”
She wisely didn't mention what she had just witnessed. Anyone could guess what it was; there was no need to ask.
The driver's car circled back and stopped next to them. Seeing that there were two women standing next to the boss, Liang Kongxiang raised her chin, indicating that he should help move the luggage to the trunk.
She opened the back door and let Zhuo Qiyun and the others go in first: "Why didn't you tell me beforehand? I could have come to pick you up after I finished filming."
"It's a surprise." Zhuo Qiyun didn't stand on ceremony. After saying that, she got in first. Geng Jiali didn't look too good. She stood outside the car and didn't intend to get in. Zhuo Qiyun tugged at her, but Geng Jiali shook off her hand, frowned, got in the car, sat in the middle, took off her mask, and greeted Liang Kongxiang: "Qiao."
Liang Kongxiang noticed that she was in low spirits, so she simply nodded and didn't bother with any pleasantries. Just as she was about to get into the car, her little finger was suddenly hooked, and a feather-like thing floated up and disappeared in a second.
She paused as she bent down to get into the car, then turned her head to the side.
Jiang Jiaoming leaned against the half-open passenger door, one hand casually resting on the top edge of the door, looking at her indifferently.
Liang Kongxiang said helplessly in a low voice, "Aren't you hungry? Let's talk about it when we get back."
Seeing that Liang Kongxiang was still not getting into the car, Zhuo Qiyun peeked out from beside Geng Jiali and asked, "Kongxiang, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing," she replied, then patted Jiang Jiaoming's arm lightly before getting into the car and closing the door.
As soon as she sat down, Jiang Jiaoming also got in and fastened his seatbelt. The two looked at each other in the rearview mirror. His gaze was like a wet, sticky liquid. Liang Kongxiang smiled.
All four windows in the car were half-open, letting in a rush of cool air. Zhuo Qiyun took a deep breath and exclaimed in despair, "Why didn't I come sooner...?"
"That's true, traveling is much more comfortable than staying at home doing nothing," Geng Jiali replied casually.
"Are you out of your mind?" Zhuo Qiyun choked for two seconds, unable to bear it any longer, but she didn't scold her because Geng Jiali had introduced her to a few dramas. "I can't be bothered to argue with you."
Geng Jiali snorted coldly, closed her eyes, and leaned back in her seat. To her left was the chattering Zhuo Qiyun, to her right was the silent Liang Kongxiang, and in front of her was the capitalist who had rejected her. The car was stuffy and uncomfortable no matter where she moved.
"I'm starving," Zhuo Qiyun said, rolling up the car window and opening her phone to search for nearby restaurants. As she scrolled through the recommendations, she asked Liang Kongxiang, "Are there any good restaurants around here?"
Liang Kongxiang unlocked the phone and glanced at the time.
Cao Lengyu and Zhuang Yexue have probably just set off for the Mecca Restaurant. Regardless of whether these two groups are doing it intentionally or not, it's always good to test the waters.
She said thoughtfully, "I eat a lot of meals on set, so I don't know much about it. You can ask General Manager Jiang."
"Oh, is that so?" Zhuo Qiyun was so eager for food that she didn't care about anything else at the moment. She leaned forward slightly and asked Jiang Jiaoming, "Does Mr. Jiang have any recommendations?"
Liang Kongxiang and Jiang Jiaoming's eyes met again in the rearview mirror. For several seconds, neither of them looked away. Jiang Jiaoming narrowed his eyes and then said, "Let's go to the Mecca Restaurant."
She turned her head to look at Zhuo Qiyun and said casually, "It's not bad."
The two were exchanging pleasantries, but Zhuo Qiyun and Geng Jiali didn't notice. Zhuo Qiyun searched for the restaurant name on her phone. "Seafood, looks alright," she nudged Geng Jiali with her elbow and showed her the phone screen. "Do you want some?"
The car was already dark, and when Geng Jiali opened her eyes to the blindingly bright light, her eyes were stung for a second, and her temples started to hurt. She frowned and said dismissively, "Whatever."
Zhuo Qiyun rolled her eyes and said to Liang Kongxiang with a grin, "This is it!"
"Okay." Liang Kongxiang smiled.
She had just sent a message to Cao Lengyu while Zhuo Qiyun and Geng Jiali were arguing, telling her to bring Zhuang Yexue to the downstairs of the Mecca Restaurant around 7:30 and not to go upstairs for a while.
Jiang Jiaoming glanced at his unresponsive phone, clicked his tongue, covered the phone, rested his elbow on the car window, and looked at the receding scenery.
Five seconds later, Jiang Jiaoming's phone beeped.
He flipped it over to unlock it.
Kong Xiang [Come to my room tonight]
Tsk.
He glanced at the rearview mirror and saw Liang Kongxiang tilting her head to reminisce with Zhuo Qiyun. Her low ponytail hung down her back, and a few strands of hair on the side of her face were blown about by the wind.
I wanted to help her tuck it behind her ear.
With that thought in mind, he turned slightly to the side and reached out his hand.
The picture shows an oak tree that I took with Cao Lengyu yesterday.
Suddenly, a cool fingertip touched the side of her face. Strands of her hair were held between two fingers, gently rubbing against her cheek, and then tucked behind her ear.
He withdrew his hand in two seconds.
"A hair got into his mouth," Jiang Jiaoming said casually, putting his hand down.
There was a moment of silence in the car. Zhuo Qiyun held her phone up halfway and opened her mouth but didn't say anything. The screen light reflected Geng Jiali's beautiful face. She scoffed coldly and remained silent.
Liang Kongxiang: "If you want to see the sunset, you might have to go tomorrow, since the show ends early tomorrow."
“…Oh, it’s nothing,” Zhuo Qiyun’s thoughts had already drifted to outer space, only her mouth was moving: “Do whatever is convenient for you, don’t delay your filming.”
"No." Liang Kongxiang smiled. The phone in her hand vibrated. Cao Lengyu asked what was wrong first, and then sent a "good" message.
It was already 7:28. They were getting closer and closer to their destination. Liang Kongxiang leaned back in the back seat, her gaze fixed on the night view outside the window.
She saw two women walking side by side on the street near the restaurant. Zhuang Yexue's back was hard to recognize, but she recognized Cao Lengyu's back at a glance.
She quickly assessed the situation in her mind, and just as she was about to pass by the two people, she suddenly said, "Excuse me, could you please stop for a moment?"
The driver slammed on the brakes, and the people in the car lurched forward due to inertia. Zhuo Qiyun's hair flew forward, and she brushed her wildly flying bangs aside, looking bewildered. "...Have we arrived?"
The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Liang Kongxiang's calm and gentle face.
Cao Lengyu and Zhuang Yexue, who were outside the car, stopped when they heard the noise and turned their heads at the same time.
The four faces in the car turned to the right in unison, looking at Zhuang Yexue and Cao Lengyu beside the car.
The two groups finally met.

Author's Note: No prize for guessing! What kind of message might Jiang Jiaoming have sent to Kong Xiang that made even the usually composed Kong Xiang lose her composure? Hahahaha.
OK, here comes the most sarcastic Geng Jiali in the whole article, hahaha.
