Chapter 49 A muscular man in flashy pink.

Chapter 49 A muscular man in flashy pink.

Liang Kongxiang opened the door, but before she could even put her hand down on the door frame, Jiang Jiaoming hugged her.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his chin on her shoulder, and held her quietly for a while.

Liang Kongxiang's cheek pressed against his slightly cool neck, and it took her several seconds before she dazedly raised her hand to hug him back. He was wearing a black nylon jacket, and his body still carried the smell of the damp rainy season, slightly cool and refreshing.

“…Why are you here?” Liang Kongxiang looked up at him, took a step back, and closed the door.

Jiang Jiaoming moved forward with his heels, without saying a word, and pushed her back into the room in a few steps. Before Liang Kongxiang could say that she was going to draw the curtains, Jiang Jiaoming pushed her down onto the bed and kissed her passionately, biting her lips and sucking hard.

The two hadn't kissed in a long time. Jiang Jiaoming, with his assertive style, cupped her face and his tongue moved in and out.

“Okay…” Liang Kongxiang couldn’t breathe and turned her face away, but Jiang Jiaoming didn’t stop. He showered her cheeks with delicate kisses, pecking at her repeatedly.

She raised her hand to block it, but it was no use. So she simply reached out and hooked a pillow to bury her face, her nose nestled among the soft cotton as she quietly took a breath.

Seeing her like this, Jiang Jiaoming stopped, knelt down by the bed, and looked down at her for a few seconds.

Liang Kongxiang, her wrist still resting by her ear, suddenly heard Jiang Jiaoming seem to chuckle. Then the bed slumped down, indicating that he had gotten out of bed.

Just as she was about to move the pillow, she suddenly felt light as he lifted her up in his arms. Liang Kongxiang instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him with slight confusion: "...What are you doing?"

"Where did you send me that message just now?" Jiang Jiaoming asked, hugging him as he walked out of the room. He hooked his toes on the door and gently kicked it back, his gaze falling on the windowsill where a glass of water sat. "Found it."

Jiang Jiaoming placed her on the windowsill, braced his hands on either side of her, and quietly looked up at her.

A light mist drifted in from outside the window, and the fuzzy green leaves at the top of the trees all pointed downwards. Water droplets condensed on the tips of the leaves dripped onto the ground, making the stones wet, black, and smooth. Blue-green dragonflies flew low around flowers covered with large water droplets, their wings buzzing.

Springtime is damp, and so are lovers' longings, like raindrops half-fallen from a spider's web.

Liang Kongxiang looked at Jiang Jiaoming, who had rushed to the film set covered in dust, poked the corner of his mouth, and said nothing.

"Hmm?" Jiang Jiaoming let her touch him freely. "You miss me that much?"

"I'm just letting you listen to the rain."

"Hmm. What's the difference between this and the one in Gongtai City?" Jiang Jiaoming asked patiently.

Liang Kongxiang smiled and remained silent.

Jiang Jiaoming kissed her eyes and deliberately asked, "What's the difference?"

"you guess."

Before he could even utter a syllable, Liang Kongxiang quickly covered his mouth and said helplessly, "President Jiang, you should go to a rehabilitation center for adultery."

“Miss Liang, you’re just being lewd. I haven’t even finished speaking and you’re already accusing me of being lewd,” Jiang Jiaoming said, rubbing her palm as he spoke. “You’re really harsh on me.”

"You said it, leash the dog."

Jiang Jiaoming nodded, seemingly satisfied with her explanation, and then asked, "Excuse me, is it tied in the wrong place? Shouldn't the rope-like parts of my body be at the bottom?"

“…Jiang Jiaoming.” Liang Kongxiang covered her ears.

Jiang Jiaoming smiled.

However, the laughter stopped after only two seconds.

Because Liang Kongxiang suddenly found a point of attack, she said with a smile, "It looks similar. Jiang Jiaoming personally certified it."

"..."wtf?

Jiang Jiaoming laughed in exasperation. Liang Kongxiang jumped down from the windowsill, clung to him, and leaned down to kiss his cheek heavily, laughing, "You idiot's angry."

Stupid Jiang Jiaoming: "..."

Because Liang Kongxiang had to go to work soon, Jiang Jiaoming didn't bother her. Instead, he supported her by the bottom and led her to her room to rest for a while.

"I'll go to the set later to say hello to Wang Gao," Jiang Jiaoming said. He tidied the bed that Liang Kongxiang had messed up, putting two pillows together.

"Hmm." Liang Kongxiang closed the script on the bedside table, went to the wardrobe to get a coat. It had rained for a while, and the temperature outside wasn't high. "Director Wang is a nice guy, very easy-going, and very professional. I chatted with him over dinner a few days ago, and he mentioned that I had only heard of him before, but now that we're working together, it feels quite magical. I should call him 'senior brother' in a proper way."

Jiang Jiaoming stopped tidying the quilt, glanced at her sideways, and said nothing.

Liang Kongxiang had already put on her coat. The driver was waiting for her downstairs. She came over and hugged him, saying, "I'm going to film now. See you later."

"Hmm." Jiang Jiaoming straightened her coat, his tone indifferent: "If they dare to keep other dogs outside, I'll bite them to death, you hear me?"

Liang Kongxiang sighed and patted his side: "It's already exhausting enough to keep you here. Let's go."

The air was slightly cool today, and the rainy season in the south was long and humid, so everyone on set was enveloped in moisture. When Liang Kongxiang got out of the car, the two most lively girls on set were rubbing each other's arms, exaggerating that they were soaked.

“That’s because you haven’t memorized it well enough,” Liang Kongxiang said with a smile, sitting down next to Wang Gao.

Wang Gao pointed at her warningly, and Li Ke shut her mouth from the idiom chain game, deliberately keeping her head down and hiding next to Liang Kongxiang.

“Hey,” Wang Gao suddenly remembered something and looked at Liang Kongxiang, “President Jiang is coming over in a bit, did you know?”

"Really?" Liang Kongxiang smiled.

No sooner had he finished speaking than Li Ke suddenly called out, "President Jiang is here."

The group looked toward the entrance to the film set, where a man in a black jacket with broad shoulders and long legs was watching them walk toward them.

Wang Gao stared intently, then quickly stood up and extended his hand: "Hey, long time no see, Jiaoming."

"Long time no see." Jiang Jiaoming returned the handshake, glanced at Liang Kongxiang, then looked at Wang Gao and asked, "What were you talking about?"

"We're talking about you." Wang Gao pulled out a chair for him: "Sit down."

"What do I have to talk about?"

“That’s too much…” Wang Gao came from a military compound, so he wasn’t so reserved when talking to Jiang Jiaoming. He also had a playful personality. “When we talked about how you and Kong Xiang worked together on the last film, I was thinking that if you invested in this film, the three of us would be acquaintances. We could just pick someone to play mahjong and we’d have a table full of people.”

Jiang Jiaoming casually glanced at Liang Kongxiang, but she didn't look at him. Her gaze was fixed on the script spread out on her lap. He smiled and said to Wang Gao, "You and Kongxiang get along so well, it's easy to arrange a mahjong game."

Liang Kongxiang looked up at Jiang Jiaoming. Jiang Jiaoming was sitting next to Wang Gao, leaning back slightly. Where Wang Gao couldn't see, he raised his eyebrows at Liang Kongxiang and mouthed, "How is it?"

Wang Gao waved to the two twin sisters. They were each holding a string of candied hawthorns and were licking them when they heard Wang Gao's voice and came running over excitedly.

Jiang Jiaoming had met these two girls before; they always took Liang Kongxiang into the woods, and they frequently appeared in the pictures Liang Kongxiang sent him.

"Come here, this is Brother Jiaoming." Wang Gao smiled and patted the two children's heads, introducing them to Jiang Jiaoming: "These two kids are especially fond of clinging to Kong Xiang, and they always follow me around. When they grow up, they'll probably be infatuated with handsome men and beautiful women."

Yu Man and Yu Lan, as if reciting a book, stood in front of Jiang Jiaoming and called out in unison, "Brother Jiaoming."

Jiang Jiaoming nodded and suddenly waved to them.

Yuman and Yulan thought he was handsome, but his face was fierce, so they didn't dare to go over for a moment. But Jiang Jiaoming smiled, and the two infatuated girls bumped into Jiang Jiaoming's legs and laughed like flowers.

Yu Man suddenly frowned, sniffed the air, and then jumped around in surprise, exclaiming, "Brother Jiao Ming smells just like Sister Kong Xiang!"

Wang Gao was stunned for a moment, then looked at Jiang Jiaoming.

She opened her eyes wide and smelled it again in disbelief, then stumbled out and bumped into Liang Kongxiang's arms. Liang Kongxiang was afraid she would fall, so she reached out and caught her, saying helplessly, "Slow down, didn't you fall down a couple of days ago?"

Yu Lan was very excited and exclaimed that it was such a coincidence.

Although the adults present didn't show surprise on their faces, their hearts were in turmoil. Yu Man and Yu Lan were children, and they spoke without thinking, but even if Wang Gao was stupid, he would have realized what was going on.

“…What a coincidence.” Wang Gao scratched his temple, glanced at Liang Kongxiang, and then at Jiang Jiaoming.

During their subsequent conversation, Wang Gao never mentioned the name "Kong Xiang" again. Just as filming was about to begin, the tense second half of the reminiscing session finally came to an end.

Liang Kongxiang had to go to filming and didn't have time to argue with Jiang Jiaoming about what had just happened. She texted him on her phone: "I'll settle the score with you when I get back later."

Jiang Jiaoming chuckled as he held his phone.

The crisis is over.

He returned to the hotel, took his laptop to the study, and started an online conference with Wang Jianbo, gesturing for Wang Jianbo to continue while putting on his earphones.

"The sound production is nearing completion, but in terms of time, there isn't much. Overall, it's still quite tight."

Jiang Jiaoming hummed in agreement: "How long do you expect it to take to complete?"

"If things go smoothly, it should take less than a month."

"As soon as possible," Jiang Jiaoming instructed before ending the meeting.

Of the three major European film festivals, only the Berlin Film Festival's submission deadlines matched the release schedule of "Brilliant Past". Even so, in order to meet the submission deadline, he still put pressure on Wang Jianbo, demanding that the film be edited as soon as possible.

The entire process of submitting a document for review, getting it approved, and obtaining the dragon seal, if all goes smoothly, takes almost a month.

Yesterday I learned that Tian Lei's film "The Parade" is already in the censorship stage, so he will definitely submit it to Berlin. Tian Lei has old acquaintances among the film selectors and judges, so their chances of winning are actually not small.

If "The Brilliant Past" misses out on this award, one wrong step could lead to a series of mistakes.

Liang Kongxiang and Jiang Jiaoming had asked about this matter when they talked on the phone before. She said that Cao Lengyu had been working overtime to edit the video for the past few months, and if she missed the registration deadline... just thinking about it made her anxious.

It's easy to guess how Tian Lei will mock them the next time they meet.

...

On set, Liang Kongxiang was still worried about Jiang Jiaoming being alone in the hotel, so she got into her car and went home as soon as filming wrapped. She had been filming until late at night and had no idea what Jiang Jiaoming had been doing all day.

The electronic lock beeped twice, and the door slid open just a crack. A rich aroma of food wafted in, and the sound of a stove being lit came from the kitchen, along with the crackling of oil in the pan.

She changed her shoes, went inside, and headed towards the kitchen.

Jiang Jiaoming was only wearing a pair of dark green trousers, hanging low around his waist, with a belt wrapped around his slender waist. He was not wearing anything on his upper body except for a pink apron.

From behind, he has broad shoulders and a narrow waist, with firm and smooth back muscles. His shoulder blades and arm muscles contract and relax as he flips the wok. The pink thread of his apron is tied into a bow at his waist, which stands out against his wheat-colored muscles.

Jiang Jiaoming turned around when he heard the noise behind him, still holding the spatula in his hand.

Liang Kongxiang was suddenly drawn to another spot, and her gaze slowly moved downwards.

The apron he was wearing had a Hello Kitty design on the front.
